My Little Blue House is a joy - nestled in the woods. A pair of Phoebes had built a nest on the porch and we watched them feed their babies, heard pileated woodpeckers and cicadas in the distance, and were delighted by the sound of the small stream running through the property. The kitchen is well-appointed, and the entire house is perfect for a wonderful rest.
This is a great property, fantastic owner and a very nice secluded location. Could not have found a better place for the rate charged!
We had a wonderful stay, and are so thankful for owners that allow us to bring our pups! The little blue cabin sits at the intersection of two small creeks and features a wonderful porch to enjoy the sights of the woods and the sounds the creeks and nature. One thing to be aware of is the short walk across a bridge and up a few steep stairs to get to the cottage (don't over-pack those suitcases!). The bedrooms were charming, and the open living room and kitchen were great!
We could not have asked for a better destination for our vacation. The setting is beautiful, the house is perfectly charming and has everything we needed or wanted to make our stay comfortable. We will definitely be back.
We enjoyed 3 nights at the little blue house and everyone wished we Had at least one more. It is a wonderful cabin with 2 bedrooms and a loft with 3 twins. The kids (13 & 11) absolutely loved the loft and immediately set up all their stuff and moved in. This was a perfect getaway for all of us. The kids and dog played in the creek, we enjoyed the fire pit every night. Everyone took turns relaxing in the hammock. We really liked how you could go hiking right out the front door on an old logging road but could also drive a very short distance to other hiking trails and waterfalls. There was a lot to explore right there but yet we never saw another person. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook every night and we were so pleased to find a new grill!! We have rented cabins in the past where we felt it necessary to put foil down to cook our food but this grill was shiny and new. The family room was comfortable and we played the board games every night. My personal favorite part was the day bed on the porch. It was so amazing drinking my coffee in the morning watching the birds, listening to the wind chimes. Such a fantastic family vacation and the cabin was wonderful. Thank you so much, Karin!!
Loved the setting and decor of mountain home
Enjoyed the large porch listening to birds and babbling brook
Great for two dogs as so private didn't have to worry about traffic or neighbors
Will visit again!
The property that Karin's Little Blue House is on is spectacular - it is surrounded by woods and mountains and it is so peaceful. It rained every day the week that we were there but we still enjoyed the property. We hiked around in between the storms - our dogs absolutely loved it. The sound of the creek is so peaceful and even the rain on the metal roof was nice. The real wood walls + ceilings and oak wood floors are true to the cabin in the woods experience! The bathroom has a great little wall heater to warm the room while in the bathtub - with strong water pressure +plenty of hot water. The bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable. We climbed the ladder to the loft just to peek - it is an almost vertical ladder - adventurous kids (maybe 7+ yrs old) would love it. We passed the road to the house at first - it would be helpful to include "turn at the Amana air conditioning sign" in the driving instructions. The road does not have a street sign and angles down and to the right so much that it doesn't look like a road - but then it opens up and it is such a nice drive away from civilization and up into the mountain. We were glad to have a truck with us - the hard rains moved the gravel on the driveway a bit - but we were there during a rare week-long rain storm - at other times it is probably not too bad. We met Karin the 2nd day - her house is further up on the mountain - she is very nice and checked on us due to the storms. The Hiawassee, Young Harris, Blairsville area has a lot to offer - on the one day the rain let up a bit we drove to Brasstown Bald and hiked to the top and then went about halfway on the Jack's Knob trail. Both trails were a bit steep (especially coming back on Jack's Knob) - but the views are really great. We enjoyed lunch in Blairsville at Michaelee's Italian Life Cafe - it is on the Town Square and they have a patio behind the restaurant with heaters and were very welcoming to our two pups (try the yummy desserts in their coffee shop). We noticed Cabin Coffee on the square had outdoor seating too. Rib Country in Hiawassee has covered picnic tables and friendly staff + yummy BBQ. Due to the rain we ate most of our meals at the cabin and found the kitchen easy to use - plenty of counter space. It was unseasonably warm (60's & 70's!) so we did not get to try out the fireplace. The Ingles grocery store in Hiawassee had every thing we needed - and even has a little Starbucks counter in it. We will be back!
