Blowing Rock Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Amazing view, a great room, a deck with a view, comfortable and affordable

Caleb's Outlook is a great place to relax and enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains. It sits in a secluded, quiet neighborhood in Blowing Rock. With the high elevation and cool breeze blowing through the trees, you will experience an invigorating sense of peace as you sit on the deck while enjoying a nice cup of coffee in the morning or a grilled burger in the evening. From the living room and back deck, you have a wonderful mountain view , which changes with the seasons. In the spring (starting in late April) and on into the summer you have lots of green foliage to enjoy. In the background is Grandfather Mountain, which you can see even behind the trees. In the fall you can will love the full range of colors from the leaves- best seen throughout October. Grandfather Mountain comes into fullest view in late Fall and into the winter. During the snowy winter season you have a very clear view of the Grandfather Mountain, and you are very likely to see snow on the mountain tops, and often right in your neighborhood! You are sitting right on a mountain so you will be making the drive up to your vacation rental which is up at over 4,000 ft- but it's not a difficult climb, and you'll have no trouble driving to the house even in a regular sedan. The road has a slow incline which makes it a very safe and easy drive. Also, the parking deck- right in front of the house- is level and easy to park on.

Caleb's is a very comfortable place for relaxing. The deck is excellent for family meals and for enjoying the view. We offer an extensive Dish satellite tv package in the living room and bedroom. There is also a Wii set in the living room.

We have completed extensive upgrades the past three years in order to enhance your comfort and your overall vacation experience in Caleb's Outlook. If you choose to stay at Caleb's, we know you will find it to be the kind of scenic and restful home you will want to return to again and again. You'll enjoy the master bedroom with attached bath, with queen sized bed. Two more can sleep comfortably on the queen sized sofa in the living room. The spacious kitchen has everything you need to cook a full-course meal. You'll want to spend a lot of time on the deck, where you'll enjoy the quiet breezes and long range views. Gas grill, picnic table, and extra seating make it our favorite resting place at Caleb's. You'll also love strolling on the quiet, amazingly scenic streets- every few feet you'll be stunned at the mountain views you'll see!

You not only have a great view but also a perfect location. With a less than five minute drive from the house you are on the Parkway headed north or south. Or you may prefer to go on into downtown Blowing Rock (less than 10 minutes from the house) for the afternoon. Blowing Rock has many restaurants and shops, or you can drive a few more minutes and visit all your familiar restaurant chains in Boone . If you bring the children along you may want to try mining for gems- several mining attractions are located nearby. You can also enjoy Linville Falls and Caverns. Antiquing can be done within 10 miles of Caleb's- in all directions. Between Blowing Rock and Boone you will find lots of antique and specialty shops.

Grocery stores can be found in Blowing Rock and Boone ( which is only 10 minutes away). A beautiful drive to take is on the Parkway headed north- from the house, it's less than 5 minutes to the parkway. Traveling north on the parkway, you will find lots to see along the way and then you could enjoy what West Jefferson has to offer. In West Jefferson you will find antique shops, an Amish furniture store and a cheese factory. At the cheese factory you can pick up some wine and cheese.

Or head south on the parkway, and in less than 1/2 hour you will be at Linville Falls, which is an amazing hiking location. In Linville check out one of our favorite restaurants, Famous Louise's!

There is plenty of shopping- furniture, art, antiques, you name it- in Blowing Rock, Boone, and nearby Lenoir. Tweetsie Railroad, just 15 minutes away, offers plenty of fun for the whole family. Or, just stay in the beautiful cabin for the peace and quiet. Misty Mountain offers lots of serenity for those who love a true get-away.

Caleb's sits in a nice, well kept neighborhood where you will safe and secure. This home is perfect for individuals, couples, or a family of 3-4.

About By email: Tony

We are both educators working from home. We live part of our time on the western part of the state but still go back to spend time close to the coast of NC, close to our family. Caleb, our son, is now ten years old. We were fortunate enough to adopt him from China eight years ago. God has blessed us in many ways- in finding one another and in having such a loving family.

By email: Tony purchased this cottage in 2012

Why By email: Tony chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

Being in Misty Mountain is like being at home, but better. No matter what part of the North Carolina Mountains we visit from time to time we always end up back at Misty Mountain. This cottage is located in such an ideal setting. Very few cars coming and going next door, no barking dogs to wake you and the only stoplights are in town. Yet, it's close enough to the nearest restaurant, store, or any other sign of civilization you're looking for. It is just a great place to let your nerves settle. Take a cup of coffee out back and unwind. Or if you prefer you could enjoy a bottle of wine with a few crackers and cheese. You are away from it all but you do have nice quiet neighbors. Neighbors in Misty Mountain are quiet and the foliage gives you barriers. It cost little more than a hotel room but offers so much more. We will do everything we can to help take care of your needs while you stay at Caleb's Outlook.

