About Amy Rex

Randy Loff was born and raised in Hungry Horse. A sportsman all his life, he knows the best places to fish and hunt in the Flathead Valley. The owner of a sporting goods store, he will set you up with fishing gear, and offer his advice on catching any fish species that thrive in the rivers and lakes of this area. Randy also recommends float trips, as rafting is excellent on the Flathead River. You can launch your raft only a few feet from the front door of your walk-out lower level apartment. In addition to hunting, fishing and rafting, Randy is your information source for hiking trails, fine restaurants, and area events.

A Real Gem!

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable, clean and spacious enough for 4 adults. Property was nice, neighborhood seemed safe and quiet. We enjoyed the outdoor patio and beautiful river view. Very convenient to Glacier National Park. Jill was welcoming and kindly recommended nearby restaurants and shopping, and the manager was always prompt in returning phone calls. Would definitely recommend this place and stay here again if we're ever in the area again.

Comfy, cozy and clean. Beautiful view, right on the river.

We enjoyed our stay, and loved waking up to the river in front of the property. Everything was very clean and all essentials were well stocked. Furnishings are not ultra-modern, but the place had a very home-like feel and we had LOTS of room to relax and enjoy our evenings. It was nice to know the owners were upstairs if we needed them, but we did not feel obligated to knock on their door or visit. The home is a short 7 minute drive from the west entrance to Glacier National Park, and there are several small gift shops and a grocery store nearby, as well as a few local eateries. Thanks again for a great place to relax! (We did have a floor lamp shade that fell off the lamp when I touched it---I actually had forgotten about that until just now as I was typing this review.) Everything else was in excellent working order...oh, and the bed was SUPER comfy! :)

River side oasis

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at the Flathead River Retreat! We stayed here for 4 nights, and loved every minute of it. Jill was so helpful! She told us all about her favorite trails at Glacier National Park, which we sought out and ended up hiking the best trail of our lives (so far) at Many Glacier. She was even so nice to come knock on our door after our first day to make sure we enjoyed our hikes and what we all saw. Very thoughtful.

The view from this apartment is tremendous. Every day I loved being at the park, but knew what a wonderful time we were going to have sitting and looking over the river and the surrounding mountains. A perfect end to each day, and a wonderful peaceful morning to wake up to. Speaking of peace; we were so pleased to be away from the hustle and bustle of touristy areas and be in a quieter, residential area that was a quick drive from West Glacier. Would highly suggested this rental to anyone. I was extremely sad to leave!

Excellent Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this wonderful basement apartment for two evenings (early June) and just loved it. This well equipped apartment sits on the Flathead River and you can't find a more relaxing place after a long day of hiking and touring. Amy was just great as she answered all our questions prior to our stay and provided us with an overview of the area. We also met Jill, the owner, and she was extremely friendly and hospitable. I would strongly recommend this retreat.

Lovely setting

  • 4 of 5

Lovely setting, cabin is nicer than photo but there were shortcomings concerning property equipment. On arrival had to request coathangers which were then provided. No hairdryer, when asked owner she said she never used one but thought it would be an idea to supply one.Had to go and purchase one ourselves. No iron or board, no dvd's for dvd player. Nowhere in Hungry Horse was open for breakfast before 9am. American diner opens at 10.30. Very nice and friendly people at Huckleberry cafe. Stunning views at East Glacier

Not bad, we stayed here in April 2012

  • 4 of 5

Stayed here in 2012 did some hikes in Glacier and to Bowman lake. Owners were helpful and left us to ourselves, we went to Randy's store on our way out of town and got a set of deer antlers and a double bit axe that I still use today. Not bad at all. Try the huckleberry pie in town and don't forget to check out Hungry Horse dam.
