Beautiful, sunny first floor apartment with three bedrooms and original wood work in Boston’s Pondside neighborhood of Jamaica Plain (JP). The house is perfectly located on a tree-lined street a few blocks from Jamaica Pond, the 39 MBTA bus, excellent restaurants, a public library, a bakery, and much more. The Orange Line train is less than a ten minute walk away and there is also free on-street parking. JP is known for its open green spaces (Jamaica Pond, The Arboretum, Franklin Park, the Southeast Corridor, and the Muddy River) and also for its restaurants and independently owned shops. Downtown Boston is a short bus, train, or car ride away and Fenway Park is just 2.5 miles away.
The apartment has wifi, television, laundry, new appliances, a microwave, a blow dryer, iron/ironing board, and a renovated eat-in kitchen that is fully equipped. The dining room table opens to seat 10-12.
Each of the three bedrooms has a queen size bed. The living room has a queen sleeper couch (there are a total of 4 queen size beds). The apartment is family friendly with a backyard with plenty of patio furniture and a play set with swings.
It's a great apartment in a great location!
There is a minimum stay of 3 nights (but...I accept bookings for two nights when there are only two consecutive nights available).
I am originally from New York, but have lived in the upstairs unit of the house for 25 years. I consult to non profits in public health and adult basic education. I like traveling and being outdoors.
Marian Milbauer purchased this apartment in 1991
I bought my house 25 years ago because it's on a beautiful tree-lined street in the Boston neighborhood Jamaica Plain (JP). JP has great restaurants, shops, parks, public transportation, culture, farmer's markets, and more.
This house was a great fit for our family of six. Our kids loved the playground set. The neighborhood was very accessible to the T and the local restaurants. Thanks for a great stay!
This was a perfect apartment for housing some members of our far-flung family over the Christmas holiday. Although we had dinners at my daughter's nearby home, the well equipped kitchen allowed us to do a lot of cooking and baking. The box of toys in the closet made my 3 year old granddaughter feel welcome when she visited. The beds are super comfortable with ample bedding for chilly winter nights. The neighborhood couldn't be better. Whole Foods is a 5 minute walk. There are a wonderful range of cafes and restaurants in easy walking distance. Downtown Boston is an easy bus ride. We look forward to returning. Thank you, Marian!
The house was very spacious. We would have loved a second bathroom but we understand the restraints of an older home. The beds were all very comfortable. The kitchen met all of our needs and we appreciated having laundry in the house. The house was nice and clean.
We enjoyed visiting Boston very much. This 3 bedroom was very comfortable with everything we needed and in a very nice neighborhood.
Stayed here for three nights with my wife and 4 kids (who are all ten years old and younger). Couldn't have imaged a better place to stay! Marian was very responsive with all questions before and during our stay. She lives on the floor above the rental and is literally on top of things! :) That being said, she is very respectful and honors your privacy (we only ran into each other once during our stay). It is an older home, with an updated kitchen and bathroom and has all of the modern appliances, including a washer and dryer (which is a necessity when travelling with kids). It has a ton of character, but isn't "over the top fancy" (i.e. I didn't have to feel like a zambonie and follow my kids every step of the way out of fear of breaking something). In fact, it is "kid friendly;" she had several boxes of toys and a playground set in the backyard. The beds are extremely comfortable (a queen in each bedroom). The property does not have air conditioning, but does have six fans (we kept them in the bedrooms at night and family room/kitchen during the day). There are two grocery stores within walking distance along with several restaurants. CVS is a two minute walk from the property and the Stony Brook station on the Orange Line of the T (subway) is a 0.5 mile walk. Fenway is 2.5 miles away. We had our refund returned less than three hours of checking out and will stay here again when we return to Boston. I give Marian and this property my highest recommendation!
The rooms are very spacious and the property is well maintained. We were a little concerned about the lack of air conditioning in late May when it became unseasonably hot, but it was fine.
There are many wonderful things to do and see in Boston and my apartment, in the neighborhood of Jamaica Plain (JP), is the perfect place for a home base. JP is known for its open green spaces (Jamaica Pond, The Arboretum, Franklin Park, the Southeast Corridor, and the Muddy River) and also for its great restaurants and independently owned shops. Downtown Boston is only a short bus, train, or car ride away. Fenway Park and the Museum of Fine Arts are both just ~2.5 miles away. It's the perfect location!