What makes this cottage unique

The location is really quite ideal. Blowing Rock is touristy without being overdone. They have very nice restaurants, candy stores (including the famous Kilwins) and so much more. From the front, back or sides of Caleb's you see nothing but great scenery and nice houses sitting on perfectly landscaped yards. Misty Mountain neighborhood is full of upscale houses that has been a favorite vacation spot for many years. It is a neighborhood where you will feel safe. The roads are curvy and steep but in A1 shape as the local crews keep them free from leaves or snow, whichever the case may be.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Tony and Sybil

sorry that I missed you email. We left this morning at 5. That's jet lag for you. We'd finished both the Price Lake walk and gone up to the top of Linville Falls by 8:30. Everything was good AND your son was right about the stereotype - we brought tea with us! :-)

Thank you for having us

Great Place in a Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Caleb's Outlook from 01/21/13 - 01/25/13 and had a wonderful time. Holidaying from Australia, we were looking for a getaway with our infant son (who's name is Caleb as well funnily enough) and this was perfect for us. Everything we could of needed was catered for by the owners and they went out of their way to make us welcome.

Sitting on Misty Mountain we had a spectacular view of Grandfather Mountain straight from the living room. The cabin itself is spacious yet cosy and has all the amenities you could need. The cabin is close enough to Blowing Rock (and Boone) if you want to grab some food or do some shopping, but far enough away to be quite secluded. We really appreciated the fact we were able to keep to ourselves the whole time we were there.

Would just like to say a big thank you to owners as we had a great time and we couldn't have asked for more as far as the accommodation goes. We will definitely be staying there again when we come back.

Owner's Response: I don't think we could have done a better job with the review than you guys did. We really do appreciate your time and effort in doing the review for us. We have to say we did worry about you on that mountain during the cold, snowy weather. It is great to have such a gracious family and we are delighted that you had such a pleasant visit and we will be glad to have you return. I hope the rest of your time in USA went well!

Just So....

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Caleb's Outlook was just so relaxing, so comfortable, so convenient and so enjoyable. It was so quiet that we felt we were on the mountain all by ourselves. The cabin had everything we needed; we especially liked the smaller table for dining - that was a plus! The fireplace and mantle lights added to the ambiance of the great room; we texted a photo of Grandfather Mountain to our daughter in Nashville and she was jealous; then we texted a photo of the fireplace and she was "jealous through the roof!" Thank you, Tony and Sybil, for a wonderful late summer getaway for two SC Lowcountry folk who needed to escape the heat and humidity! You have provided a place that says, "Come, sit a while and enjoy!" We would definitely recommend Caleb's Outlook to friends and family.

Wonderful week!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent the first week of July at Caleb's Outlook. The cabin, the setting, the view, the cabin amenities all exceeded our expectations. The lights on the deck and on the mantle added the perfect touch to the "magic!" The location provided the peace and serenity of Misty Mountain and the proximity to Blowing Rock and other must-see spots. So much to see and do and not enough time for all of it. We will be back! Tony was responsive and helpful when we had a question. Thank you for a wonderful week!

Comfy, Cozy Cottage

  • 4 of 5

I had the pleasure of staying at Caleb’s Outlook for a week in May 2016. Although I’d lived in Blowing Rock before, this was my first stay on Misty Mountain and I already knew it was a lovely neighborhood only a short drive from Main Street in town. I was looking for a quiet retreat with a great view of Grandfather Mountain and I wasn’t disappointed, especially at sunset. The house was the perfect size for me and the type of home I’d consider purchasing for myself. It was cozy and comfortable and I had a peaceful, relaxing stay. “Just what the doctor ordered.” Since the temps ranged from the 70’s down to 32 degrees at the cottage while I was there, I was pleased that there was a gas fireplace, but the heating/cooling system worked well on both heat and a/c. The deck looked very cheerful at night, with the white twinkle lights wrapped around the railing. Everything worked properly. The upstairs bedroom had semi-sheer window treatments. Since I’m not an early riser, I would have liked additional room darkening shades or blinds on the windows in that room, but that’s my personal preference. Even though I was traveling by myself, I can easily imagine the house being roomy and comfortable enough for a family. I’d definitely stay here again.

Awesome Stay Everytime!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third time staying here. We love how close the home is to everything we want to do from hiking at Moses Cone and Grandfather Mountain to hanging out in Blowing Rock and Boone. They also have the best bath towels!

Notes:
Caleb's Outlook sits by Blue Ridge Parkway National Park. It's also right next to Pisgah National Forest. You are a short drive from downtown Blowing Rock, and an even shorter drive from the BlueRidge Parkway. You will find good fishing in several places within a 15 minute drive. There's so much to do in the area: waterfalls, picnic areas, shopping, museums, panning for gems and so much more. If you are the reclining type just go into town and get a delicious bag of candy or a decadent sundae, and come back and relax. If you like fancy restaurants then Blowing Rock has that too. Boone, 20 minutes away, has all sorts chain restaurants and other eateries. Linville Falls is about a half hour south of Caleb's. The Linville Falls hike is a short and memorable outing. So much to enjoy.
