Fairgrounds House Rental Photos and Description

Studio, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Experience this charming vacation or business executive private studio apartment in our 1880's fully restored Victorian home. Our location for Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest is IDEAL - 5 minute walk to Jazz Fest at the Fair Grounds Race Track - most venues are within walking distance. Bicycling is the best way to travel long distances during Mardi Gras. Walk to grocery stores, restaurants, Bayou St. John & City Park. Relax and BBQ in the completely landscaped lush and tropical backyard. Plenty of street parking. All the comforts of home, just pack your bags and make your way over!

New Orleans has so much to offer! Start your day with Mimosa's, coffee, eggs benedict or beignets. Enjoy a leisurely walk in the Quarter or Garden District, a Steamboat Ride on the River, or cocktails on the balcony before dancing the night away on Bourbon Street. If Bourbon isn't your cup of tea, relax while listening to some of the country's best Jazz Musicians at clubs within blocks of the studio. The City is one of America's Jewels, don't blame us when you want to return to her again and again and again!

When it's time to take a break, this studio comes complete with a 42' flat-screen TV with full cable to keep you amused and informed during your stay, along with a full kitchen - gas range and oven, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster-oven provide all the basics for snacking or cooking a full meal. The king bed can convert into 2 twin beds along with a pull out twin-size couch for a third guest!

Come be a part of the party in New Orleans and 'Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler'!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Herb's Home was perfect for our NOLA vacation. The house is located in a picturesque New Orleans neighborhood walking distance to most places, including restaurants, grocery stores, coffee shops AND just a 5 min. walk to Jazz Fest which was amazing to be so close to all of the action. We took short taxi's rides to all of our favorite Music Halls, hung out in the back yard and really enjoyed the place!!! Getting to know Herb was awesome too, he knows everything about the city and it was really helpful to have some local advice.

Gracious host

  • 5 of 5

This home was beyond anything I thought it would be. It began with our pleasant host showing us the home and area. It was just my sister and I and we felt more than safe and at home. I ran every morning to city park (exactly 1 mile to doorstep to NOMA). I can't thank Herb enough for taking the time to show me our surroundings so we would feel part of the neighborhood. Herb gave us his contact info and made us feel comfortable to call him if we needed anything at all. Thankfully, we were more than equipped with anything we would need thanks to his thoughtful hosting. Beautiful home, beautiful neighborhood, and gracious host.

We had an amazing stay (6 days) at Herb's house and he made my wife and I feel right at home. Definitely recommend staying here!! His house was close walking distance to the city park for Voodoo Fest and a short ride from the French quarter and garden district. We are genuinely sad to have to leave. Thank you Herb!

From the moment we drove up we were enchanted by Herb's property nestled among beautiful landscaping

  • 5 of 5

After speaking to Herb over the phone, I knew this was going to be a great trip. Herb provided us with everything we could possibly need including helpful tips for getting around NOLA, places to eat, things to do, and history of his hometown. The property itself was quaint, well equipped, and comfortable. I loved making coffee in the morning and heading out to the covered outside area to read with a view of tropical greenery through double French doors. Later in the afternoon after running about town, time was enjoyed in his backyard garden under dappled sunlight. The location of this place was perfectly situated. We were within walking distance of coffee houses, cafes, restaurants, an approachable cemetery, and a lovely park and art museum. Cable cars that will take you into the heart of the action were also within walking distance. It was hard to zip up our bags to leave. Without a doubt we will be back to NOLA, and we will definitely check to see if Herb's property is available. Thank you for such a great first experience!

The property is beautiful- historical home in Mid-City. Very nicely decorated.

Herb was so helpful and generous- the home is lovely, easy to find via Maps, and very central to everything most want to do while staying in NOLA. Parking your car is easy and safe. And free! You are 5 blocks from grocery, coffee house and neighborhood restaurants. I would not recommend the Italian one, though. Pricy and food/service not quality. Easy access to bus lines and streetcar stop. Very easy and convenient to use Uber, which was new to us and suggested by Herb. He is very knowledgeable about his city and extremely generous and welcoming. Furnishings are gorgeous and everything you need for a quick weekend or weeks long stay. So much to do and enjoy in the city. Highly recommend Lagniappe and definitely want to plan another trip!

Amazing experience

  • 5 of 5

Herb's house was the perfect place to stay. Great location in a quiet neighborhood within close proximity to the French Quarter and other New Orleans attractions. Beautiful accommodations and a fabulous garden room and garden to enjoy. A quintessential New Orleans home: elegant and funky at the same time. I am a native New Orleanian and was home visiting, I could not have picked a more perfect place to stay or a more perfect host. Thanks Herb for sharing your paradise with me!

Best Location and Host ever!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were very pleased with our stay at Herb's studio apartment last week. The location was perfect with cafes and beautiful houses within walking distance. The kitchen and bathroom were fully stocked. Uber to the Quarter and Frenchmen Street were never over $10. I really loved the garden and even spent time taking pictures of Herb's beautiful flowers and landscaping. Herb was even kind enough to drive us to the Quarter and give us a quick tour. He's a native New Orleanian so he knows everything you need to know about NOLA. The apartment was just the perfect size for my husband and I. We plan on using Herb's apartment for any future stays in New Orleans. I highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for an affordable vacation. I am also a huge dog lover so the occasional visit from Louis dog were well received. I actually think he liked me a lot!!!
