3 Bedrooms/3 Bathroom CHARMING Victorian-Era Home, Sleeps up to 6 ADULTS

Ditch your car keys and discover Real Wine Country on foot or bicycle from our 1889 Historical Cottage right in the Town Center. A short 5 minute walk will take you right into the Sonoma Plaza where you will find world-class restaurants, numerous tasting rooms, shops, galleries, festivals and so much more! You have arrived at the #1 destination spot for Sonoma County travelers.

Imagine. We are within two blocks to The Girl & The Fig, El Dorado Kitchen, The Sunflower Café, the Sonoma Cyclery, Whole Foods Market, and the Sonoma Market--just to name a few destinations. Your pedestrian paradise will include passing old adobe storefronts, sunlit courtyards, enchanting alleyways, and exploring historic California landmarks. You can even stand on the site of the original (California) Bear Flag raising, at the monument on the northeast corner of the Plaza. Did you know that Sonoma was a former Spanish Mission village and military outpost where the Republic of California was claimed from Mexico?

That’s not all. Our vacation home is exceptionally charming, tastefully decorated, and offers you a genuine Sonoma living experience. Our 1889 renovated Victorian-era Cottage will embrace you with comfort and convenience during your stay. All rooms are bright & colorful – each boasting its own Sonoma contemporary style. Please view our pictures, and you'll agree.

Our reviews speak for themselves about the kind of experience you can expect. We are responsive, caring, diligent, and genuinely care about our guests being 100% satisfied with their stay.

Come explore the whole of Sonoma Valley, the birthplace of California’s wine industry. We offer an ideal base from which to explore not only the Plaza area, but Sonoma Valley, neighboring wine regions (Glen Ellen & Kenwood), the Sonoma Coast, and the S.F. Bay Area at large. We are just a 45 minute drive into San Francisco.

About Kathy and David

Being native to the Bay Area (and fellow wine lovers), we have been traveling to Sonoma County for many years, using VRBO & Homeaway, encountering some great experiences. It has been a long process, but we finally were able to purchase our first vacation home on Sonoma Mountain in 2012. Because we fell in love with Sonoma (again), we also wanted a 'city' property close to the Sonoma Plaza. Better yet, one with history, dating back to all that was happening in Sonoma in the late 19th Century. Now, we want to share it with other travelers seeking all that this area has offer, and hope that you will love it too!

Kathy and David purchased this house in 2013

Why Kathy and David chose Sonoma County

What is not to love about Sonoma, especially right near the Plaza? There are unending things to do and see--wine tasting, eating experiences, historical site-seeing, outdoor adventure and shopping!

What makes this house unique

Remodeled, Historical 1889 house with the feel of Old-Sonoma, but updated and just adorable. We are a 5 minute walk from the Plaza--no need to drive anywhere! The Plaza has so much to offer--wineries, eateries, Square fun (festivals, events, farmer's markets, etc.).

Guestbook comments from the owner

A home away from home, delightfully comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived from Perth Western Australia we were thankful to be able to relax in such a charming and comfortable cottage. It was the personal touches that made it like home, the fresh flowers, the bottle of wine and even a little gift for our granddaughter!

Our daughter, son in law and young granddaughter shared the cottage with us and we appreciated the attractive bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs which were exceptional. The powder room downstairs was so convenient and the cosy living area beckoned repose.

We came to Sonoma Valley to celebrate our youngest daughter’s marriage to her American sweetheart. The cottage is centrally located so that we could easily walk to the Plaza and come home to a tranquil place at the end of the day.

Owners Kathy and David and Manager, Jeanine demonstrated care for our welfare right from the initial booking. Thank You for making our stay at Sonoma Vintage Cottage in the enchanting Sonoma Valley such a special and memorable experience for us. We will always remember our stay with much affection and joy.

This house is a great fine!!! You won't be disappointed!

Our stay at the Sonoma Vintage Cottage was fantastic from start to finish. We were a party of 4 ( 2 couples) and we absolutely loved being a couple blocks from Sonoma Square. We walked to dinner every night and really enjoyed the Tuesday night festivities in the square. The house was very comfortable and we felt right at home hanging out at the kitchen table and enjoying dinner in the courtyard. Check in and check out was very easy. The owners answered all our questions before our arrival and were great about recommending wineries, restaurants and a great drive through coffee shop that we visited daily. If and when we come back to Sonoma I would rent this house again. Thanks Kathy and David for a great week. We loved Sonoma and hope to visit again soon!

Our stay at the Sonoma Vintage Cottage was absolutely wonderful.

