We really liked Fawnskin. Quieter, calmer and more sunny than the Bear side of the lake. We loved the café in town and the little one-stop shop where we bought goods for making smores as well as a cheap new pair of gloves.

The cabin: After a very long drive, first thing we needed was the bathroom, naturally. The previous guest left a very large welcoming gift for us in the toilet that apparently the housekeepers had somehow missed! Rather rude welcome! And thetoilet didn't function, so I guess that's why it was there. Fortunately there's a second bathroom. We called the management and they did send someone right away to fix it. It was very nice to have a hot tub in the second bathroom. We hung out in the loft to sit by the fire, roast marshmallows and play board games in the evening. We let my son sleep up there because we weren't ready to go to bed yet and wanted to be able to use the kitchen, the hot tub, and maybe the old tube tv. The futon and the bunk beds downstairs were so uncomfortable we ended up sleeping on the sofa! Did not make for a good night's rest. The walls were so thin we could often hear the people in the neighboring cabin a few feet away when they were around. When they would leave, their dog would stand in the window and bark incessantly every single second until they returned. Not peaceful. The kitchen has dishes, but if you like to have a bowl of hot soup or cereal for breakfast, bring your own bowls because there aren't any in the cabin.

Perfectly met our needs

Nice, clean cabin right near the lake, and easy access to SR38. We enjoyed the big front yard for snow play right outside the door. The onsite representative (Trevor) was extremely helpful. I would definitely do business again with Cool Cabins.

Nice stay

  • 3 of 5

It was cozy and clean. Plenty of extra blankets & pillows. A couple lights didn't work (not sure if it was the bulb) and the DVD player didn't work. Also the hot water seemed to run out. But all in all it was a good time, nice stay, and friendly man who lived next door. I would cone back :)

Dirty Cabin

  • 1 of 5

We decided to stop by early, approx 3:20, to see if we could check in. The place had not been clean yet, which is fine because check in is at 4:00pm. We returned at 4:35 and the cleaning ladies were wrapping it up. When we accessed the lock box, the key was missing. I called the office, not very friendly, and I was told the key was in the lock box. She put me on hold to call the cleaning ladies and was told the key was left there. I again said the key was not there. She made me feel as if I didn't know what I was talking about. She asked me what she wanted me to do? Really? I obviously need the key. She said she would send the maintenance man but it might take some time. We found an open window shortly after and found the key on a window sill. Once inside I noticed the floors had not been swept or vacuumed. I found a small broom but no dustpan. The kitchen table was not clean and could tell the furniture had not been dusted in a while. I felt very dirty in this cabin. Wont be renting from them again.

Cute cozy cabin with a GREAT VIEW!

  • 4 of 5

Lots of fun, gas fire pit, close to town, but not too close. Sleeps seven easily... but needs a big water heater especially with the jacuzzi tub.
