Best 40th Birthday Bash Ever!

  • 5 of 5

A group of friends stayed at Blueberry for my friends 40th Birthday. In total, there were probably around 25 people including kids. The birthday boy and immediate family stayed in the main cabin which worked out perfectly. We also used this cabin as the main cooking area and to enjoy the amazing views at Blueberry. We took all, but one, of the public camping spots right on the beach and a few people brought motorhomes. There is no where to service the motorhomes so they didn't get power, but they were mainly used to sleep in. We spent most of our days down at the beach which is boat access only (unless you stay at Blueberry!) so it is very private. The water was the perfect temperature, our kids basically lived in the lake. We brought a canoe and a paddle board and enjoyed them on the lake. One day we rented a boat in town which was a 20-30min drive away and then just docked it on the beach all day when we weren't using it. We hiked to the local waterfall which was a super easy hike and very beautiful. My 5 year old and 3 year old twins had no problem doing the loop. I think it took about 1.5 hours with stops along the way to see the falls. I didn't notice any mosquitos at this time of year. Steve, the owner is super accommodating and really wants his guests to have the most memorable time. A lot of the people we went up with were into jamming so there were a lot of instruments around. One night it happened to rain, so Steve cleared out part of his massive garage and set up a stage and brought down a generator. This is were we spent most of our evenings! There is a town about 15 min drive away if you need any supplies or ice. If you are looking for something off the beaten path, that is breathtakingly beautiful, quite and relaxing, then this rental is for you!!

Relaxation plus!!

  • 5 of 5

Blueberry is an "off the beaten track paradise". We took our grandkids there for a week and each and everyone of us loved it. The cabin was huge, decorated excellently, and had everything we could need. Our grandkids are water babies and loved the fact that we had our own beach to do what we wanted to when we wanted to. They swam and then could not wait to get back to the cabin and have fun there also. We did not have to worry about the kids and traffic or other visitors intruding our space! Steve was just wonderful, checking up on us at least a couple of times a day to make sure we were not in need of anything, and we appreciate his hospitality and genuine concern for our needs. Hated to leave this most relaxing wonderland and get back to reality. Totally recommend Blueberry Springs for a wonderful family experience!!!

Hidden Paradise

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about this property! I went up for a cousins bacherlorette party. It was perfect! The pictures online don't do it justice. When you first arrive there, you just say Wow! and then you keep saying that your whole stay. It's really in the middle of no where. It's peaceful and beautiful. The cabin (that is available now - there are more to come - yay!) is very cute and the decor is so perfectly detailed. There is plenty to do there, you can hike to an awesome waterfall, swim in the lake, pick wild flowers, play in the creek, read in the hammock, sit by the fire, take a bath in the best bathroom ever! Some of us gals even slept in there because it was so welcoming! If you want to get away from the city and just relax, this is the perfect place to go. We are already planning our next trip there!

The property was clean and well-maintained. The owner Steve went above and beyond what we could have asked for. He was so helpful! He really made sure that our stay was perfect and we had everything that we needed.

I would recommend this property to a friend, relative, or anyone looking for the perfect vacation property! I will be going back with my family and a possible family reunion will be held here once Steve gets his other cabins up and running.

To get to this property, it's after a long logging road, so the only advice I would give is to take the logging road super slow cause the logging trucks move very very fast.

Other than that, you would not be dissapointed if you were to stay at Blueberry Springs!

Quintessential "Cabin in the Woods"

  • 5 of 5

What can I say!? My family had an absolutely incredible time at Blueberry Springs! The breathtaking beauty, mixed with the real wilderness experience make it a perfect family getaway. We saw an incredible amount of wildlife, big and small. Picked endless amounts of wild strawberries, blueberries and huckleberries. Played in our own private Shuswap cove. Hiked the Albas falls trail a couple of times. Endless amounts of smores eating and hammock swinging truly made it an unforgettable family holiday. My life feels fuller after having experienced a week in this beautiful tucked away paradise. We definitely would love to come back! Steve and Lesley make the most gracious host and hostess. Thank-you so much for your hospitality!

Two notes:

(1) the true wilderness does not come without bugs... My Off Skintastic was not quite potent enough for those little suckers. Make sure to bring Deep Woods.

(2) The upper loft bedroom is accessible via a ladder... which is ok for older kids, but made it a little challenging with my Mr. Independent 2 year old. Need to keep an eye on the little ones just to make sure they have helping hands.

Not to mention... the best holiday my dog has ever been on... :)

True Cottage Experience!!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking to get away from it all, enjoy the outdoors and have your own secluded beach..then Blueberry Springs is the place for you. Spent a week here with my family (4 kids) and couldn't ask for anything better. Cottage was well maintained and clean with a great little loft for the kids. Nice big deck to sit out on and having a fire in the river rock fire place is a perfect way to end the day.

With no T.V. available (this is a plus), my kids spent time exploring the creek bed, collecting drift wood, rocks, playing games and reading. I finished 4 books myself that week. The best though is the beach. We spent time here swimming, body surfing, skipping stones and just enjoying being with the family and with no one else around, it was PERFECT!

Steve (Owner) was awesome. Helpful, friendly and most of all wants to make sure you enjoy your stay. Plus, he is a dead ringer for Tom Selleck from Magnum P.I.

Would highly recommend Blueberry Springs if you really want to get away and just relax. It was more than we expected and we will definitely be back.

Disappointing - Only Suitable for 2 People!

  • 2 of 5

We have a lot of experience with VRBO properties and this is a very small cabin and is only suitable for 2 adults and possibly 2 toddlers. For the cost of this property, you should be getting a much larger cabin with more comfortable/clean furnishings. The Beach is not within view, the stereo does not work and the cabin needs cleaning up.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review letter regarding your vacation stay at Blueberry Springs. This is our first and only negative review since opening our place for rental four years ago. We take any issues seriously. As with all our guests, I personally walk through an orientation list to familiarize them with our cabin and property. Being available on site throughout their stay, I check in on a regular basis to ensure everything is to their satisfaction. At no time during your two week stay did anyone mention being unable to switch on the stereo, and in fact, upon your departure, I used the sound system while preparing for the next family. Blueberry Springs VRBO profile makes no mention of our cabin being on the beach and clearly states “Beaches are a short three minute stroll though Albas Park”. Our price point reflects the privacy enjoyed by our guests and the off grid nature of the property. We conduct a thorough cleaning of our cabin in preparation for the arrival of our holidaymakers and apologize for any oversights there may have been. Regarding the size of our cabin, it is a cozy 750 square feet. The cabin has an open concept vibe with bedroom area, sleeping loft, large open concept bathroom/lounge and combined kitchen/living room/dining room area. Currently we have a family of seven, with three adults and four children, all happy with their stay. Ones need for space and preference for style of accommodation is subjective. The cabin you rented is best suited to those who enjoy the outdoors and the simple charm that this original cabin offers. We are in the process of building 3 larger cabins on the property that will be more suitable for those holiday-goers looking for more spacious and luxurious accommodation, while enjoying this magical location. Wishing you many years of happy holidays with VRBO properties. Best regards, Steve Rappard
