We live in eastern PA and fell in love with Carolina Beach the first time we visited in 2003. We returned every summer and then in 2010 purchased out lovely Pleasure Island home.
Alison & Mike purchased this house in 2010
We had 16 people in our group with a mix of ages. We had plenty of space for everyone. The house was clean and comfortable. The beautiful beach is just a 5 min walk. We spent a lot of time on the covered porch, playing cards and visiting. It was a favorite spot for morning coffee as well. The owners were very prompt and helpful with correcting a problem we had with the smoke detectors. I would highly recommend this property. We had fun, no one wanted to leave!!
The home was big enough our large family. The home was well maintained and clean. I would recommend this rental to my family and friends. The beach was within walking distance and there were many restaurants that deliver for those nights when you just don't feel like cooking.
We were very happy with our stay. We had a total of 16 people (8 adults and 8 children ) and it accommodated us well. We loved the deck with table and chairs and found ourselves out there most nights talking. We had an issue with the refrigerator having an error but owners were quick to get back with us and help us solve the issue. Neighborhood was quiet and the walk to beach with small children took maybe 5 mins. But you could always have some one drop kiddos off. Gorgeous week and we were happy to have a place to catch up with family. Michelangelo pizza was great and of course Britts donuts are a must!!!
We had a great week. We checked in on Thursday, along with many family members coming in from out of town. After our wedding rehearsal on Friday, we had more out-of-town guests come over for a light dinner. There was ample room for our 30+ guests to eat and socialize (it wasn't a sit down meal). Everyone who joined us at the house loved the accommodations. We got this house because it had an elevator for our niece, visiting from Arizona. The only way or stay could have been better is a "public" bathroom on the main level. Even a powder room on the main floor would have been perfect. And the only wheelchair accessible bathroom was on the third floor. Our niece stayed on the first floor, because she felt safer for egress purposes. If we stay here again, which I think we will, we will probably bring our own cookware. We had a very memory-packed weekend and we are very happy that we got the house and the accommodations we well beyond our expectations.
We stayed here with a big group of friends. The house is gorgeous, and much larger than the pictures make it look. All of the appliances and furniture are well kept. There's also surround sound all over the house, which was a great little luxury! The owners were super friendly and available if we had any questions. I will say that it is a shared unit (side by side duplex) which we didn't know going into it. Being a large group on vacation there was some worry that we would upset the neighbors with noise- but they were super nice and didn't complain at all.
There were some ants and cockraoches... but it's the beach, so what can you expect? There weren't THAT many, and only really in the kitchen if you left food out (ants). For the most part the roaches were outside on the deck (and again only a few at that). The house was very clean when we arrived, and I don't attribute the bugs to anything more than being in a house at the beach. The house is a few blocks back from the beach, but the walk isn't bad at all (if you have alot someone can just use a car to haul everything to the beach then walk). It was a great time, and we would definitely stay here again! Carolina Beach is much quieter and less touristy than alot fo the NC/SC beaches. More of a local scene. Definitely reccommend!
We drove from Texas, Virginia, New York And Raleigh, we wanted to celebrate my Brother's life, in a place that he and all of us loved (the Beach). We looked at so many houses and tried to find just the perfect one. And we did !
as you drive out of the pines into this quaint beach town it is amazing. the home is a duplex but never really heard the people on other side. this house was amazing, enough space to spread, and enough space to congregate. The elevator was definitely a great addition to this four floor house. my parent's where in Master and truly if you needed extra space and had blow up mattresses the closet in this room would work lol.
The roof view is amazing , I can not say enough good things about this house.
The owners where also wonderful from the beginning to end, I had my deposit returned to me the day after I arrived home. when the elevator stopped working they had the repair man their in no time. I had a question about the outside shower and my email was returned. (the Outside shower is amazing (hot and cold water).
The beach is small width wise but wonderful. we came in just at the end of a small hurricane, the waves where rough but we enjoyed them an the seashells where awesome. everyone went out to eat at least once. the Lazy Pirate, good Irish food (GREAT PRICE)Hoplite pub and beer garden. we also did some great shopping for tee shirts at WIngs the prices are perfect, can bring everyone you know home a great prize for a great price.
We spent a evening at the boardwalk(not like others, no real boardwalk) the rides where like carnival rides, my thirteen year old nephews loved them, I would not go on any.
We also spent a raining day in nearby Wilmington(think we could have spent a few days there discovering all the history. Some went on the USS North Carolina, while others walked and enjoyed the wonderful ice cream down by the boat dock.
this is a wonderful vacation spot, the first time we had a reunion like this but I bet it wont be the last. And we all want to go back to this house!
Carolina Beach is located on Pleasure Island, just a short walk to a guarded beach, and no beach tags are required. Once at the beach you'll be tempted by the sight of the Tiki Bar, located on a pier to your left. There are many great restaurants, a park with a lake and paddleboats, a playground and a walking path. There is a boardwalk area with rides and games, and frequent community events. Kure Beach and Fort Fisher are on the southern end of the island. Fort Fisher is a beautful place to take a walk. They have a museum, and there is a Ferry to Southport.
