We began as renters over Fourth of July 2000 and fell in love with the house, the neighbors, the views and the entire area. We returned every summer for the next 10 years at which point we were presented with the opportunity to buy it. We had scoured the length and breadth of Whidbey Island for all of those 10 years looking for a sanctuary to call our own. Nothing matched the joy, serenity, comfort and sense of community we had come to cherish at 21 Shorebird Lane. Until we are able to call it home for good, we enjoy sharing our home with our wonderful guests.
Janet Burchfield, Front Street Realty, Property Manager purchased this house in 2010
Serenity. Tranquility. Beauty. You feel like you are floating on the water as you sink into a comfy arm chair by the window, sipping hot coffee or tea. Bald eagles, in all their majesty, standing at the water's edge at low tide never cease to inspire awe. Feasting on Dungeness crab, caught a stone's throw from the porch, can't be beat. You will never find friendlier, more helpful neighbors than those on Shorebird Lane.
Thank you for letting us stay at your home. We came for Race Week and should have rented a home on the beach a lot sooner. We've been coming to Race Week since 1987. We caught lots of crab, went clam digging, and loved exploring beaches. Met very nice neighbors and shared lots of stories and crabbing tips. A very relaxing and enjoyable week. We got 2nd in our sailing class, too!
This property is awesome!! The accommodations are great and spacious especially for my family of 8! We went crabbing almost everyday and there was definitely not a shortage of crab :) Beautiful Mt. Baker view with stunning sunrises! Love this property! Will definitely stay again!
The spaciousness of your home allowed us to invite our family members from Oak Harbor to a barbeque/birthday party for our son who turned 21. I am an early bird and enjoy getting up before the sun. The rest of the family love to sleep in. Your home allowed us to have the best of both worlds. I would get up and write in my journal, read your library of books regarding the Island and simply sip on a cup of coffee watching the sun come up. The washer and dryer was a big plus if we needed anything laundered. Again, the views and privacy were nothing short of fantastic. The only negative remark we could possibly come up with was our last 2 nights we had jets flying over for at least 4 hours late in the night. but that will not stop us from coming back. Thank You so much for making our stay so comfortable. Thank You, Clyde, Susan, Chase, Clare, & Samantha
We absolutely LOVED this home. We went with 3 kids 1 teen, 4 adults, and a dog. We were able to see nature with the beautiful large windows. The house was clean and they had lots of things you may possibly need. Definitely coming back.
We drove up from Seattle to the Shorebird House for a weekend getaway and birthday celebration. The house is so beautiful with fantastic views of the water and all the wildlife that lived nearby. It was unbelievably relaxing to sit by the windows facing the ocean and listen to the waves. Everything needed was included and we even found some breakfast items as well as local coffee grounds on the kitchen table when we arrived! The house is also conveniently located near the downtown as well as driving distance to the ferry to Port Townsend. The trip was so much fun and it felt like we were living at home--it was perfect!
We love the one level three bedroom house with ocean access and views. There is nothing like a glass of wine or morning cup of coffee seating and enjoying the waves, beach, boats, birds and sea life! Thank you!
The house and property are great. Being right on the water is so relaxing. There is so much to do on the island and others as well. We really enjoyed it. Judy
