Located close to Hadley point beach off Bay view drive is this lovely year round Ocean front cottage. The Cottage was built in the 1940’s with building materials from the Stotesbury Estates which was located at the current Bar Harbor ferry terminal.
The waterfront cottage was built in the 1950’s and includes a living room facing the water and open to the kitchen. Bedroom with attached bath and a bonus room.
Everything was spotless when we arrived. All the basics were there, and everything functioned as it should. The view from the big front window was spectacular, and made our stay a delight.
ONLY negative was a bit of a walk to get to the cabin, but not that big a deal.
We had a great time.
Property was very tidy. No shortage of towels, blankets and linens. Nice homey feel, like borrowing a friends place.
Waterfowl abundant and identifiable with good binoculars, which are provided. Very short walk to water, by road.....don't try direct route. No complaints....owner very attentive. Nice quiet part of island. We didn't see another person our entire stay. Really nice little house.
Enjoyed the beautiful view and solitude at this quaint cottage. Saw cool birds and even a moose outside our window! Kitchen and bathroom well supplied, and convenient access to Acadia.
Great view of Frenchman's Bay with table and chairs in back yard, plus outdoor fireplace with free firewood. Well appointed inside with room for three people to sleep comfortably. Only issues were--no blender and toilet leaked.
Hadley Beach is a five minute ride by car
Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia NP
Nice view of waterfront
There are two bedrooms, one large and one that just fits a bed. The seating in the living room is uncomfortable and certainly needs to be updated as well the cabin itself. There is no access to the water directly from the cabin.
We have stayed in many vacation rentals, and many were very fancy places, but this might be our all time favorite. It is simple, but the spot is stunning--so quiet, so picturesque, with lovely breezes and cross ventilation. Peace hangs over the cottage and the cove. The cottage is nicely laid out and has all you need. It is very convenient to the national park, to all parts of the Mt. Desert Island and to Bar Harbor. The farm to table restaurant right across Route 3 is lovely and the two places that make you two lobster dinners for two people for $36 were great. You see gorgeous sunsets each evening and can walk down to the beach to join the other people who savor the pink skies. Our two little dogs even immediately fell in love with the place and were relaxed and smiling from ear to ear, lying on their backs. We had the most enchanted week staying here!
Home is located just a few minutes walk to a public saltwater beach (Hadley Point Beach). The beach is pet friendly as long as your pet is on the leash. It is great place for picnics and family lobster bake gathering. Acadia National Park Visitor Center and Park entrance is four miles away, downtown Bar Harbor is eight mile drive. Island explorer Shuttle service runs daily from late June through Columbus day.
