Havelock House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 7-9)

The River House is a private home that stands on three and one half acres of peaceful, wooded privacy on the south shore of the tidal Neuse River. Central heat and air and ceiling fans provide year round climate comfort. Its three upstairs bedrooms sleep nine and there is room so that two or three more small-fry could always find a place to sleep. The living room's large windows provide a panoramic view of the river, and its large sofa and four easy chairs provide plenty of seating room to enjoy the big TV or the wood burning fireplace. In the dining room, the large table can easily seat eight and the adjacent bar can handle two more for meals. The kitchen is furnished with all appliances, dishes and utensils a cook could need. In the popular game room you will find a full size pool table, a game table, a selection of board games, a dart board and a TV.

Outside in the peace and quiet, the large deck overlooks the river that is three miles wide and stretches out into the Pamlico Sound to the East as far as the eye can see. There you can relax in the hammock or sit in one of the big rocking chairs and watch the great blue herons and the stealthy ospreys work the river for tasty seafood morsels. The grounds offer sandy beaches and a grassy yard with plenty of space for all kinds of fun and games - horseshoes, badminton, croquet, volleyball, softball or football just to name a few. The waters of the Neuse here offer an abundance of blue crabs and fish of many varieties. All can be caught right out on the River House fishing dock. Flounder gigging is also an excellent after dark pastime here on summer nights.

Boating is wonderful in this area. The River House is diagonally across the river from Oriental, the sailing capital of North Carolina.

The River House has its own boat ramp where small boats and jet skis can be launched. There is a deep water marina 1/2 mile away.

For those who want some ocean time, Atlantic Beach is only forty minutes away. For those who want to do some special shopping or sight seeing, historic Beaufort, New Bern and Morehead City are all within thirty to forty minutes. Golfers will find the Carolina Pines golf course only thirty minutes away. You can find grocery stores, drug stores, restaurants, movie theater, etc. in Havelock which is twelve miles away.

The River House is truly a wonderful place for family fun, for friends to gather, for sportsmen to make a home base, or even for business groups to hold team building retreats.

Kitchen- electric range and oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee grinder, automatic coffee maker, dishes, silverware and full range of cooking utensils. Two grills outside, a charcoal Weber and a gas grill.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh A Home Away From Home

Linda W. Hebron, CT

Review Submitted February 6, 2010 Date of Stay June 27, 2009

The tranquil morning coffee while rocking on the deck, overlooking the Neuse River, can quiet even the hardiest vacation critics. The sound of the moving water, complimenting the wildlife that visits every morning is spectacular. The listing was as it said, away from it all, with all the amenities that a guest would require. With our two families, space was not even a factor. The recreation available was more then sufficient. Fishing was at its best, even when the dolphins chased the fish away. We held our annual outdoor family reunion on the property. Jerry was right there manicuring the lawn the day before even though it was not needed. His hospitality was beyond that of a southern gentleman. The guests loved the house, its relaxing atmosphere, and yes the fishing. The not so youngens loved the constant breeze from the river. Living in a city with ten million people surrounding us, the culture shock vacationing in a tranquil, quiet, environment was non existent. The only bad thing was having to leave the River House. We would recommend vacationing at the River Front home to everyone. We will surely return, and enjoy the soul refreshing vacation on the banks of the Neuse River. Note: Linda and family returned for another two weeks in July 2011.

A memorable week celebrating with family

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I got married at the wedding venue near the River House over Labor Day weekend, and spent the following week celebrating with family. The location worked out perfectly for us! We had relatives come in from Germany and they fell in love with the area and Jerry’s property, and can’t wait to come back.

A wonderful week

  • 5 of 5

Our family had the pleasure of staying for a week at the River House. It was a very relaxing week of fishing off the dock and making day trips every day. There is so much to see and do around Havelock. We went to the Aquarium, rode the Ferry to Oriental, visited downtown New Bern , Beaufort, Moorehead City and Harkers Island. There just wasn't enough time to cover all we wanted to do.Next time we will take time to check out Tryon Palace. So sad we didn't get a chance to do the tour. The house had all the ammenities and we enjoyed the pool table and deck.Thank you for a wonderful week at The River House! Mr. Jerry couldn't have been nicer!

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have now stayed at The River House for the past two years and now consider it our home away from home. The house is very comfortable and has pretty much everything that you could need. We most enjoy the yard and the pier. Such a beautiful view and we love fishing and crabby off the pier even if the fish aren't biting.

In early morning and late evening we enjoy watching the dolphins swim by and entertain us as they play with each other. I would highly recommend a stay at The River House for a nice and relaxing retreat.

Jerry has continued to be a joy to deal with and has made sure that we had everything that we needed.

Jerry, once again thank you from all of us, including our babies Benz and Gizzy for another wonderful trip and we look forward to returning soon.

Carrie

Beautiful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We had never been to NC for vacation and decided to do something different this year, it was wonderful. We had two adults, four children ages 9, 11, 12, 12, and our two dogs. The kids loved playing in the river. The water temperature of the river surprised us, it was so warm. The dogs loved the yard and swimming in the river, though it is salt water so they couldn't swim too long because they kept drinking the water. The fishing from the dock was wonderful. There was more than enough activities at the house for the kids to enjoy. The beach wasn't that far of a drive to go to either and was so beautiful. I have to say Atlantic Beach was one of the best beaches I've ever been to. The house was really wonderfully equipped and very spacious. We had a great time. Thank you so much. I talked so highly about it that a co-worker is already interested in booking a week next year. I shared pictures and they just adore it as well. I can't speak highly enough about it.

great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

This house is beautiful. It is stocked with games, dishes, towels, bedding. The only thing you need to bring is food and fishing poles. There is an awesome view and so much room. We had a large family gathering with plenty of activities. The pool table was a hit along with multiple games of volleyball. Everyone had a great time. We loved it! ***look in the closets, we didn't find the hammock until the day before we left.
