Rocky Mountain National Park Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Huge 2/1--1500sq.' Cabin Sleeps 6, New Remodel, on river as it enters Lake

Luxury remodel-- all top flight quality-- of 2 bedroom cabin on Colo. river where it meets the wetlands and Shadow Mtn. Lake. Travertine bath, all new, w/ seamless glass shower, new carpet in the bedrooms, and hardwood flooring, fine Persian and indian floor rugs to cover some of the hardwood, new appliances, W/D,dishwasher, new cabinets and paint, Egyptian linens, fully equipped. And then there's the View-lots of wildlife, nearly daily, like Moose, Elk, deer, Osprey, etc. etc. Many times--right out your door in the meadow or crossing the river. This old cabin is rustic on the outside and is NEWLY renovated on the inside. We sit on a 6 acre meadow just off Hwy 34--bordered by the No. Fork of the Colo. river--2 miles outside downtown G.L. The river runs so close to your cabin we have to have a small berm by the back deck to keep from flooding in the June run-off season! Shadow Mtn lake connects with Grand lake (the largest alpine lake in the State) by a small channel. Rocky Mtn National park is just 3 miles or so away. Great for fishing, kayaking, bird or wildlife viewing, hiking, boating, etc. Natural stone fireplace w/ wood included. We aslo have 3 canoes, a kayak, and a paddle boat, that we include for our guests. All firewood for your natural rock--floor-to-ceiling fireplace, and the fire pits is also included in your rate.

About Owner/Property Manager Tracee Lorens

I am the Great grand daughter of Gus and Anna Spitzmiller, original Pioneers to Grand Lake. Gus was a plumber and his son Gordon married my Grandma Barbara. My dad, Chris Lorens, left the property to me when he died in 2008, and I have been making it 'top flight' since. I am a proud Colorado Mountain Woman, who now resides in San Diego, but spends lots of time where my roots are, i.e. Grand Lake.

Owner/Property Manager Tracee Lorens purchased this cabin in 1910

Why Owner/Property Manager Tracee Lorens chose Rocky Mountain National Park

It is full of soul and history and it is sooo beautiful!!!

Sits on colo river where it enters Shadow mtn. lake. I bet the Ntl Forest and Park Service--who own all the bordering land--wish they had taken this side of the river too, when they confiscated the Park land up here in the early 1900's.

What makes this cabin unique

Fully remodeled and luxury--through and through.

There really is not a property that compares in the Grand Lake region. Because you are on a 6 ac. meadow bordered by the river and lake--and have all protected land across from you--there really isn't a location in the entire County that compares with this one! The view alone is irreplaceable.

Great simple cabin with great views, amenities, and location.

We had 2 couples staying here and had a great stay. With the river flowing less than 30 feet way, the aounda are amazing. We had a moose laydown and bed 100 feet from the door. The cabin is well appointed with newer upgrades. The bathroom shower was great. There was towels, cooking pans, dishes, glasses, coffee, and even shampoo, conditioner included for the stay. The owner was very responsive to any questions. This is a great place to unwind. There is no wifi or TV which is a great thing. If you have a family, there is playground equipment right behind the cabin. The location was very convenient with the town of grand lake 5 minutes away and Rocky Mountain National Park 10 minutes away.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It is so helpful to people who don't know our little piece of heaven in Grand Lake. We actually are trying to get WIFI. Comcast says soon. For now, we have an area outside the meadow we call the WIFI Haven where you can get reception and we have set up a table and nice chairs. Also, smart phone hotspots are working. I doubt we will ever install TV's as the whole idea is to get out and enjoy the nature and free canoes, right? Thanks again, Tracee/owner

Fantastic Mountain Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This beautifully appointed, rustic cabin sits steps away from the Colorado river with breathtaking views in every direction. I saw moose, elk, many different types of birds and fox. The two separate decks provide wonderful areas to take in all the beauty of the Rocky Mountains...I highly recommend this property.

Rustic

  • 5 of 5

Rustic cabin, but perfect for us! Perfect size, location and amenities. Grand Lake is a great town and very close to Rocky Mountain National Park. We even saw moose in town.

Cabin had extras like paper towels, coffee, Laundry soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. Most the VRBO's don't come with that. There was no cleaning fee either so that was nice since we always leave it like we found it. The owner was very accommodating. There were canoes, kayaks and fishing poles. She told me about the Pelicans flying in every evening to fish and that was awesome to see.

We Couldn't have asked for a better experience!

  • 5 of 5

Myself, my husband, and three grandchildren stayed the weekend at this beautiful cabin! There was plenty of room for all of us! The large shower was could so relaxing and there was always plenty of hot water. The beds were so comfortable we looked forward to going to sleep at night. The kids had fun running in the meadow, playing on the swing sets, sitting by the creek, roasting marshmellows at night in the fire pits. There was a beautiful swing on the front porch and the covered back porch faced the creek so you could sit comfortably even in the rain. A moose came into the meadow that evening, amazing! I sat with my grandchildren in the evening and read one of the lovely books available while my husband prepared the fireplace in the livingroom. It was magical. The next day the kids rode the gocarts in Grand Lake, then we visited the little shops in town and ate lunch at a fun restaurant! Perfect for a family getaway!

Great familiy cabin!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this lovely cabin. It is spacious enough to sleep 4 adults, with two queen beds. On our trip it was myself, my husband, 2 year old daughter, and our dog. The cabin was easy to find and clear instructions were provided for access into cabin, rules, things to do in the area, etc. The cabin is in phenomenal condition- lots of updates. New cabinets in kitchen, nice flooring, new shower. There is also a creek or river out back, which in the summer time you can drop a canoe right into and paddle to Grand Lake, we plan to return in summer! Overall, very nice property that is somewhat secluded, but not far from amenities.

The only reason I am giving the property 4 stars is we did have to wait until the morning after we arrived to have our shower fixed. This was a bit of an inconvenience since we traveled 3 hours with a toddler and had planned on using the shower, but it was not a deal breaker. The on site manager, Caitie, was very apologetic and pleasant. The next morning it was fixed.

Also, there is no WIFI access or TV access. This was not an issue for us.

Thanks for the stay Tracee, you have a lovely property and wonderful cabin, we'd love to stay again sometime!

Owner's Response: I am so sorry about the shower. We got the plumber there on a rush basis, and I am glad he took care of it right away. We look forward to having you back--and remember we have canoes for FREE. This is the 1st time since we opened--4 years ago--that something has broken. I am so very sorry. Tracee

The property faces the Colo river where it meets the wetlands and Shadow Mtn. Lake. You look to open Forest Service land and then gorgeous, snow-covered peaks along the continental divide. Kayak or canoe ( equipment included on us) with the Osprey, or use our paddle boat or reading dock, with zero gravity reclining chairs, located right where the river enters the lake, with the best view in Grand County.

The town borders Rocky Mtn. National Park and is located on the highest natural glacier- formed lake in Colo, and has the highest yacht club in the world.
