NEW for 2017: Home security system.
***UPDATE Jan. 2017. Please note: We have had two recent guests in January that did not treat our home as we would treat their home if we were their guests. They broke things, damaged oven, markers on quilts; then denied the damages to the insurance so we are unable to recover damages. We will need to evaluate guests to ensure they are respectful of our home. We hope you understand. Thank you!***

Marilyn purchased this house in 2011
I fell in LOVE with this home (after visiting dozens of properties in the area, including Sonora, Twain Harte and Pinecrest) the moment I walked in and saw the beautiful picture window in the living room and all the amazing, authentic woodwork throughout the home I knew I just had to purchase it. I never even opened the kitchen cabinets! Trust me, I'm very picky and you've never quite seen a home/cabin like this -- if you have, let me know, I want to rent it, too. (smile)
EXCLUSIVE: First and only hot tub in the area! Amazing views of the lush redwood, cedar and pine trees from every-single-room. This home is very private in an abundant natural setting.

Our stay here was perfect in every way. The house is both cozy and spacious, and there is plenty of everything you might need. The hot tub is great--it actually get hot, unlike many I've sat in that are limited to 104°F.
No complaints at all--and I'm the nit-picky type, so you can take that to the bank!
We really loved this cabin, it had everything you could wish for, the rooms were nice and comfortable. I loved the bathroom with the window looking out to nature. I liked the trader's Joe products, a nice touch. The house was clean and had a really good vibe to it.
I recommend it highly.
Enjoy your next trip at a hope away from home.
Comfortable, quiet. Found everything we needed in the kitchen for cooking meals. A nice amount of space for a big family or multiple families. We enjoyed using the hot tub. The owners are very responsive. We visited Big Trees Park one day and Pinecrest Lake another day. Great spot. We would definitely return.
The house was a bit challenging to find in the dark and with snow/ice on the ground we had to put on chains just to get into the lower driveway. If at all possible arrive in the day light. The house was well stocked, warm and comfortable for a couple of families to share. We appreciated being able to bring our dog along. What seemed like a wonderful weekend ended after we got back home when the homeowner sent a message that the house cleaners reported extensive damage and that she would send photos later. The photos never came just a notice from the insurance company that a claim was filed for a broken oven, a damaged quilt and a stove knob that needed replacement. What? We left the house is the same state we found it, following all the instructions that the homeowner left. Being a home owner myself, I respect other peoples homes and had there been any accidental damage, I would have owned up to it. The homeowner made it very clear that everything was photographed in the home because of past renters taking things. If I had known then what I know now, I would have photographed everything upon arrival to protect myself. It is such a shame, we were looking forward to making this an annual trip. If you go, please make sure to document everything upon arrival to avoid dishonest repercussion.
Overall great stay and easy location to find. The driveway is a little steep and daunting, especially when it's snowing. Furnishings are a little worn, carpeting downstairs needs replacing. Bedrooms and baths are updated and very comfortable welcoming, with great care given to your comforts. A few more linens/bedding/blankets should be supplied, but overall well worth the stay. Comfortable and relaxing.
Eric and Marilyn's home in Mi-Wuk Village was delightful. It's a perfect getaway spot for a family vacation. The house is very clean, nicely decorated and fully stocked. Marilyn responded promptly to our questions. The location is convenient to the gold country and Pinecrest Lake and is in a very peaceful setting. Both the Twain Harte Market and the Saturday Sonora Farmers' Market are excellent. Highly recommended!

'Our stay at The Sierra Mountain House Getaway was fantastic! The spacious cabin easily accommodated 6 adults and 2 children. Every room of the house was beautifully decorated and well stocked with everything we needed. The cabin owner was very attentive, answered all of my emails in a very timely manner, and made sure everything at the cabin was to our liking. I can't wait to go back in the summer!!!' Lu, January 2013
'WOW! What an amazing vacation. It was a dream winter getaway and the owner was incredible! We would definitely go again! Marilyn went above and beyond the call of duty and did so many little things to make us feel welcome and special. She was always available to answer questions and give guidance. We could not have asked for more!' Chris, Christmas week 2012
'My wife and I rented the house for the Thanksgiving along with 2 other couples. The place is absolutely perfect to rest and spend some relaxing time. The place was really comfortable for everyone of us and the way the house as build helps on interacting and spending all the time together. Cabin owner was amazing, she responded all the messages really quickly and even bought a roasting pan for us to cook the Turkey! Definitely recommend to book this house! One of my best experiences so far!' Victor, November 2012
'I came to stay at the Sierra Mountain Resort for my birthday. What an AMAZING place to stay. It's quiet, cozy, has everything you could want for a mountain get-away. The grill, sunken tubs, modern kitchen, and TONS of kitchen supplies made for a VERY comfortable living situation for those who don't want to 'rough it.' My friends and I drove to Travertine Hot Springs which was about 2 hours away (through the beautiful Sierra Mountains) which was SO FUN. It was lovely returning to the cabin after a long day and cozying up next to the wood-burning fireplace and relaxing. The host was a dream to work with, always responding when I needed something and making us feel like SHE was the lucky one having us stay. I would say WE were definitely the lucky ones. AH-MAZING place. Go. Go now! Why are you still reading this? GOOOOO!' Jessica, November 2012
