About The Owner

My sister and I bought our home for our famlies to enjoy a relaxing and beautiful getaway. We both travel extensively for our jobs as a home inspector and flight attendant and cherish our home as a haven to unwind.

The Owner purchased this house in 2004

Why The Owner chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

We have friends that bought homes in the area and fell in love with the beauty and convenience of this location.

What makes this house unique

We love our large wrap-around deck which allows us to spend most of our time outdoors.

Everything we wanted and more!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this property! When we got there, accessing the key was easy and the cabin was clean and adorable. We were impressed the second we walked in! It had everything we needed. We brought our dog so the gated porch and fenced in grass area were extremely convenient. We would absolutely stay there again. Thank you, Nancy!

We are now looking forward to this chalet for the month of August. This will be the third summer that we have booked it as it suits our needs and wants perfectly. We have a large dog, who loves the cooler weather. We have places to walk him near the house, but like doing the river walk in downtown Newland each AM. Being golfers, we love being able to get to a really nice private/public course in less than 5 minutes. The deck is roomy with lovely mountain views. The chalet is equipped in all respects. The one exception is a DVD (or whatever) to copy programs for later. Our favorite restaurant is Bella's and the trip to Grandfather Mountain is an incredible experience that we enjoy over and over.

Enjoyed our visit very much.

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed our visit very much. Accommodation very homey and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen. Great view and deck. Enjoyed feeding the birds. House a little musty from being closed up. You can use Fabreze spray on carpets and furniture to eliminate this. Wash sheets and towels in Borax. Caretaker was very helpful. Location near interesting sights and shops. Don't know if we will be able to visit again as we are seniors not in the best of health. Otherwise, we certainly would. Best to you and yours.

Nice location for golfing and fishing.

  • 3 of 5

We liked the location for golfing and fishing. We enjoyed the outside deck and was it was nice to have our dog with us. We did keep her in her travel crate on deck and took her off property for walks due to unleashed dog down the road. Cabin was comfortable for the two of us. The kitchen was well equipped and the caretaker was very friendly and responsible. I would recommend a small round table for dining outside. We would like to book again! Thank you!

great location and nice amenities and Beautiful View!

  • 5 of 5

We came to cabin in dark of night with ice and snow on roads. We tried to contact the caretaker about the road condition but he did not call back, we heard from his son the next day. We would have stayed in hotel the first night if we knew that our cars would not make it up the hill because of so much ice and snow. But we are adventurers and hiked with all our belongings up to top of hill (.2 of mile) anyway in the blowing snow while leaving our cars parked at the bottom! Used the dustpan to shovel the snow off porch. Inside cabin was so comfortable with soft beds, lots of heat, and a fireplace! It was in the single digits that night. WE had a great thanksgiving dinner, and drove into Boone on Friday. Couldn't believe all the Christmas trees on top of cars. Went to all the shops there. Enjoyed having Sat. TV to watch all the important games. Hiked up to top of road and down a short trail. Beautiful in the snow. Finally got our cars up hill on Sat. morn to pack up. It was a very memorable trip with our family together for a great time. Just remember if there's ice and snow, get some chains!