  • 5 of 5

The Sonoma Vintage Cottage is a fantastic "home away from home" get away. It was equipped with all the essentials including kitchen, bath and bedroom supplies. It was exactly as it is described in the VRBO website. It is a very short walk to supermarkets and the beautiful Sonoma Square. The Square is packed with wonderful restaurants, wine and gift shops. The Square has festivals and art shows and is a great place to hang out at night, enjoy the beautiful trees, have a picnic lunch/dinner and even enjoy a bottle of wine (it's allowed inside the Square!). The fantastic Sonoma Valley wineries are a very short drive from the house. Kathy and David are excellent hosts; they were so helpful as we planned our first ever trip to Sonoma. They provide excellent recommendations for restaurants, sights to see and tour suggestions (Take the "Sonoma Food Tour", it is a fantastic walking tour of the Square and includes wine, cheese and food sampling and Mia gives a exciting history of the Sonoma Square. "Destination Drivers" is a great wine touring company , they drive your car while you enjoy wine tastings at the countless wineries in the Valley. Laurie will even help select wineries to visit if you'd like). Both tours are wonderful and affordable. We absolutely enjoyed our time in Sonoma and we will definitely book this house on our next visit to Sonoma. Thank you Kathy and David for sharing your Sonoma Vintage Cottage with us.

One of the nicest houses we've stayed at in Sonoma

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have vacationed in Sonoma for a last seven years. We have rented different houses based on the size of our group. We rented this home since we were a smaller group and wanted the convenience of being close to downtown. The home is cozy and you can see how much the owners, Kathy and David, have put into making it a nice place to stay. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms are super clean and the kitchen is fully stocked. Note that there is no laundry for use at the house. We have two young children, so that's something we just had to plan for throughout the week. All worked out though, I highly recommend this home!

Owner's Response: Suzzy, THANK YOU for being so thoughtful, considerate and responsive to work with. AND, we are very pleased that you fully enjoyed the comfort of the house, our amenities, and convenience in being so very close to downtown. Regarding laundry service, we DO offer laundry service, depending on your length of stay (see amenities section on our listing). Jeanine, our House Manager, will gladly pick up and drop off your laundry, so you don't have to bother with all the time it would take to do it yourself on your vacation.

perfect spot for a weekend with friends.

  • 5 of 5

This little cottage is just a pictured- super cute and clean. We were two couples in town for memorial day weekend. The queen beds were comfy and the linens and towels plentiful. The bunk bed mattress is a bit hard but as a bunkbed I think it would mainly be for children not adults. The kitchen had a fair amount of extras like condiments/olive oil, plastic baggies, salt pepper and even some welcome wine so take look before you head to the store. We didn't use the bbq or the yard so can't comment on that. We used the wifi which worked fine, did not use the TV. We chose to just have the windows open rather than use AC as it cools down nicely at night and we all prefer fresh air. Communication was easy and the keyless entry worked perfectly too... The driveway has room for one car but we were able to find parking on the street for our second car. We went to the music festival at bottlerock two days taking the shuttle from the plaza which is an easy walk. The only downside to that was that the bus did not get back until very very late but that is the festival not the home owner...We are in our 50's and 60's and I think those long festival days may be easier for the younger crowd. It is easy to walk to cute shops, places to eat and even wine taste. As it is mentioned in the description you WILL hear church bells on the hour starting at 7 am- so sleeping in is a little tricky but a pair of earplugs worked for me .. I certainly would recommend this cottage as home base for two couples or a small family.

Owner's Response: Thanks Hannah--It was our pleasure to host you and your friends in Sonoma. We are happy you enjoyed our home, amenities and responsive service. Regarding our bunk beds, many adults have found them to be comfortable, depending on your preference for mattress softness. (We noticed that you used only the top bunk, and for our single adults staying in that room, we suggest using the lower bunk as it is more accessible and convenient to use.) Yes, we are in the heart of the Sonoma Plaza District, across from St. Francis Solano Church, where you will hear bells that many of our guests find charming and representative of a historic, downtown feel. Thanks again for staying with us!

Perfect location for a girls weekend!

  • 5 of 5

This home is beautiful. It was very clean, decorated beautifully, and stocked with many amenities. The owner, Kathy, was wonderful to work with. She was organized, responsive, and very friendly. The house manager, Jeanne, was also very accommodating by providing us with an early check-in time. The house is in the perfect location - right by the Plaza and close to the grocery store, restaurants, running trails, etc. Highly recommend!
