BEAUTIFUL OLD SAN JUAN BAY VIEW 2nd Floor APART ON On EXCLUSIVE AND V SAFE RESIDENTIAL STREET

POWER TO THIS RESIDENCE WAS RESTORED ON OCTOBER 22ND ----

. This 2nd floor apartment comprising the entire 2nd floor of a Spanish Colonial townhouse is one of a small handful of Old San Juan short term rentals which are unique. .

1st: This 2nd floor apartment has a completely private entrance from the street.

2nd , Property enjoys a great water view - 3 street side balconies offer great views of San Juan Bay , passing cruise ships and pelicans. . The property enjoys a clear view of the bay and the mountains beyond..This is also a unique urban property with 3 large trees in a tiny park in front of the house which offers a peaceful and almost rural environment within the Old City with an exceptional view of SJ bay along with a small nonswimming beach below the Governor's mansion.

3rd: The property is located directly across the street from the Puerto Rico Governor's mansion called 'La Fortaleza' and the area enjoys unparalled security and police vigilance.

4th: . A Rural Ambience in an Urban Setting:

The special location on the west side of the Old City next to EL Morro National Park offers views of pelicans and tropical vegetation and trees with several palm trees and a large mahogany directly in front of the property. There is also a large mango tree which shades half of patio of this apartment.

Despite the unban location Puerto Rican tree frogs called 'coquis' along with the waves from the visible small bayside non swimming beach below the wall can be heard at night. The entrance to the "El Morro National Park" is about 60 yards further down the st.

'Caleta de las Monjas' is probably the safest and most secure street in Old San Juan .There is a small police barracks attached to Governor's mansion one block from property in addition to the Hotel' Convento's security and cameras just up the street. . Parking is available free on the streets of the Old City .There is a large outdoor lot about an 8 minute walk along the Bay from the property. The entrance to the National Park 'El Morro' is only steps away from the apartment.

The property is residential but is only 3 blocks from the main plaza of Old San Juan- 'Plaza de las Armas' with a trolley stop , Walgreens, a Supermarket, a Marshall's , Wendy's , a Pizzeria and both an outdoor and indoor coffee /internet cafe - Many other shops , restaurants and bars are within 3 to 5 blocks .

The ceilings in the apartment are 17 feet tall - bedrooms , living room ,dining room &there are ceiling fans in all rooms . The patio bedroom has an air conditioner . The living room has a futon and a sofa . An air mattress is also available.

There is a fully equipped kitchen with a washing machine. A clothes line is installed in patio. There is a dining room and the patio can also serve for outside dining. The apartment is about 1,500. sq ft. and can accommodate 6 persons or more if the air mattresses and/or futon are used. .

There is Direct TV and WIFI

There is a large bathroom with shower between the 2 bedrooms .In addition there is a much smaller bathroom/shower at the back of the residence. The patio is shaded by a large mango tree which produces mangoes 2x a year. Sun enters patio from mid am to early pm..

This base rental for this apartment is priced for a 1-2 guest occupancy with an extra guest charge of $20.00 per night for each guest after 2.

This apartment is a really good deal for a group or family since there is really a lot of space to accomodate a family. All the rooms are large and accomodating.

.

.Steps away from property is the beginning of Ël Morro Trail'- a harbor walkway maintained by the National Park Service which ends at the mouth of SJ harbor directly below the famous fort Ël Morro'.

The property is located on a privileged and very special street. called 'Caleta de las Monjas' -the Street of the Nuns. - also known as the street of the statues ' There is a famous large bronze statue in front of house called 'La Rogativa' ; there are 3 large statues at the beginning of the street in addition to the statues on the fascade of the Cathedral. The Caleta is one of the most painted streets of Old San Juan by artists.

The 'Caleta' is only about '200 yards in length. At the beginning of St is San Juan Cathedral and the 4 star Hotel ' El Convento '-. and the PR Childrens' Museum. At the end of st is the property ,the PRGovernor''s Mansion' and the back entrance to the National Park '' Ël 'Morro'' which is very popular for walking , and kite flying. The property is directly in front of the Governor's Mansion's gardens and back gate.

The house is only 6 houses down Hotel Convento which has a ' tapas' bar and a restaurant.Taxis are available there 24/7 . By car the property is about 15 traffic free minutes away from the airport and about 5 minutes to nearest blue flag beach called 'Ëscambron'' which is next to the Caribe Hilton .You can also access the beach via bus followed by a 4 minute walk. or via trolley&a 10minute walk. Bus station is about a 12min. walk from house

About Peter J. Satz

I am an attorney. My daughter and I live on premises.

Peter J. Satz purchased this villa in 2001

Why Peter J. Satz chose Viejo San Juan

I rented this property 20 yeas prior to purchasing it. It is the only house on the street which looks the same as it did 100 years ago .

What makes this villa unique

The house is located on a residential street with little traffic and no discos or bars.

The grounds of the Governor's Mansion are only about 40 yards across the small Plaza and there is a constant police presence . There is usually a Commonwealth policeman on duty in the area of the Plaza called 'La Rogativa'which is shown with the large statue in the photos.

The entrance to the National Park 'El Morro' is just further down the st at the very end about 70 yards from the property. This is an urban property in a close to rural setting

. Overall, the 'Caleta ' is just a very unique street with the San Juan Cathedral at its beginning bordered by the Hotel El Convento and the small plaza just in front of the Church and the Governor's mansion, the El Morro National Park and the grounds of 'La Casa Blanca' which was Ponce de Leon's residence at the very end .

If you enjoy walking you also have the 2 harbor walkways known as the El Morro Trail and the 'Paseo de la Princesa' only a block away with the Sheraton Hotel and Casino about a 15 minute walk either through the Old City or along the bay.

Beautiful view!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved our stay here! We have stayed in several different apartments in old San Juan and this was our favorite. The views were amazing and it was a great location. The bathroom was old but everything functioned fine. There is only one air conditioned bedroom but there was such a great breeze through the rest of the house it wasn't needed anywhere else. It looked just like it was pictured. We will stay there again!

Awesome host!

  • 5 of 5

Our group came in 2 days early for a cruise and stayed here. It was as expected. We wanted historic San Juan and we were not disappointed. We rented upstairs and downstairs apartments. Our host Peter let us have a late check out for boarding the ship for a late cruise departure. He was very accommodating. We will return to Old San Juan and rent here.

Great location, fun part of town, and nice size apt. Host was very accommodating!

  • 5 of 5

Apt is in a charming part of town. Beautiful window views of the water.

Apt is on the older side, a/c in only 1 bedroom, and shower is pretty old too. But overall a good experience as apt is charming and in a safe part of town close to nice restaurants and fun activities.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this apartment. It's every person's dream of the perfect Caribbean getaway. It's located in the oldest, historic building on the street. Viewing balconies, stretching across the front, overlook a small plaza bordered by the old massive city walls, and the sparkling sea beyond. A large secluded open air terrace lies off the kitchen: perfect for intimate breakfasts or candlelight dinners. The terrace is semi-surrounded by Jurassic-like roots and vines cascading from the old adobe and brick walls. Tiny tree frogs, nestled in the leaves, serenade you at night. During the day, small groups of tourists wander through your plaza gazing at a famous statue center stage - ships sail by. The biggest decision of the day was always whether to stroll through the shops in town, or lounge around the apartment soaking up the atmosphere. The owner, Peter, is both charming and helpful. He recommended Eleana, our personal on call taxi driver, as well as several great restaurants just steps from our door. If this beautiful apartment is available when you need it, don't let it get away. We were sorry to leave. But we will be back.
