This is a classic Wisconsin waterfront retreat. This newly remodeled cottage includes hardwood floors (bamboo), new kitchen, glass tiled shower. Cozy retreat for family/friend gaterings. Greatroom includes wood fireplace, new sofas, huge dining table (meals, games, etc.), and full-wall view of the Bay. Spacious front deck overlooking 200' waterfront includes outdoor furniture, and gas grill. Just a short (25 min) drive to Lambeau Field for Packer practice, pre-season, and games. Shallow water at dock end provides excellent access for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing (small boat). Large front grass provides space for volleyball, and other outdoor fun. Oconto is a nearby town with lots of small restaurants and taverns.
Bedroom setup includes one enclosed bedroom on the first floor, and two bedrooms on the second floor (one enclosed, one with open rail overlook to greatroom below).
The privacy is great. Water on one side, and woods on all three other sides. We have our wooded empty lot on one side, and State reserve (DNR) wooded land on two others.
Water is clear and warm. Canoe, Kayak, and Row Boat are available for Renters upon request.

We are a fun-loving family. We live in downtown Milwaukee and love the city cultural life. We also love to get away and spend time with our family and friends.
Donny purchased this cottage in 2009
This cottage has a lot of family history. My mom and dad picked out this property for its beautiful, sandy waterfront, secluded woods, and easy drive from Milwaukee (2 1/2 hours with a stop). Having a nearby small town (Oconto) and larger city (Green Bay) offered a variety of activities, attractions, and shopping.
Morning coffee on the lakefront deck in the morning is our favorite time (sometimes sunrise). A huge variety of birds (Herons, Pellicans, Cranes, Eagles) frequently fly close by. Evenings often end with a fireside (campfire pit) chat, and star gazing.
We had the most fantastic week up in this Cottage with our two dogs and teenage kids away from the hustle/bustle of everyday. The house is immaculately decorated, spacious, a ton of wildlife (we saw a pair of bald eagles in the nearby trees to complement the frogs and (harmless) snakes in the garden), great lake access with a couple of kayaks/row boat and super-secluded. The owner is a pleasure to work with and very accommodating. Getting into the local town is easy and there's a great little Supermarket for fresh food/provisions, etc. Seriously, nothing but good things to say. Thanks for a memorable trip.
I cannot say enough about this place, it was one of the best vacations my family has had in awhile! The cottage has everything you need and more! The cottage is so spacious and is decorated so wonderfully! My 14 year old twins loved their room overlooking the great room which had a wonderful view looking out to the lake! We spent nearly everyday down at the dock swimming, sunbathing, boating, fishing, bird watching and making family memories to last a lifetime! At night we would either play board games or watching movies from the large selection the cottage offers or venture into town for dinners, mini golf and ice cream. We also went to Green Bay at night for Packer family night, a Packer practice, Bay Beach and some mall shopping! I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a private and quiet getaway right on the lake!! You cannot beat this place and everything it has to offer for the price!! We will definitely be back next year!!
I relied on the overwhelmingly positive remarks here and they were absolutely accurate. This is a wonderfully appointed cabin that feels more spacious than the pictures suggest. Pretty much every detail was taken care of. I wondered only briefly if my kids would get restless, but they loved it here. This is an extremely quiet location. You can stand out on the dock and experience moments when there are absolutely no man made sounds. That's my definition of heaven. The other reviews have mentioned the presence of wildlife; we had muskrats next to the dock during our stay. The owners must treat the yard because it is completely surrounded by trees, yet we were able to grill and eat on the deck. I can't even do that comfortably at our own home! (virtually no bugs).
Several things that really impressed me (especially compared to other VRBO stays we've had):
Very comfortable/high quality sofas.
Remarkably well appointed library, (books, DVDs and music). The books covered a nice range and were a lot more sophisticated a selection than what you usually see. The music (CDs) truly had something for everyone - contemporary pop, jazz, 60s rock, classical, opera, 40s-50s classics - wonderful! You think these things don't matter much, but when you're at a place that's meant for relaxation, you will appreciate having such a terrific selection.
AC worked great when we needed it. All the appliances (washer dryer too) ran great. Be sure to really dig around - you will find helpful things left and right. Internet works, but it's not fast and if you travel with family, then it grinds to a virtual halt. I found this to be a near perfect set up - we could stay connected when we needed to look something up, but it kept everyone off their devices. No cell service for us (Verizon), so again - do something else - you'll be glad!
The water was much warmer than Lake Michigan in Chicago was 1 week earlier - so fear not. We brought water shoes, as the initial entry was grassy etc. Apparently, this is not always the case. Walkable depth goes out seemingly forever (at least another 100 yards from the end of the dock), so the kids were safe playing around. Once past the initial grassy area, its nice and sandy.
We did a day trip to go white water rafting and that's a little over an hour drive each way - totally doable.
Grocery stores are within 10 minutes driving.
This was my first vacation ever, where I returned home truly refreshed - Perfect!
We had such a wonderful time during our week long stay. The kids, ages 7 and 5, spent countless hours on the dock with their buckets and nets catching frogs and minnows, while the adults (including Grandpa) read on the deck and hammock. We saw garter snakes sunning on the rocks, cranes and herons flying overhead, and enjoyed watching the moon rise over the bay each night it was clear. We even enjoyed a few severe thunderstorms. The cottage lacked nothing at all. It was so clean and comfortable and well equipped with everything you might need. The kids loved that they each got to sleep on a top bunk in the loft. We swam at the city pool in Oconto twice and dined at The Dockside and The Brothers Three pizzeria. Both very pleasant dining experiences. We drove down to Lambeau Field for a tour and spent the afternoon at Bay Beach Amusement Park, a fun day trip. We enjoyed the selection of games to choose from for the rainy mornings. We'll be recommending this place to everyone! Thank you so much.
Very nice well cared for lots of amenities. Owners are great.
After a very stressful year, my husband and I had no idea we found the pefect place until we arrived at this surprisingly roomy, secluded, homey cottage. Our old sheltie laid claim to the sizable deck as soon as we woke each morning, waiting for us to join her for the day, birdwatching, reading, laying in the hammock. The land, surrounded by trees on three sides with the bay in front, included a large front yard. As it was early spring, we watched the leaves unfurl and the geese, herons, and ducks heading north, some landing in the marsh grasses out front to build nests. Many fishing boats were out, but we preferred to photograph the (non-poisonous) snakes sunning on the rocks by the water. The cabin had a library filled with many favorite authors and about 100 DVDs obviously carefully chosen. With the curtains drawn back, the wall facing the lake was mostly windows, providing a beautiful view of the sky, trees, and bay. The cottage was well stocked and very clean. We walked some trails in the wildlife preserve, but mostly spent the week relaxing and enjoying the peaceful woodsy setting. The wifi is very slow (thankfully) so we could pull ourselves away from our technology. We enjoyed a couple of meals at The Dockside in Oconto, which served fresh fish and healthy choices among typical fare. The two of us went from tense to chill in one week.
Straight shot down Hwy 41 gets you to Lambeau Field. Packer fans have really enjoyed our place to hang our with friends and family over a game weekend. All you need for cooking, grilling, and having fun is all there.
