••PLEASE NOTE: Beginning in August we will be actively working on the 2nd cabin at High Falls. It is our goal to have The Kennedy Cabin at High Falls with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms open for rentals by the Winter 2016 rental season. We want our Eagles Nest renters to know that if you book a stay any WEEKDAYS between August and December there will be construction going on next door. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause but the result will be another amazing cabin to offer to you as the perfect weekend getaway. Each cabin has their own private driveway and there is over 300 feet separating the cabins, but you will be able to hear the construction noise next door. If you feel that this may interfere with your vacation, we recommend that you book your reservation after December 1. Thank you for your understanding!
•••Also, we will be opening another LARGE cabin rental on Lake Guntersville in mid July 2016. We will begin taking reservations for Barnwood Lodge, vrbo.com/817637 in late May. Barnwood Lodge and all of our vacation rental cabins will be featured on the hit DIY Network show, Barnwood Builders this Summer as part of Season 3. Tune in to the DIY Network on May 29 at 8:00pm CST to see more of our 1800's log cabins on Barnwood Builders! •••
Welcome to Eagles Nest at High Falls. This cabin is a 10-year dream for my husband and myself. This 'new' cabin is perfectly appointed. It was originally built in New Market, Alabama in 1836 and has been carefully moved and rebuilt on its present site high atop the mountain overlooking the Tennessee Valley Divide and Town creek. You will feel like you are a million miles away from everything but are only a 30 minute drive to many great restaurants and great shopping in downtown Guntersville. You are also only 20 minutes to Guntersville State Park with its hiking, fishing and swimming just to name a few of its amenities. Drive 30 minutes in the other direction and you can choose to visit Buck's Pocket State Park or High Falls Park, where for those with a great sense of adventure, (or a lack of better judgment), can jump off of the 40 foot Falls into to swimming hole below. The cabin itself boasts 8' to 12' wide hand hewn poplar logs, the original pine and poplar floors have been refinished while maintaining as much of the original character and patina as possible. The home is furnished with many period appropriate antiques and a King size bed made from reclaimed barn wood from the 1800's. A study complete with a desk and an incredible view of the gorge below is just off the master bedroom and would make a perfect spot for pastors seeking a time of prayer and retreat and sermon planning. The plush sofa and chairs in the family room make relaxing easy. The rocking chairs on the front porch offer a place to sit and watch the sunset over the mountains around you while listening to the sound of the water running over the two waterfalls on either side of the almost 10 acres atop the mountain. During the winter months Bald Eagles nest along the bluff and can be seen soaring along the rim of the bluff and you will have a front row seat. Eagles Nest at High Falls is the perfect spot for just one and would be an ideal place for a couple’s getaway too, but it will sleep up to 4 people. Please keep that in mind for any prayer and “rest” retreats that you or any of your friends church leaders might need. We do offer Gift Certificates! Quote from a recent visitor to Eagles Nest at High Falls' who needs to go to Gatlinburg when you have a place this amazing right in your own back yard!' Summer and Fall dates are filling up fast! My husband and I have 4 wonderful children and we manage 2 vacation rental properties which I have renovated.
Karen purchased this cabin in 2010
The view from this mountaintop is absolutely amazing and was the perfect spot for us to relocate the cabin to.
Breathtaking views, hiking, watching the wildlife around you. One of the most unique benefits you will receive is solitude and peace.
We took a nice three day weekend vacation over Veteran’s day weekend to Guntersville, Alabama. I spent many childhood vacations at Guntersville State Park, so I have many great memories there when I was my son's age. This seemed like a fun place to take him for a weekend filled with nature, quietness and togetherness. When I stumbled upon this cabin that has quite an awesome story behind it, I knew I just had to book it to stay here on vacation. According to the VRBO listing, it was originally built in New Market, Alabama in 1836 and has been carefully moved and rebuilt on its present site high atop the mountain overlooking the Tennessee Valley Divide and Town creek. The story of the cabin is what drew me to the place, but I could not have prepared for just how awe-inspiring it would be once we arrived to this sacred piece of Earth. There was only one other house as far as we could see in any direction. The silence was wonderfully deafening. There aren’t quite enough words to describe how peaceful and beautiful this place was. Seriously, no detail was left overlooked. Everything was perfection. To think that the original cabin was built over 175 years ago just blows my mind. You HAVE to watch the video above if you have a minute to see the whole story from start to finish. The cabin was far more luxurious, clean, tastefully decorated and well equipped than we expected. The kitchen and bathroom had everything you would need (except food of course). The bed was very comfortable for old folks like us with bad backs. We appreciated and marveled at the details of the construction of the antique cabin and loved the porches and decks. You couldn't ask for more privacy and quiet. The owner immediately replied to our request and the reservation confirmed quickly and easily. The instructions for the stay were well written and very thorough. If you want a remote, private, intriguing, comfortable cabin for a getaway, this is a perfect place for a stress-free retreat.
This was our second trip to Eagle's Nest, and everything about it was just as fantastic as the first. From initial booking with the owners to the finer details of the cabin, we couldn't be happier. This was a belated anniversary trip, and it's something we'll always have wonderful memories of. Thanks once again for the attention you've shown the cabin/property, it shows from top to bottom.
This cabin was amazing! My family and I really enjoyed being at the cabin, we found it hard to leave to go out to see the surrounding area. The cabin is very well appointed, it has all the comforts of home and more.
You can tell the owner has put this log home back together with love and pride, along with the other cabins they own.
The cabin was quiet and secluded. We went to fish Guntersville Lake which was close to the cabin. Loved the decor and the time away. We did experience trouble with the AC and the owners were quick to reply and have workers there and refunded us for inconvienience. It was great to get away and relax at this very cool cabin. We highly recommend it for a romantic getaway as well.
Words cannot express how much we enjoyed the cabin so I'll just highlight the wonderful things about it:
* Quiet, isolated and peaceful. Be prepared to be serenaded by the whippoorwills every night.
* High end furnishings; doesn't seem like someone's investment property, personal character.
* Hot tub is wonderfully placed and there's complete privacy.
* Linens are high end and the king sized bed is super comfy.
A few things to know:
* Take a few rolls of TP as there are only 2 rolls.
* There's no sweet tea pitcher.
* There are birds who live in one of the chimneys so make sure the flue is closed.
* Take extra reading material; I read thru all the magazines in 1 1/2 days.
* If you drive to Albertville, know that the bridge is out and you'll have to find your own detour!
* Do not order the filet mignon from Outlaw Steakhouse as it isn't a true filet, Order a ribeye instead.
And the following is information that may be good or bad; depending on you!
* No wifi internet access AT ALL.
* No cell phone access AT ALL.
* No cable or satellite TV AT ALL; just antennae TV so be ready to watch The Brady Bunch and old Johnny Carson reruns.
Overall experience was fabulous! We escaped the real world and wasn't looking forward to leaving. We spent 9 days there and found peace.
The cabin has been beautifully restored and has a fantastic rustic aesthetic throughout. The location is easy to get to but feels secluded and very much "off the beaten path", which is perfect for a quick getaway. Provided amenities were fantastic and the fully stocked kitchen was a huge plus for us. It rained during our weekend so we were mostly inside, but the enclosed porch was a lovely place to watch the rain and just do some reading. Overall, this was a perfect weekend getaway and we will definitely return!
