Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for having your cabin available to rent! It is absolutely beautiful and is just what we were looking for. A group of us came up to ski and it was so nice to come back to a "home" rather than a hotel. Every detail has been thought through, making it so easy for us to get comfortable and settled in. The hot tub was key! We will definitely be marking this place down to stay at again in the future. Thanks again!

Cozy Zig Zag Cabin

  • 4 of 5

We loved the cozy cabin, hot tub, and location in the woods. Most comfortable VRBO bed we've ever slept in (the king). Nice place!

Great area & cabin

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. The cabin is quite comfortable and well appointed; nothing we wanted was missing, and it is quite quiet. Great location.

As mentioned in a different posting, it is a bit dark during the day, but that's because it's nestled among tall trees. We'd definitely go back. There are two decks (front and back) and it would have been nice if they'd done more with them, but that was a minor drawback.

Cute and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

We loved the outdoorsy decor at this luxury cabin! It was too cute. Updated appliances and very comfy beds. Even the kids said the bunkbeds were more comfortable than their beds at home. The king bed was pure luxury!!! Most comfortable bed I have ever slept on.

When we arrived the cabin had not been cleaned, however, we called the numbers provided and the owners were VERY responsive and took care to see that a cleaning crew got there ASAP.

Our group included two grandmas and 6 grandkids. The cabin was the perfect size for us, but I wouldn't recommend any more than this. All the 6 kids could get in the hot tub at the same time and really enjoyed it. The fire ring area was very small and didn't work too well for roasting marshmellows with this size group.

The kids all loved the trails and finding the Sandy River where they found a nice sandy beach area to play. However, the river was too far away for us to keep an eye on them from the cabin. I think their favorite part was the day we went to the lovely community pool. It isn't far away however, it is rather challenging to find as the trail to it is unmarked and it is in the middle of the woods - how cool is that!!! I wish there would have been parking close to the pool because one of the grandmas was recovering from foot surgery and had to walk with crutches and a boot.

During the day we went white water rafting in Maupin at High Desert River Outfitters (highly recommend - check for Groupons and Get My Perks for discounts). Another day we went to Ski Bowl and did the Alpine slides and other activities. The last day we went on one of the less challenging hikes in the helpful informational book that was at the cabin.

Also, I would suggest bringing refillable water bottles for your outdoor activities rather than buying bottled water because the water from the kitchen sink is super cold and tastes AMAZING!!!

In the evenings we enjoyed playing some of the board games at the cabin and watching movies. There are flat screen TV's in the living room and two of the bedrooms.

With this size of a group we would have enjoyed being able to eat and sit outside on the back deck, however, there were only two chairs. It would have been nice if there was a picnic table so we could eat outside and not come in wet from the hot tub. We loved all the forest around this cabin and it calls your name to be outside enjoying it. Thank you for a lovely vacation!!!

Your Own Private Paradise

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is in a development next to a river where there are hardly anyone around. We had two full days where we just walked to the river from the cabin and didn't say any people on the land, only on the road near the property. The trees and flowers were bountiful, the fallen trees across the land added drama and the expansive views of the mountains were there for the taking. It was our own private paradise. Plus, there was a hot tub, which we enjoyed nightly, and a small swimming pool in the trees, which we passed on. The cabin had most everything that you might need, with a fully equipped kitchen. The only problem I had with the cabin is, is that it was dark. If they could somehow put brighter lights in the dining room, it would have been most appreciated. I would definitely recommend!

A nice cabin in a beautiful area.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed are stay at the Zig Zag Cabin. It is in a beautiful area. We enjoyed the cabin itself (although it seemed dark at times, even with the lights on). We enjoyed sitting outside in the trees (although we would love to have had more outdoor seating, and maybe even a table at which to eat dinner). We also enjoyed the pool (once we found it).

We did find the information listed on the VRBO page misleading in regards to Ramona falls. On the listing site it shows a picture of Ramona falls and states "Ramona Falls, a great hike up the road about a mile from the cabin." We found this to be very misleading. The turn off to Forest Road 1825 is a mile from the cabin. Once you turn off on Forest Road 1825 you still need to continue .6 miles and then turn right across a bridge then continue 1.7 miles to a road junction. At the junction you need to bear left onto Forest Road 1825-100 and drive .3 miles. Then take a left onto Forest Road 1825-024 to a large open parking lot .2 miles. This will take you to the Ramona Falls trail head. The actual hike to Ramona Falls, once you get started, is listed as 1.8 miles. That includes having to cross a portion of the river where a bridge was taken out by a flood. It was difficult to find a location to cross. In the end, though, seeing Ramona Falls was worth it!
