Gabrielle purchased this Villa in 2000
Why Gabrielle chose Zona Vaticana
Along with my parents Robert and Micaela, I decided to create a B&B inside our beautiful villa from the 1920s. Our B&B meets different requirements from usual B&B: we give a great importance to a personal approach with our clients, because we want to do our best to make their vacation unforgettable. We also provide them with all the information needed in order to make them feel at home.
What makes this Villa unique
The location as well as the elegance and quality of our B&B. All the rooms have stucco-decorated ceilings and elegant Italian pieces of furniture. We provide our clients with precious linens and cotton towels. Our homemade breakfast, served in China and silver ware, consists of biological marmelades with butter and toast, freshly baked pies, yoghurt, juices and an unforgettable Italian coffee.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Great Access to Vatican
This location is directly across from the Vatican wall and we were able to walk to the Colosseum, Vatican, Trevi Fountain, and Spanish Steps. You do not need a rental car here if these are the sites you want to visit. The apartment was very nice and the AC was cool. The property was gorgeous, and exactly as described. Communication from the host was great.
DO NOT STAY HERE
Not a single picture of the rooms is where we stayed. There is a third property that we were completely surprised by. The owner left the keys on top of a gate and i had to call her to find them then be walked through how to get to where we were staying via phone call. But it was clean so we stayed. The property owner would then come into the rental while we were not there 2 days in a row. We got up early to do tours as we were only in Rome two full days. Upon returning the second day she had again been in the rental and this time had set an alarm. An alarm that was violently loud. I cannot exaggerate how loud. My ears and my mothers still hurt! This woman was able to give us a code but did not. It was broadcasted throughout the property so we couldn't escape it. She turned it off remotely but then turned it back on, making it go off again. She made up a story about a cleaner but we feel she did this in order to force us to pay the city tax in cash in person. All of which we had no problem with. She did not disclose this however until that day. I had trouble with service and didnt get the message until about 20 min before we were headed back to the property so I didn't respond. I guess that was our mistake. When i tried to talk to her about the alarm she was even more awful and i got very upset. So we actually left a day early and went to a hotel very near there called innvatican and it was only 10 euro more cleaner and no one came in our room. I would suggest not using vrbo in rome bc you aren't saving money. Avoid this terrible place either way. I have no idea how anyone has ever had a good experience here. Also the owner seems to use this property that we were given as storage so there was a ton of junk everywhere. A bunch of large furniture all locked so we had nowhere to store our things, no table to eat at or chairs to sit in. But we did have about 10 creepy pictures of a child i assume she's related to. Oh and crappy paper thin towels. This place was a real crap sandwich that kept on giving. This women should find another way to use her property bc this isnt it.
You stayed at the third floor, the so called gold apartment, which is the most beautiful apartment of the entire property (a suite that we only give rarely when three guests want to be in the same apt but need no kitchen and a fridge is sufficient).
I had been trying to contact you for a long time to explain that I would not be in Rome for work reasons (I am a journalist) on your arrival and if you were ok with me leaving the keys for you! You finally replied on the morning of your arrival and agreed (by the way I called many times not the other way around!!).
I was back on your second day in Rome, wrote you and invited you every morning for coffee but you never replied to my messages nor emails! But I did not give up and kept writing to find out how you were and if you needed anything!
the property is large with many floors and When my parents who live there are on vacation, I come by every morning with the cleaner (who brushes away the leaves from the terraces and waters the plants) to say hi to my guests, prepare coffee, throw their daily garbage and offer them my assistance! I waited two long mornings to meet you but I never got a reply or a note that you did not want to meet me!
I would have been very happy to offer you an alternative flat if I only knew you were unhappy with the roof top flat with view on Vatican walls and private terrace!
Thank God nearly all my guests enjoy their time at our property and many even return!
The alarm was put on by the cleaner by mistake on your floor (all other floors were empty and we prefer to put alarm on) and I was there to turn it off only 10 minutes after you called me! I excused myself many times but you did not even listen to me and insulted me heavily! There was no other reason for alarm than putting the building in security (by the way you left without paying the city tax)!!!
It’s a private home not a hotel so you found some pictures of my son..how can a pictures of a beautiful and healthy child be creepy!?!
By the way you sat every evening on the terrace and enjoyed the view, so you must have found a chair as there are many for our guests to enjoy the various terraces around the property!!
To be honest, you lied on basically all aspects and from my point of view you were not ready for staying in a private villa.,so next time better hotel! I will keep doing my work (which is thankfully very much appreciated)... Pity for you!!
This lovely home was just the escape I needed from the busy, noisy city above. Though some have complained of the steps leading down from the street, they provide a quiet little haven free from the noise of traffic. My two hosts could not have been more gracious and open to offering their insights about not only Rome but the city I was traveling to next - Prague! If I find myself in Rome again I will definitely try to stay here once more. Thanks for having me!
First of all, the hosts here are wonderful, charming, helpful & generous. Our interaction with them was perhaps the best part of this stay! The location is excellent, especially for those visiting the Vatican, and is convenient to public transportation. Avoid restaurants on Viale Vaticano, instead stick with your host's terrific recommendations. Our only caution relates to internet access. Both wi-fi and broadband were very spotty at this location. They are planning wi-fi improvements, so if connectivity is important, you might check the status of these before booking.
Location, Location, Location
This was the second time I stayed at this property because I loved it so much! The architecture, the terraces, and the outstanding hospitality ....all just steps away from the Vatican!
In June 2017 I stayed for a week with a small group of art lovers and had the great unexpected good fortune to see the Pope twice!
This past March some of us returned to Gabrielle's' family estate home for the same reason. Close to restaurants, fabulous shopping and food markets our host stocked our apartments with delicious treats, and fantastic coffee/teas- all at an extremely reasonable price.
The exterior terraces were a welcome a respite in June and an oasis in March (complete with blooming orchids). Built into the mountain below the Vatican wall you have a breathtaking view! Next to a convent, you have the best neighbors - total safety and convenience.
Gabrielle has offered us a family home away from home . Please do be advised the mountainside view comes at a 60 step cost. If you are up to really walking around Rome then you will be able to climb the stairs and be able to eat more pasta!
It's a nice place. It was quiet and we felt as if we had the place to ourselves. Good location
We liked the place alot, but the wi fi was weak and worked only in one spot inside the apartment. We liked the appearance and the feel of the terraces and the room. There were some basic supplies such as coffee and milk and a tasty lemon tart cake upon arrival. The contact person , Gabrielle was pleasant ,although short on time was offsite but available by telephone. The location of the apartment is great. It is right in back of the Vatican, so therefore quite easy to navigate to and from the places we visited. The stairways to the room are not for those who have difficulty with using stairways because there is quite a lot of them. The price was decent in comparison to alot of other places in the center of Rome. We used the fan to circulate the air a bit as there didn't seem to be any AC. Over all we really liked this unique spot, and it has a great charm and character . It felt like home in Rome for a few days, and greatfully , did not feel like a touristy hotel catering to the masses
