Lives up to the name...
The property is fantastic. On a clear night, it certainly lives up to the name Stargazer. Being at 3850 ft of elevation you are above the lights and makes for awesome views both at night and day. The owner was very easy to contact and was responsive to anything we needed. Overall, we had a fantastic time. My only recommendation for future visitors is the road to the cabin is a bit rough. I would recommend at least an SUV to comfortably get up the road, especially the last 100 yards . It can be done in a normal car, but it will be a rough ride. In my opinion, it adds to the location.
Stargazer surpassing beauty
Beautiful vistas, comfortable living space, all the amenities needed for a fabulous retreat from everyday life. Will definitely go back!!
Had a wonderful family getaway at Statgazer. Views were great, the cabin had lots of room, kitchen had everything you need for cooking a meal. We did go into West Jefferson, but we also spent a day at the cabin playing games, hiking, got in the hot tub, and sat on the deck looking over the mountains. The road in was an adventure but we had no problems. Look forward to going back.
Large cabin with beautiful views. This property is close to Boone, NC. The interior is nice and the beds are comfortable. The hot tub was large and right off the master bedroom. There are many windows and the natural light is terrific. The cabin had several TVs, a fireplace, and lots of games and movies. There was also an air hockey table and foozeball table in the basement, as well as an entertainment area and third bedroom and bath. The sounds of wildlife were calming and we had daily visits from bunnies eating the surrounding grass. This cabin has three levels and a lot of living space for many people although on this trip it was just my husband and I. The access road is gravel and somewhat bumpy, but if navigated slowly it is not bad. We had very few issues with the property but it worked out okay overall. The internet did not work when we arrived, but the owner gave us a new code and then it worked fine after that. The second issue is the driveway. The last uphill climb to the cabin is loose gravel and a bit of a challenge due to the steepness. The cabin is located on top of the hill so that is understandable. The views are "million dollar" views so it was well worth it.
I have never in the mountains anyone with a view like this place had. It was just so peaceful and pleasant. We didn't want to leave. In the winter time you'll surely need a 4x4 vehicle but great place to stay.
West Jefferson is 12 miles from the cabin with three major brand supermarkets. Boone is 22 miles away with shopping malls, numerous restaurants, shops, recreational facilities including skiing, tubing, rafting, canoeing, fishing.
