Keith and I have been married for 32 years. We have two grown children and recently were blessed with our first grandchild! We have a dog, Beatrice, she is our 'kid' now that we are empty nesters. We live in Canby, another small town America at it's best. Keith manages a medium sized business and I work part-time as a victim advocate for the local district attorney. We like to garden and read, I am really into photography and Keith loves to golf. We adore our Rockaway home and know you will too!
Cara purchased this townhome in 2009
We were looking in Cannon Beach and became disillusioned with the crowds. My sister and I came to Rockaway for a girls weekend after winning the bid at a benefit auction. I was immediately in love with Rockaway. When we got home I told Keith we had to go there again. We planned a trip for later that summer. Keith felt the same way about Rockaway that I did and we started looking at property the same day. When we found our town house, I remember standing upstairs looking out at Twin Rocks and the beautiful ocean and feeling like I was home. We absolutely love it here and love our home SO much! We have tried to think of everything to put in the home to make it the ultimate in comfort and peace for everyone who comes here.
We love being able to look out the large slider in the living room and see Twin Rocks, sometimes it feels like you can reach out and touch them. The sectional in the living room has a chaise at one end that is 'the best seat in the house'. You can see Twin Rocks, with the seagulls drifting and diving, and read a book or watch TV from that spot, aaahhh! We love the little town of Rockaway. When we bring friends we like to walk the beach to the town square and then head over to the Cow Bell Cafe for breakfast, so nice.
Loved staying in this home so much.... Such a great lovely home right on the water..... The beach was incredible and so quiet ... We felt like we had our own private beach.
The accomodations were perfect for our entire family, especially our grandchildren.
The walk to the beautiful beach was excellent.
We experienced many quaint towns nearby and rode the adorable train.
The property was clean and had every convenience we could imagine and more.
We absolutely loved the location!
Cara is a wonderful communicator and responded to our inquiry about the property immediately.
We highly recommend this property.
We had a great time at Diamond Beach. The home was everything we could ask for. We love to cook and the kitchen was fully equipped and perfect for the 4 of us. We also like to play board games and watch movies and the set up is great for that.
The deck looks right out at the Pacific Ocean and I love to have my early morning ( Sleepy Monk ) coffee and enjoy the quiet time in the morning. The walk thru the sand dunes to the beach is easy and the beach is wide open and not crowded.
All the bedrooms were very good and the King beds with pillow top mattress were most comfortable. The only suggestion I would make is that there would ne several comfortable chairs on the deck off the master bedroom.
We loved our stay at rockaway beach and we plan to visit again soon
Loved this townhome. Was well equipped, clean, easy access to the beach. The location makes it easy to travel around the area. Rockaway is the right size of town to relax and grab a few things may need, but isn't far from Tillamook to do any major grocery shopping, etc. Only complaint have is the same as others in that it was a pain to have to re-login to the wi-fi everytime got back on it - doesn't remember it. Other than that, was only "complaint" (and that wasn't a big one either). We were travelling with our teen daughters and my in-laws. The setup worked great and everyone loved it.
Cara was easy to work with, responsive and would definitely recommend and come back if ever have the opportunity. A gorgeous location.
A wonderful townhome on the Oregon coast. Cara was outstandingly responsive and helpful throughout the booking process. The overall condition of the property is excellent, which is particularly evident in comparison to some of the adjacent properties, which make it evident that significant effort is required in upkeep given the effects of the coastal climate. The home itself is set back from the beach by perhaps 50' of scrubland, which is great as it's both scenic and affords extra privacy. The location is just on the edge of the town of Rockaway Beach, close enough for a quick walk to town, but distant enough to again be a bit more removed and quieter. Railroad tracks run adjacent to the property but are used infrequently for sightseeing trains, which are not disruptive and fun to greet. The adjacent road can generate noticeable noise in the two (non-master) BRs on the rear (road-facing) side of the house if the windows are open. Inside, there's one bed and one half bath upstairs, with an excellent kitchen and living room opening onto a balcony with an unobstructed beach view. Downstairs, there's a master bed with en suite bath; the bedroom opens onto the scrubland. The third bedroom, and separate full bath, are at the rear (road-facing) side of the house. Parking for two cars. No AC, but well ventilated by the ocean breeze if you leave open the abundant windows (note no screens are provided, but bugs were not a problem.) Dog friendly, and any dog would be thrilled by the easy beach access, but there was admirably no evidence of wear from prior pet stays. The only downside to the location was the potential for road noise (noticeable only if road-facing windows are open). The only minor issue with the property itself was a weak WiFi signal and suboptimal router configuration (made you re-enter password through a web gateway every time you reconnected to the network), which could be improved with a stronger router and different configuration. In addition, the internet is slow (5 mbps), although that wasn't unexpected for the location, and presumably one doesn't come to the Oregon coast to spend all day on a computer. However, these were very minor issues. Overall, we had an outstanding stay at Diamond Beach, thanks both to Cara's diligent efforts and to the high quality and great location of the property. We would happily stay there again and would warmly recommend it to others.
We loved our stay at the Diamond Beach house. The owners are very responsive from booking through departure. The townhouse is well-appointed with all the comforts of home (and more!). The view of the beach and ocean is magnificent. The Rockaway Beach location is well situated for day trips both north and south. Thank you to the Hawkins for providing a wonderful experience.
Rockaway Beach Oregon is small town America at its best! Located just minutes up the coast from Tillamook on Highway 101, Rockaway retains that quaint beach village, 'wide spot in the road' feeling. Life is simple here with lots of community activities like Bingo and Spaghetti Feeds. The shop owners are friendly and helpful. Rockaway features a town square where many events are held. Craft fairs are held there routinely interspersed with larger gatherings like the Kite Festival, Rocktoberfest and Pirate Days. Fourth of July is not to be missed in Rockaway! There is a parade and fun run, and best of all, the largest fireworks show on the West Coast!
While the town is wonderful, the beach is amazing! Seven miles of wide sandy beaches, Twin Rocks planted just south of town provides a majestic view. Seagulls dip and dive, gentle breezes and an occasional fishing boat wandering by, peace is just a sand chair away.
