We go to different cabins in the Blue Ridge area about 4 times a year and we'd stayed in both big and small cabins. This time is was just our family and wanted to have a smaller yet still comfortable cabin for the five of us. This cabin while looking unassuming was so perfect! Very well stocked, clean, comfortable, and well decorated. We absolutely loved our secluded balcony with an outside table, rocking chairs, and a hot tub. The house is toward the end of a dead end road so there is no traffic at all. Also there is a beautiful trail along side the creak within a walking distance. Blue Ridge is within a short drive. For those who have small cars we felt save climbing up the short gravel road leading toward the house. The owner was more than accommodating and provided plenty information to make our stay even more enjoyable.
Dirty bathroom dirty grout dirty mattress dirty Alvin and the picture of the grill that shown on hom
Home away and the owner is required to give you the destination address seven days before your scheduled trip to their location
When that didn’t happen we start emailing the owner asking why we have not received the information she finally gave it to us three days before we left I had no idea how far up the Mountain her house was located
Kim- the owner is not required but she did tell us she would help if we had trouble finding the cabin we were coming from Fort Myers Florida trip was must longer then anticipated when we finally arrived in Georgia We cannot find the cabin we did try calling her many ,many times it was about 9:15 at night when she called us back she told us she could take us back down the mountain we were petrified to go any further it was Pitch Black dark and the road on cherry log Very narrow loose gravel roads and you could easily fall off the cliff so we spent the night in our vehicle and the next morning when it day light we could try to find the cabin
When we hear from Hyatt DD we had problems opening the door the door was sticking and from there we just continue to escalate filthy dirty mattresses mildew all over the shower dirty oven and the picture that they show for the grill is not what they have it’s an old dirty grill outside the one they show you one home away is a Weber grill
We decided to try to make lemonade out of lemons even though we were already started on the wrong foot but we were going to make the best of it we knew Kim was not gonna give us back our refund we went hiking there is no place really to walk your dogs this is all clear so please be aware of that Kim it’s up to us that there was a string to go fishing that was way down the mountain not as she states so close by anyway when we brought the attention to Kim- of our unhappiness she was pretty angry with us and told us that we could leave and that there was nothing wrong with the front door and we were making it up I did video tape of us trying to open the door from the inside and the out and the pictures of her dirty cabin we were able to find a commercial truck who is in the area that take care other rental properties and he helped us to get in the house what a mess Thank God for these young men we did give them some money for helping us get the door open it was pouring raining and I thought to myself I am going to spend another night out side I have Video of us trying to get the door open my devices please find another home for rent
Please let me start by saying I have NEVER had a guest make me cry before, these two did. They cursed at me, called me unbelievable names and verbally harassed me for three days until I finally asked them to leave - refunding them their unused days. Their poorly planned trip was clear from the outset when they called me very upset and frustrated that it was taking them so long to get here from Fort Myers, Florida. I tried to help them and when I gave them directions, they refused to follow them. After they locked themselves out of the cabin for a SECOND time in one day, they solicited a stranger to break into our home and then complained that our lock was defective. All of their communications were angry and abusive from the very outset, laden with profanity and personal insults. They cursed at me, called me names, hung up on me. After three days of verbal abuse, I asked them to leave. As you will see from our 93 other reviews (4 & 5 stars) we have a very clean, well-furnished cabin, and our guests note that I am very helpful and responsive. I sincerely hope that future guests reading this review will take it into consideration against the rest of our reviews and realize that this is not a true reflection of our clean, comfortable, relaxing home away from home.
Quiet secluded cabin
The cabin is wonderful and Kim was absolutely great and responsive. Cabin was extremely clean and well equipped. Great starting point for day outings to Blue Ridge and several state parks. One thing to consider when you have dogs, there is not much area to let them run, but our three adjusted just fine. Loved out stay there!
Perfect little cabin!
Cabin was well stocked and very clean! Enjoyed our little getaway for our anniversary!
very nice cabin and beautiful surroundings, also very relaxing and would come back again someday.
My kids loved the hot tub!
A great little cabin with good proximity to lots of waterfalls and hiking. Coffee on the back porch while deer-watching was a great start to every day, and the hot tub was a great cap to every day. Decent WiFi signal for being in the mountains and having cable was great as well since the basketball tournament was going on! We didn’t bring our dog this time because of some of our planned activities, but next time we probably will. Many thanks - I hope we can come back some other time!
For the family: Swan Drive-in movie theater, Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, zip lining, Southern Tree Plantation, seasonal farm-fresh fruit picking at one of the many area orchards (strawberries, cherries, blueberries and apples), childrens' theater productions at Blue Ridge Theater, Lake Blue Ridge (swim, boat & jet ski rentals), hiking nearby trails, fishing in one of the nine stocked lakes on the mountain, and so much more!
For the ladies, if you want to get out and explore, you can find retail therapy in the shops of Ellijay, Blue Ridge and McCaysville, as well as the flea market in Murphy, NC (about 35 minutes north) on the weekends. There are spas and salons in the area that will cater to you in their establishment, or even come to you in the cabin!! Visit one of the local wineries for a tasting and pick up a bottle or two for a relaxing evening on the hot tub.
For the guys, fishing, golfing and adventure abound. Round up your friends and head over to enjoy a weekend of manly fun! Stocked ponds and hiking trails are located on the mountain, so no need to venture out unless you are off to play a round of golf or have a delicious dinner at one of the many restaurants in town (try the Pink Pig right near the entrance to Cherry Log Mountain on 515 for great BBQ!).
For romance, try the Blue Ridge Community Theater, a couple's massage at one of the many spas (or even in the cabin!), a romantic dinner out (or in!), horseback riding or just cuddle up in the cabin for a weekend of wonderful reconnection.
