About the property

Welcome to our lake home. We love it and hope that you do too. It is large enough to accommodate up to 14 comfortably. Enjoy family or friend time with breathtaking views of Deviltrack Lake from many rooms, a cozy fire in the master suite or family room, or games on the lawn including playing bocce, badmitten or frisbee. There is also a fire pit by the lake for evening campfires and roasting marshmallows. Whether you have a large family or multiple families, this is the perfect oasis with many amenities.

Grand Marais is well known for its spectacular outdoor activities year round. Go hiking on the Superior trail, go mountain biking at Lutsen, go sea kayaking in Lake Superior, or just relax by the shore with your favorite friends and a cool refreshment. There is a 9 hole golf course just down the street, and a championship 27 hole course in Lutsen.

In wintertime enjoy downhill skiing at the Midwest's biggest and best ski area, Lutsen Mountain. The cross country skiing boasts some of the best conditions along with great views for all ability levels. Snowshoeing is also a great way to explore the forests! We also have the best snowmobile trails in northern Minnesota. There are local rental outfitters if you need.

For those who are looking to see the majestic moose, they are sometimes as close as our private road.

Grand Marais is widely known for its arts community. There are galleries, live theatre, dragon boat races, and much more. We have a plethora of outstanding restaurants, shops, and of course the North House Folk School.

Please enjoy also the use of the canoe and kayaks located near the shore. Please bring along proper life jackets.

About Brian Rambol

We are life long Minnesotans who live in the Minneapolis area and started exploring the Grand Marais area hiking and skiing many years ago.

Brian Rambol purchased this cabin in 1998

Why Brian Rambol chose Grand Marais

We found Grand Marias had the most to offer for our recreation needs. This is our second cabin on Deviltrack lake. We like the outdoor activities and also like the flexibility of being able to enjoy the lake not only by paddle but motorboat too.

What makes this cabin unique

We wanted to be able to share this wonderful place with others. With the size of this home it is very comfortable for 2 or even 3 families. It is the most convenient location to downtown Grand Marais from an inland lake and yet very quiet at the same time.

Nice location and setting. Close to town and Pin Cushion hiking trails/lookout peak.

This Home is laid out well with the newer addition containing a master king suite, and a bunk room and a full size bed room above it with a full bathroom. (We only used 5 of the six bedrooms for our family this weekend.)

Besides the new master, ALL other beds are full size.

Plenty of nice towels/blankets/ dishes and kitchen space to make large meals on the electric stove, with a long table where we could all eat together.

If you are thinking you will fish the lake, or from the dock, you may want to research the lake/area, and be sure to double- check with the owner to make sure the dock is actually out- with the kayaks and canoe as publicized.

On our arrival Sept. 29th, with a gorgeous weekend weather report, we arrived to the dock and all boats put away 'for the winter'.

The owner was quick to respond when we emailed him inquiring about it, and told us we could dig the boats out of the locked shed; which we did not do.

The shore line is very shallow and rocky so the attempts at shore fishing was only rewarded with snags and some interesting rocks that our grandsons loved.

My husband found that this lake has been open to netting by the native Americans so not sure what the actual fishing would be like. He suggests bringing a depth and fish locator and a motor as the depths of the lake vary up to 50', and the lake is 5 miles long. Very pretty lake!

There are Lots of ducks to feed and we enjoyed the serenity of this lake and had a small bonfire one night. Perfect weather!

The leaves were almost at peak this weekend and we had a blast at Lutsen on the alpine slide! Custard and pizza at Sydney's in Grand Marie is always a favorite, as well as the Whole Foods coop! We loved the two mile? Hiking trail in Pin Cushion State Park up to the Lookout. There is no better view and scenery on the north shore!

A great time of family togetherness enjoying the Creation, sunshine and fresh air!

Lovely home! Wonderful vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This home was an absolute treat for our extended family of 11 during our week-long stay. Six bedrooms and 4.5 baths accommodated everyone perfectly. Large kitchen and table made it easy to enjoy meals and games together. The Rambols provide everything you will need for a stress-free vacation. Lots of great spaces for relaxing inside and out. We made full use of the grill, fire pit (with wood provided), lawn furniture, dock, kayaks, canoes and life preservers - all provided and all in good condition. The lake is truly lovely! We didn't want to leave!

Awesome vacation home for families❤

  • 5 of 5

Perfect home for our family. Great fishing off the dock. Grandchildren enjoyed the canoes, kayaks, swimming, large backyard & campfires. The house is divided by french doors which works great because we have both early risers & night owls. The house is in the perfect location, secluded on a lake yet close to the beautiful town of Grand Marais. MN. Would highly recommend this wonderful home!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed this rental. We were well impressed with the home, which was clean and well maintained. Having access to the lake, canoes, row boat, etc. just added to our family reunion. Thank you Brian for the use of this beautiful property. We definitely recommend and will be back again!!
