About Laura Prince

My father-in-law built this vacation home in 1984 and it has been used by the family year round ever since.

We recently moved out of state to Florida for work and so we aren't able to use the house as much as we'd like to. So we decided to open up the house for vacation rentals.

The house is of great sentimental value to us and we hope you enjoy staying there as much as we do.

Why Laura Prince chose Upper Peninsula Michigan

Our house is clean and cozy. It has all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay.

You can explore Les Cheneaux and all it's secluded bays and beaches. One of our favorites is Government Island bay where the beach is sandy and the water is crystal clear, perfect for swimming.

After a day of exploring, you can grill out on the deck, relax & then later enjoy the firepit and toast some s'mores. Enjoy the clear night sky and look for shooting stars.

The property is located within minutes walk to downtown Cedarville with all it's amenities but positioned in a large, peaceful lot on the lake with great views.

The location is ideal for drives out to St.Ignace, Soo Locks, Tahquamenon Falls and the boat to Drummond Island.

It really is the perfect getaway. We love it and hope you do too!

What makes this cabin unique

For rainy days or evenings in, there is a game room situated in the basement including a pool table, dart board and a home gym.

An eliptical machine is available in the master bedroom too.

Excellent with a few suggestions

  • 5 of 5

We loved it! It was a GalPal week and we had a ball! We biked, we kayaked, we ate at the Italian place downtown, we relaxed on the deck, it was great! A few suggestions/comments: 1. The twin beds in the downstairs bedroom are VERY hard mattresses. I realize this is a personal preference, but they just didn't work for us. The pullout sofa upstairs needs to be replaced. The frame was worn out and there were metal coils sticking up out of it. It was also very lumpy. It would be nice to have a couple mirrors somewhere other than the bathrooms. A small one in each bedroom would have been convenient. There were antson the kitchen counter our second morning but they were tiny and we just bought ant traps and set them out and that solved the problem. The sofa in the living area is actually very comfortable to sleep on. These are minor quibbles as overall we loved the place. The entire process from start to finish was great. Thanks so much Laura!

Relaxing and fun state & national park vacation!

  • 4 of 5

The house was nice and equipped with almost everything we could need. The almost is really just related to a handful of kitchen utensils that would be an added bonus.

The house is located in a small town. Keep in mind the grocery store closes at 8 pm and the hardware store closes at 6 pm. We did quite a bit of driving to parks around the area so we tried to keep it in mind for planning dinner.

Great for a group

  • 4 of 5

The property was in a small village right on the water - summer would be excellent there. The arrangement of the house and the woodstove made it perfect for our family get together, but there are a couple things that would have made it even better. The downstairs mattresses are pretty worn and uncomfortable, so keep that in mind if a comfy bed is a must for you. For under $100 the kitchen could be made much more user friendly with the addition of some mixing bowls, a hand mixer and dry measuring cups. I'd definitely consider another stay, especially in the summer. We will be looking for something else next Thanksgiving though.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments which are appreciated in helping us improve our vacation home for future guests. The first floor queen mattress is fairly new but we will look into it's condition. Although the kitchen is very well equipped, we can certainly add some more measuring cups and additional bowls for future guests.

Great get away!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in Cedarville completely ! The home was spacious and comfortable. It is kept very clean and was in good repair. The view out to the water is beautiful and we watched some beautiful sunrises from the deck. The dock worked well for our boat, however it is pretty narrow and a little difficult for my elderly parents to navigate. The home sets up high giving a nice view from the living room however that means that there are 10 or more steps to get into from either door. The pool room is great although a little musty. The only repair that is needed is the gas grill that needs an igniter and a new burner. The kitchen worked well and was well equipped . The beds were comfortable and location was just as described. The Les Cheneaux Islands are magical!
