About The Owner

My name is Connie and I met & married my husband Tony while we were both active duty Army. Tony works on helicopters and I work for the Custer YMCA. We share many hobbies and interests. We are both avid target shooters. I enjoy running and hiking in the Black Hills while Tony has a penchant for fishing. We have four children who keep us hopping.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2007

Why The Owner chose Black Hills

It is the perfect spot! Centrally located in the Black Hills, close to town and off the beaten path enough to be secluded but not isolated.

What makes this cabin unique

We have awesome views from both our home and the cabin! My favorite is winter. The trees are coated with snow. It is almost magical. In the spring, when a storm rolls through, the fog cascades down the mountain until we are enveloped in it. Beautiful!

My husband found this cabin while looking online just to see what accommodations were available. In the past we have stayed at Blue Belle in Custer State Park. Custer has been a family tradition for the last 19+ years and this cabin has got to be our favorite place to stay. We have a very energetic 3 year old and the fact that there was NO traffic for us to worry about was awesome. He could run, play and just have a great time. As far as the cabin, they have done a great job in making it comfortable and enjoyable. They really thought of everything (even items you wouldn’t think you would need). I love how close it is to town and other attractions. We are already talking about next year’s vacation and this cabin is at the top of the list for places to stay.

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were on our first visit to South Dakota. Our Hidden Valley Cabin was close to major points of interest and made sightseeing very easy. The cabin was neat, clean and in good repair. Connie was very helpful, when needed, but not intrusive. We enjoyed the wildlife that wandered into the yard, the peace and quiet and the night sky. The secluded, yet close to town location made everything very convenient.

Wonderful Cabin in a beautiful Setting

  • 5 of 5

Each year me and my buddies search for a strategic location to enjoy hiking and kayaking. Custer/Bad Lands/Black Hills were on our bucket list for several years. We wanted something rustic but not too primitive so we can spend time enjoying the Parks and nature. We were very lucky to come across Connie's cabin in Custer where we had ALL the benefits of home in a very private environment and only a few miles away from the convenient stores and Parks. The stars at night were magnificent while sitting around the campfire and we were greeted each morning by deer. This trip will be one of our best memories. Thanks Connie for your hospitality !

Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is perfectly situated to enjoy Custer State Park. Everything is within a very short driving distance. After 40 years of tenting it in various parts of the country, I may never sleep on the ground again. A well equipped kitchen with plenty of dining space, awesome fire pit (wood stacked and ready to go!), gas and charcoal grills, plenty of hot water, deer wandering about, this place was just fantastic. Connie took great care of us making sure we had everything we needed. Thanks Connie!

Great Vacation, lovely cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 just came back from our vacation to the Black Hills. We stayed at this wonderful cabin just outside of Custer. What a great location! So peaceful being surrounded by the Black Hills National forest. We loved our stay at this cabin. Connie has thought about everything as it is fully furnished with all kitchen utensils, Tupperware, some seasonings in the kitchen, a gas grill outside, all bedding and towels provided as well. The beds were comfortable and there is a nice large table in the kitchen to sit and eat at and share stories from your travels that day. We also loved the large fire pit area across from the cabin. Really beautiful area. We are very happy we chose this place to stay, great location to get to the places we wanted to see. Connie and her family are very nice and easy to communicate with, thanks again for a wonderful stay!!

Great Escape; Great Location

  • 5 of 5

My family of 6 stayed at the cabin in late July. It was a fantastic experience. The cabin is very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need. Even with 6 people in the cabin, we all had comfortable places to sleep. The kitchen is very well stocked and the table is large. The fire pit area across the way is big and they had firewood ready for us. What fun!

The location of the cabin can't be beat. It is minutes to either Custer or Custer State Park. The land is surrounded by National Forest land, which we went hiking on. It is tucked away so you feel like you are away, but it is not so remote that it becomes difficult to get places. There is an old school house just 2 miles or so from the cabin that our kids loved playing in.

We have no hesitation recommending this place, and we hope to come back on our next Black Hills adventure.
