Our cozy 600 sq. ft. cabin sits in the middle of 6 private wooded acres. It has three porches, so your living space extends to the great outdoors. This is the perfect place to get away from it all while still being close to the many area attractions. Guests enjoy hanging out in the two giant hammocks hung under the trees, practicing their ping pong & badminton swings or just kicking back in a rocker and watching the birds. Features include: an outdoor gas grill and fully equipped kitchen so you can prepare your own meals, an outdoor dining area and a picnic table and a fire bowl with adirondack chairs. Great place for stargazing, sunsets, walks in the woods, and bird watching.
We live and work in Austin, Texas. We are both graduates of the University of Texas who stayed and made this city our home. We are raising two amazing kids and two big dogs, and we all love to explore the outdoors.
Robert Bednar purchased this cabin in 2009
We bought this little cabin as a place to escape the noise of the city without having to travel far. Over the past few years, the cabin has become a second home to our family and we have put a lot of love and care into the place. We have traveled all over the country and various parts of the world but always find our hearts pulled back to the simplicity and peace of a quiet spot in the woods. We welcome you to share our place and hope you will enjoy it, too.
We knew this was the place for us as we pulled into the driveway and saw the towering pines and oaks that enveloped us and transported us to another place. Fortunately, the fires of 2012 missed our property and we only lost a few of our grand old pines in that summer's drought. Those losses, and the losses at nearby Bastrop State Park, inspired us to renew our little piece of the forest by planting and nurturing hundreds of baby pines and oaks. Come visit the trees and stay for a while.
This property is very secluded yet full of entertainment. The owners thought to include everything you can think of to have available for all to use. Nice bed, sheets, and towels... Such a plus! They have defiantly gone the extra mile. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
We were in town for a bike race and this cabin was perfect for the weekend! We loved the eclectic feel of the cabin and enjoyed the grounds - especially the frog pond and fire pit. We sat our there for the longest time with our dog and enjoyed nature. And the twinkle lights were a nice touch on the courtyard when the sun set. The bed was very comfortable and we had everything we needed - storage on the screened in patio, fridge, coffee pot, microwave. The only tricky part were some of the light switches but the property's binder had all the necessary info. Robert was very helpful in accommodating some of our requests and went above and beyond when we accidentally left behind some items. We hope to be back next year and will gladly stay here again! Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise!
This place was really all it says to be. You have some room to yourselves and everything is just lovely. The pond, all the cute seating areas, the hammocks- it was all beautiful. We had anything we needed inside the cabin, including a much needed charger we found in drawer. We truly enjoyed our stay and are discussing coming back every year.
The only disturbance we had was the neighbors who set off fireworks for a couple of hours Friday night. They ended around 11pm. Our dogs were not happy, but calmed down after awhile. It ended up just fine, but be aware that there are neighbors you can hear, just not see. :)
Gorgeous setting, fabulous cottage for 2 of us and 2 dogs! Perfectly appointed kitchen. Tons of fun games, puzzles, books, DVDs. Best stargazing in years. Incredibly comfortable bed and linens. Peaceful walks down dirt and gravel roads lined with spring blooms.
We cannot wait to make it back to the cabin. Thank you so much for an absolutely ideal spot for a few days of country quiet!
We came back for our second visit in winter (mild winter) and it was just as perfect as the first time. We explored bastrop state park, played many games of darts, scrabble, and bird watching, but our favorite part was just talking by the fire. Everything you could ever need is provided (besides food). We always leave feeling refreshed and never run out of things to do. If you need a place to unwind and just enjoy the company of your family and/or significant other, I can not recommend a better place than the Little Yellow Cabin. We look forward to our next stay.
This cabin is perfect for our family of four. We love all of the outdoor seating areas and activities, and appreciate the large selection of games and puzzles for rainy days. The bed is comfortable, and the futon is surprisingly comfy as well. The kitchen is well stocked and clean, and we love the rustic/eccentric vibe. We have stayed here before, and I'm sure we will be back!
Swim, fish, picnic or go boating at the South Shore of nearby Lake Bastrop. You can rent a kayak or canoe at the park or bring your own and use their launch.
Take a hike in the lost pines at Buescher State Park or visit the reforestation project at Bastrop State Park.
Stroll or hunt for antiques in the vibrant historic downtown Bastrop -- be sure to visit the old time soda fountain for a root beer float or malt.
