Whether vacationing with family and friends or getting away from it all, our Helendale Lake Retreat will be a special experience.
Driving around Helendale one day, my husband and I came upon this Spanish-style home with its lovely front and backyard.
Our cozy lake retreat has a lovely rose garden in the front and many trees, some with fruits to keep our guests cool in the summer.
It's a beautiful sight waking up on a spring morning seeing irisis blooming in our garden in the Springtime.
Cindy purchased this house in 2012
We chose this lovely home on the water because it reminded us of our travels to Santa Fe and Mexico.
We call it our lake house retreat because it feels relaxing and calm sitting on our lounge chairs in our backyard looking out on the lake.
A surprise to many of our guests is that our home also has a backyard with trees and flowers.
Many of our guests have tasted the delicious fruits from our pear, peach and apple trees.
We were here to the 21st, then again from July 10-August 4th. I can say during our stay we enjoyed the home. We had a problem with the boat/golf cart in the beginning , some our fault, and Cindy and her husband came and resolved the issues quickly. The contract and financial payments and deposits were handled fairly. Cindy is a pleasure to deal with, and they offer a nice welcome gift of a bottle of wine, crackers, and card. There are 2 nice, large LCD TV's, DVD player, Wi-Fi and Satellite TV and very good air conditioning ! Also a swamp cooler. The house is well stocked for your needs, from bathroom, to bedroom to kitchen, and organized. Also a small wine bar. We enjoyed the golf car and boat, tennis racquets, fishing poles. There are also 2 bicycles. Nice washer and dryer. We caught some fish and the lake is pleasant; neighbors quiet. Nice local grocery store and some restaurants, golf, tennis, gym, public pool and beaches and parks, including a dog park, RV hook- up area. Loved the fresh peaches off the tree and sitting on the back porch, grilling, and gazing at stars at night. Only issues is the garage is a bit cramped but did fit our large SUV in there, and the outside of the house could be spruced up a bit .0, as cobwebs. We hand watered the grass in the backyard. As it was dry. But overall, nice home. Loved the lake!
We have stayed at many vacation properties in the past 15 years. This is by far the best value - especially if you play golf (even better if 2 people play). The golf is FREE and tee-times are plentiful on a 27-hole private championship course. A power golf cart is provided FREE & the home is fairly handy to the pro shop (about a 5min drive by power cart). The power boat provided is wonderful. Starts first time & is great for fishing on a reasonable sized lake (about a mile long). The lake is stocked twice each year with about 3,000lbs of trout. There are also monster bass (record is over 19lbs) & large catfish.
The house is very comfortable & clean & plenty of room for occasional guests to visit.
TV's in Living room & master provide good HD reception via satellite & there are plenty of channels to choose from.
BBQ is large. Once I got used to it, the steaks turned out just fine!
Finally, Cindy & Hank are wonderful hosts & if the Ketch Lane property is already rented, try the Galleon Lane property less than a mile away. We checked it out & it has all the same facilities.
We were so impressed with Helendale that we bought a home there - the only regret being that we won't be able to make use of either of Hank & Cindy's places in the future.
If you are lucky enough to be able to rent one of their places, trust me, you won't regret it!!
Ed & Menna Green.
About two hours drive to Disneyland, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
