My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights with our 22 month old. We had stayed in a hotel for 2 nights prior and our daughter was so cranky. But once we arrived at this house she was perfectly content and comfortable. The house has everything you need in the kitchen, the bath, the backyard area as well as what you need for the beach. The free internet, cable tv and use of a dvd for the little one to watch her favorite videos was great. Having the laundry available to us was a tremendous plus. We would stay here again and hopefully will next summer when we return to the east coast for a visit.
We rented this house for 3 days this past weekend for our daughters wedding. We needed it for 3 adult couples so it was much more convenient, comfortable and not to mention cheaper than renting 3 hotel rooms. The biggest perk for me is that it was stocked like a hotel. All linens, towels, paper products etc were included so I only need to worry about the clothing and toiletries I needed. The house was immaculate upon arrival but I didn't have to mop my way out of there like most cottage rentals. The house was a great place to decompress after all the work and activities leading up to a wedding. Nancy was lovely and made sure we were comfortable. Would I rent it again? ... Absolutely!!!
Excellent location to explore the local area and beyond. We did road trip to Newport, RI which was about 90 mins away. Well laid out property for a family with small children for sure with clean, well maintained rooms. Excellent host/owners who left a incredible welcome pack to guide to the house and activities.
The home was fantastic and perfect for our needs! We felt 'at home' the entire duration and enjoyed every aspect. We used the beach pass several times and the towels, picnic basket and chairs even made visiting beaches in Rhode Island more enjoyable. The location was perfect for us; it accommodated my 5 mile runs, we could walk to the beach, Michael's Dairy, Fred's Shanty, The Waterfront Restaurant, The Recovery Room, The Yolk Diner, Sam's convenience store, Mitchell Park/Woods, Toby May Fields AND near by family. The rooms were generous in size and the decor was perfect for that area; shabby chic/nautical/vintage New England.
We LOVED this rental! We recommended to family in the area that frequently have visitors but have recently downsized in their own homes - the only reason I would not recommend the location is purely selfish; I look forward to using it again and hope it's available next summer for us!!
Nancy was fantastic! Welcoming, Warm, engaging - a great 'neighbor'! We were never made to feel like a tenant or tourist. She has invested a lot of herself in the home and that is what it feels like - a home. I look forward to doing business with her in the future!
Our family of four - two adults and two older teens - had a great stay in this house. Our trip was to drop one off at the Coast Guard Academy, and this location was convenient to everything we had on our itinerary. A quiet neighborhood, convenient access to Ocean Beach Park, dining, provisions and attractions.
The house is half of a duplex and is furnished and equipped beautifully. Solid kitchen with good appliances, cookware and tableware. Large dining room perfect for spreading out with brochures, maps and laptops. Comfy living room with full entertainment system and HD TV service. Cozy front sitting room perfect for a quiet morning. Bedrooms upstairs are very comfortable. Leave extra time for the whole family to get through the single bathroom.
The owners provide nice extras. A complete "welcome guide" including restaurant and recreation recommendations was waiting for us at arrival. There are beach chairs and towels in the laundry room, coffee and tea ready for the making, some DVDs for that rainy day or the night you don't feel like going out. The backyard sitting area is quiet and secluded.
We strongly recommend this property. Many thanks to Nancy and George for their hospitality.
This house was a stopping point for our family on our way to Boston. It has three bedrooms which was perfect for our family of four. It is a charming home with a front porch, living room, dining room, kitchen and a private yard. There was more than enough space for all of us for the time we stayed. The house is close to beaches and the downtown area. We didn't bring bikes but it would be a good area to ride if you had them. Nancy was very helpful with suggestions and the transaction for the house was done online through Home Away so it was very simple. I would take this over a hotel room any day. If you choose to stay here, you won,'t be disappointed.
My partner Eva and I stayed here for a week vacation in July. The property is absolutely beautiful and Nancy and George are terrific and gracious hosts. They made sure that we had everything we needed in our house to ensure a great beach vacation: towels, cooler, beach chairs, games, etc. There is also a large array of brochures and maps available about the town and surrounding areas. The space is large but cozy with a nice backyard for grilling or chilling. Located within biking distance to the beach. We brought our bikes and rode in almost every day. New London is a charming city and you can also take the ferry to Block Island for a day. The terminal is only 10 minutes or so from the house. About 15 minutes driving will bring you to Mystic, a great town to walk around and see the sights. We will definitely be going back. Thanks so much George and Nancy! A++++++. Highly recommended!
Nearby: Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos, Westbrook and Clinton Outlets; Rocky Neck and Hammonasset State Parks; Ocean and Waterford Beach; downtown New London with art galleries, live theater as well as a historic district and sportfishing operations.
