In the heart of Rome, at a few steps fom St.Peter`s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel there is a charming Liberty style villa built in 1923 and recently restored. The villa ''The Pomegranate'', surrounded by a small garden, is a green oasis in the very busy center of Rome and provides a tranquil retreat to the tourist. From our two terraces, it is possible to enjoy the view of the ancient walls designed by Michelangelo and of the Vatican gardens. Our bed and breakfast offers cozy and comfortable bedrooms, equipped with private bathrooms, TV, WIFI and heating/air conditioning. Breakfast, made of natural and organic home made products, is served either in our elegant, luminous sitting room, decorated with original stucco-works, overlooking the garden, or outside in the terrace. For those who stay one week or longer, we do not serve breakfast, but provide all the food necessary for a self-prepared one.
Please mind that, in order to reach the apartments from the street, there is a staircase of about sixty steps.
I am a 34 years old journalist and I write for the English magazine 'Wanted in Rome'. I attended the German School of Rome and later studied Political Science at the University of Rome. I am a very extroverted person and love meeting people from all countries.
Gabrielle purchased this villa in 2000
Along with my parents Robert and Micaela, I decided to create a B&B inside our beautiful villa from the 1920s. Our B&B meets different requirements from usual B&B: we give a great importance to a personal approach with our clients, because we want to do our best to make their vacation unforgettable. We also provide them with all the information needed in order to make them feel at home.
The location as well as the elegance and quality of our B&B. All the rooms have stucco-decorated ceilings and elegant Italian pieces of furniture. We provide our clients with precious linens and cotton towels. Our homemade breakfast, served in China and silver ware, consists of biological marmelades with butter and toast, freshly baked pies, yoghurt, juices and an unforgettable Italian coffee.
Thank you so much for your warm hospitality!Your home was so nice an comfortable. I enjoyed my trip to Italy so much and you and all the people we met in Italy were so warm and kind to us. It made me feel at home. Hope to see you again. You are always welcomed to come to my home in and stay in New York.
We could not have been happier with our stay. The location is superb – directly across the street from the Vatican – with the entrance to the Vatican you see him a short two minute walk. A bustling downtown square is a five minute walk. There you will find great restaurants and the Metro station.
Gabrielle was the perfect host from the time we arrived until we left. She arranged transportation from the cruise ship terminal and to the airport as well as booking the taxis we needed to see the sights in Rome. The apartments were clean and well-maintained and breakfast was delicious and ample. We were even provided several bottles of wine and some nice Italian cheeses.
As other reviewers have stated the stairs from the street to the villa can be a challenge for older visitors but no more so than any other part of Rome. After visiting the Coliseum and the Vatican the stairs to our apartment seemed trivial.
We stayed here two nights when we recently visited Rome. Gabrielle was very friendly, nice and helpful (she gave us some restaurant recommendations and made directions easy). This is a very big house that has been made into apartments. There are a lot of books, photos and other artifacts in each apartment. This could lend some local color to each room. We enjoyed our visit to Rome!
We had the privilege of taking a cooking course at Micaela and Roberto's beautiful villa. The villa is breathtaking and couldn't be more beautifully appointed.
Micaela was a skilled teacher with an inspiring view on cooking. Her cultural knowledge and welcoming personality made the course even more enjoyable.
We learned how to make bruschetta, lasagna, pesto, and chicken and speck roulades. The entire process was a thrill! We got to make our own noodles, sauce, béchamel, etc.! Everything was delicious. The hands-on experience was more than we could have imagined. If you're looking to truly learn the way of Italian cooking, you must take this course!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Micaela and Roberto - our visit during the meal was an added privilege! Learning about their experiences was an unexpected highlight. We consider them friends and hope to take another cooking class / stay in one of their villas in the future!
Highly, highly recommend!
We arrived at the apartment and met the owner who was very nice and provided some basics like water and food for breakfast, etc. The location is across the street from the Vatican walls in close proximity to the Vatican Museum entrance. There is a metro stop and restaurants in the neighborhood very nearby. We rented both apartments which worked well for our family with teenagers giving them their own space while still being together as a family. The terrace is nice to sit and unwind as it is away from noise of the city.
I was just looking up this lovely bed & breakfast located in the heart of Rome for my niece who will be traveling to Italy soon. My Swiss/American friend and I stayed in this conveniently located villa for our 2 day stay and were delighted to find it was across the street from the Vatican! We took a tour bus to the Colliseum and found that the metro was more convenient for getting off and on at our leisure. We actually walked home across Rome one night after the buses had stopped running realizing how centrally located we were. The terraces of the home were so inviting as was Gabriella's husband/or father (not sure) who attended to us while Gabriella was away with the mother. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. We had a delicious breakfast upstairs in the dining room with our host one morning and the other morning grabbed a pastry down the street. This lovely home and host was our favorite accommodation of our week long Italian vacation. I would highly recommend this Italian villa, even to my niece! Enjoy!
We stayed in both the blue and fushia apartments and were very happy to call them home during our 3 nights in Rome. It's a short walk to the Vatican, St. Peter's, restaurants, and shopping. It's also a short walk to the metro, which we took to the Colosseum and Spanish Steps and then walked back, seeing many sights along the way.
The apartments were clean, very well cared for, and exactly as described in the listing. Gabrielle was great to communicate with before our arrival and very welcoming when we arrived. She gave us recommendations for food and things to see in the area and also booked our transportation to and from the airport. We'd be happy to stay here again!
