Great house on a private no wake cove perfect for children. House is very well decorated and appointed. Enough space for two families to be comfortable and have their own space. Kitchen is functional, but small. Could use some space to store dry food items when staying for the week. Trash service is also not included and no outside trash cans are provided, so must go to dump to dispose of garbage. Would recommend providing trash service for future guests. Towel racks are missing from lower level bathroom. Beautiful wooded lot with views overlooking lake are tranquil! Would definitely stay here again.
Avalon was a great house for 2 families. Room to be together or spread out. The location on the lake was perfect. We could swim all day with practically no boat wakes, and have some shade as well. Plus room to dock a boat. Would rent again!
A vacation is, or at least should be, a time of relaxation and enjoyment with family or friends. There are many choices one can make in regards as to where to go and call it a vacation. Such a place can be found at Smith Mountain Lake, VA, and more specifically, the home called "Avalon".
"Avalon" is a nice home located on the lake and is situated in a quiet setting. It's peaceful location allows for much relaxation, while at the same time, serves as a means of privacy for your getaway. The home is very spacious with room enough for the entire family, as well as a nice game room located in the basement. It is just across the cove from Parkway Marina which makes for easy access to boat or pontoon rentals, and is also only a short boat ride from the shops at Bridgewater Marina which include food, jet skis/boat/pontoon rentals, entertainment, and shopping.
The driving distance is also very minimal to other amenities, such as groceries, gas, and movies - including the Mayberry Drive Inn Outdoor Movie Theater. "Avalon's" outdoor deck and grill make for great social time with family and friends, and also provides lots of shade for those not wanting to be in the heat of the sun. On the other hand, for those wanting the sun, a private dock allows for all the tanning you wish, as well as a great spot to fish.
"Avalon" has been our choice for many reasons. It's only a short drive from our home in Lynchburg, it's peaceful environment, and it's proximity to other lake amenities. But most importantly, "Avalon" has become more than just a vacation rental, it has become a "tradition
