A still undiscovered (yes!) corner of the Texas beach.
Our cozy beach cottage offers an unparalleled beach location. Set right at the head of thousands of feet of housing-free beach. Stuck out almost in to the ocean, with the waves rolling up all but beneath your feet. Nestled right at the point where the serene waters of San Luis pass meet the rolling waves of Treasure Island Beach.
'You See So Much Sky and Water'
We finished an exhaustive remodeling of this house in August, 2013 with one principle in mind: The view must dictate everything.
We filled the ocean-facing side with soaring floor to ceiling windows, taking advantage of every inch of this magnificent view of the surf. Looking the other way in this room, more modest but carefully located windows offer a view out over the waters of San Luis Pass. A large flat screen television offers a full HD DirectTV lineup.
The kitchen comes fully equipped with cookware, dishes, utensils, coffee-maker, blender, toaster, and appliances. The open floorplan provides the same ocean view as the living room out over the kitchen island.
Bedrooms (all bedrooms come with DirectTV-equipped flat screen televisions):
In the middle bedroom we designed the floor-to-ceiling windows to create a sweeping view down the beach from the Queen-size bed's location. Resist the urge to close the drapes at night and be rewarded by waking up to a fantastic view from your pillow. A fold-away desk is located along the wall, just in case the laptop-in-bed approach isn't your style.
The corner bedroom allowed us some bonus opportunities with the view. A wall of floor-to-ceiling windows at the foot of the Queen-size bed gives a dramatic view of the ocean and sky while the other wall offers a view as far as the eye can see down the beach. Again, leave the drapes open and you will be glad you did in the morning.
The bunkroom has bed-space for 4 and a wall full of games, puzzles, and children's books. A comfy full-size bed still benefits from a nice view down the beach and allows this room to serve as a third master if needed.
Our porch areas offer a shaded dining area with a view out over San Luis Pass, a sunny (at least during the middle of the day) area with Adirondack chairs with views of the beach, and a shaded/sunny lounge area with views of both.
There is a dining nook with a built-in bench seating, a utility closet with a washer and dryer, and two full bathrooms. One is a standard sized bathroom with a tub and the other is a small bathroom with a shower.
The house has bed spots for 8. Any more would be quite a crowd for this 967 square foot house.
When I was growing up, my family and I went down to the beach often. I loved digging huge holes til they caved in, eating sandy hotdogs and roasted marshmellow, and attempting to body surf until mom called me in to reapply sunscreen.
Growing older, I realized I did not want to stop having that kind of fun so I purchased this home to be our playful and relaxing get away. Our love for a quiet family escape brought us to Treasure Island.
Though the home is a recent purchase, my family has already have many memories and is looking forward for more to come. We hope that you will also create lasting memories during your stay.
Tina purchased this house in 2013
Our goal was to have a serene calming decor throughout the house. We also maximized the amount of windows to view the ocean and beach.
The view from the living room makes it seem that the house is floating on water.
The photos online looked too good to be true- like maybe they were photoshopped- but it was the real deal! The views were spectacular! From sunrise to sunset- it was beautiful! The sound of the waves was enjoyable day and night! Texas public beach is just steps away from this house. The house is very clean, well furnished, and nicely decorated! It is obvious that the owner cares about the property because they have attended to the details and maintained the property.
Tina was very helpful right from the start! The views were awesome and the house is very well set up! We had the entire beach to ourselves for the week and the fishing was amazing! Would definitely recommend and we are already planning next years trip!
My husband and I had the pleasure of renting this lovely beach home recently. The moment we climbed the stairs, we saw nothing but ocean waves, then were pleased to find the inside of the beach home was immaculate! We would definitely rent again and can't wait to return. Add the fact, that we were allowed to bring our sweet "Molly" (pet), only made the trip more enjoyable. Rent this one, you will not be disappointed!
We recently stayed for a week at this lovely home and were pleasantly surprised by how well it was maintained, furnished & stocked. Linens, towels, shampoo, cream rinse, shower gel, body lotion, & soaps were all top quality. Pantry was well stocked with spices & cooking supplies. We have never found this to be true with any other homes we have rented. We have been renting homes in the Galveston West End for over 20 years and we truly believe this home was the "BEST" by far on all major points. The location was absolutely stunning, with easy access to restaurants & shopping. Tina is a very gracious landlord and supplied everything you could possibly need for a stay. One minor detail we found was that there were no blinds in the living room, which made watching TV in the early morning a little difficult to see. Otherwise, this home was perfect and we will be back!
Based on the photos and reviews, I had the highest expectations for Perched on the Edge---and it didn't disappoint! Nothing new to add, except that I agree with all of the raves. It's rare to find such a spectacular home available for rental.
