About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

••PLEASE NOTE: Beginning in August we will be actively working on the 2nd cabin at High Falls. It is our goal to have The Kennedy Cabin at High Falls with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms open for rentals by the SPRING 2017 rental season. We want our Eagles Nest renters to know that if you book a stay any WEEKDAYS between August and February there will be construction going on next door. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause but the result will be another amazing cabin to offer to you as the perfect weekend getaway. Each cabin has their own private driveway and there is over 300 feet separating the cabins, but you will be able to hear the construction noise next door. If you feel that this may interfere with your vacation, we recommend that you book your reservation after May 1, 2017. Thank you for your understanding!

•••Also, we will have opened another LARGE cabin rental on Lake Guntersville. Barnwood Lodge and all of our vacation rental cabins were featured on the hit DIY Network show, Barnwood Builders this past Summer as part of Season 3. Tune in to the DIY Network, Barnwood Builders and look for Season 3 Epsiode 7 to see us! •••

****************Be sure and check out our 3D VIRTUAL TOUR link at the very bottom of our listing in the "LINKS TO MORE INFORMATION section!!! You will think you are already on vacation:-)

Welcome to Eagles Nest at High Falls. This cabin is a 10-year dream for my husband and myself. This 'new' cabin is perfectly appointed. It was originally built in New Market, Alabama in 1836 and has been carefully moved and rebuilt on its present site high atop the mountain overlooking the Tennessee Valley Divide and Town creek. You will feel like you are a million miles away from everything but are only a 30 minute drive to many great restaurants and great shopping in downtown Guntersville. You are also only 20 minutes to Guntersville State Park with its hiking, fishing and swimming just to name a few of its amenities. Drive 30 minutes in the other direction and you can choose to visit Buck's Pocket State Park or High Falls Park, where for those with a great sense of adventure, (or a lack of better judgment), can jump off of the 40 foot Falls into to swimming hole below. The cabin itself boasts 8' to 12' wide hand hewn poplar logs, the original pine and poplar floors have been refinished while maintaining as much of the original character and patina as possible. The home is furnished with many period appropriate antiques and a King size bed made from reclaimed barn wood from the 1800's. A study complete with a desk and an incredible view of the gorge below is just off the master bedroom and would make a perfect spot for pastors seeking a time of prayer and retreat and sermon planning. The plush sofa and chairs in the family room make relaxing easy. The rocking chairs on the front porch offer a place to sit and watch the sunset over the mountains around you while listening to the sound of the water running over the two waterfalls on either side of the almost 10 acres atop the mountain. During the winter months Bald Eagles nest along the bluff and can be seen soaring along the rim of the bluff and you will have a front row seat. Eagles Nest at High Falls is the perfect spot for just one and would be an ideal place for a couple’s getaway too, but it will sleep up to 4 people. Please keep that in mind for any prayer and “rest” retreats that you or any of your friends church leaders might need. We do offer Gift Certificates! Quote from a recent visitor to Eagles Nest at High Falls' who needs to go to Gatlinburg when you have a place this amazing right in your own back yard!' Summer and Fall dates are filling up fast! Hurry and make your getaway plans soon! Check out our calendar link to see if one of our open dates would be perfect for you. •••••Tell your husband to whisk you away on a romantic retreat to the mountains. ••••

About Karen

My husband and I have 4 wonderful children and we manage 2 vacation rental properties which I have renovated.

Karen purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Karen chose Alabama Mountains

The view from this mountaintop is absolutely amazing and was the perfect spot for us to relocate the cabin to.

What makes this cabin unique

Breathtaking views, hiking, watching the wildlife around you. One of the most unique benefits you will receive is solitude and peace.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We took a nice three day weekend vacation over Veteran’s day weekend to Guntersville, Alabama. I spent many childhood vacations at Guntersville State Park, so I have many great memories there when I was my son's age. This seemed like a fun place to take him for a weekend filled with nature, quietness and togetherness. When I stumbled upon this cabin that has quite an awesome story behind it, I knew I just had to book it to stay here on vacation. According to the VRBO listing, it was originally built in New Market, Alabama in 1836 and has been carefully moved and rebuilt on its present site high atop the mountain overlooking the Tennessee Valley Divide and Town creek. The story of the cabin is what drew me to the place, but I could not have prepared for just how awe-inspiring it would be once we arrived to this sacred piece of Earth. There was only one other house as far as we could see in any direction. The silence was wonderfully deafening. There aren’t quite enough words to describe how peaceful and beautiful this place was. Seriously, no detail was left overlooked. Everything was perfection. To think that the original cabin was built over 175 years ago just blows my mind. You HAVE to watch the video above if you have a minute to see the whole story from start to finish. Cozy And Secluded with Stunning Views

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely amazing! If you want to get away with no cell service or wifi and enjoy nature, then this is the place! My wife and I were looking to get away for our anniversary and found this cabin while looking at places a few hours from home. The history behind this place is fantastic and the views are some of the best I have seen. We got to see the new cabin on the property and take a tour of it as well. This is an amazing property and we cannot wait to visit again!

Just Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Once again we enjoyed our stay at Eagle's Nest. We love it because you just get to enjoy God's creation and each other. Yes it was 72 degrees outside, but we still built a fire and sat around it and read and enjoyed the sunshine. Just everything about this place is ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL !!! This time we had an additional treat, "Mister", the precious basset hound/mix that came to visit on Saturday and Sunday. He is so loving !!!! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your cabin. We will be back !!!!

Beautiful scenery, peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

We felt this cabin was much better than the pictures. The view was amazing, the cabin was decorated wonderfully, and the whole atmosphere was very relaxing. It feels very private and has a wonderful overlook, which is what we were looking for. We also greatly enjoyed the neighbor dog who paid us several visits. There are several beautiful parks nearby to visit and experience nature. Highly recommend visiting this cabin!

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful cabin to get away from it all. We celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary and can't wait to come back. As we stepped thru the door we felt at home. It was cozy and inviting. I loved having a fireplace in the kitchen. It had everything one could need. Plus the view was amazing.

The greatest way to relax with breathtaking views!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 1 year anniversary trip. All we wanted was a weekend to ourselves to unwind with no schedule or to-do list. That's EXACTLY what we got! We left once, to run to the store, and didn't have to go anywhere else for the entire weekend. We made our Wal-Mart trip prior to making our way up the mountain, which I highly recommend because you won't want to leave once you get here! They have put a lot of hard work and detail into this place, it really does feel like home. The views are breathtaking! I already can't wait to go back next year! I recommend this cabin to any couple needing to remember what it was like before kids and a hectic schedule.
