About Bob Alexander
Professional couple in the financial services and software industries with two college graduate children. Primary home is outside of Saratoga Springs. Bob, who recently retired, has been an Adirondack enthusiast for over 60 years.
Bob Alexander purchased this House in 2013
Why Bob Alexander chose Hadley
The couple truly loves the area and own two houses adjacent to the Foxrun property. Their 220 acre estate was accumulated over the past 20 years with the first home purchased 30 years ago. The 220 acres are pristine and contain wildlife diversity: fox, deer, racoons, wild turkey, pheasant, bald and golden eagles, bear, and other species. No hunting is permitted and signs are posted throughout the property.
What makes this House unique
Whether you want to kick back and do nothing, or you are a busy tourist, you can enjoy both in the Great Sacandaga Lake area and never sacrifice privacy or pleasure.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
The house was spacious and wonderful. The dock was a bit of a hike, but not terrible. Dropped kids off in the car then drove back up and walked down. We clocked it at around .2 miles. Downhill the way there, but uphill back and the driveway was tough for kids and adults especially in flip flops. Just a warning for families, but we enjoyed it. We had two coolers for drinks so plenty of fridge room for us since we all shared food. The hike behind the home was gorgeous. Quick drive to plenty of towns with things to do. Everyone had a great time and appreciate that Bob was there with any fixes for the house if needed.
Lovely location. Nice hike to top of mountain on the property with beautiful view of lake. Handicapped accessible. Kitchen well appointed with commercial oven/stove top (could use a larger refrigerator, though, for feeding 14 for a week) and has every gadget you would need.
The kids loved the pool table and swimming dock.
Plenty to do in area: pontoon boats available to rent and white-water rafting on Sacandaga River was fun for everyone.
Excellent Week Away
We had a great time for our vacation week. The house is bigger than it looks, with plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was big with lots of utensils, pots/pans, and appliances. The location was nice. The private hiking trail was nice and convenient, and the view from the top of the mountain was excellent. The nearby areas, towns, trails, and sites were also really cool, especially the Bear Slides. Overall, we had a great time, and Bob was very communicative, and helpful.
We're glad everyone had such a nice time and we hope to see you, again, next year!
Sweet, restful family vacation spot at Fox Run
My extended family of 12 (8 adults, 4 kids) found this rental to be the perfect size for our group. The first (main) floor bedroom with accessible bathroom worked out well for my parents, as did the ramp leading into the house for easy access. Those of us with kids stayed in the Lower Level bedrooms next door to the room with 2 bunk beds (where all 4 kids loved staying together). The 2nd (top) floor master suite is beautiful and huge. It worked out well for us to have 3 full bathrooms (one on each level) for our large group.
Our children loved the outdoor play set and space outside and inside to explore. Everyone enjoyed the ample space to spread out, in the 3 different living areas (2nd floor TV, 1st floor large/open living/dining space, and lower level pool table and TV area). We enjoying having washer/dryer access for our large group. The dishwasher also came in very handy. We loved being able to grill and eat out on the deck, which was also a perfect place for resting and watching the stars. The fire pit was so lovely for telling family stories at night.
A few of us hiked up the mountain and were rewarded with an incredible view!
Bob is a very communicative and responsive host. He touched base with me a few times via phone before our trip, and answered all my questions promptly. He came out to the house immediately when one of the smoke detectors (unreachable without a tall ladder) started chirping due to low battery.
We would happily return to Fox Run and the gorgeous Adirondacks!
Great time at Fox Run
The home is beautiful and well kept. If we needed anything owner was very gracious in helping.
Kitchen appliances were great. Stove is industrial type so cooking on it was fun. Having the dishwasher to put dishes in made kitchen clean up a breeze.
Bathrooms were very nice. Great that there were 3. Especially when you have a large family.
Only wished water access was closer. It is quite a walk to the dock. It had rained and was very muddy from road to dock. Owner is working on fixing. You can see where this is being done, just not completed.
Take the hike up the mountain. View is worth it. But wear hiking shoes. It is very rocky in spots and it had rained night before we went so there was a lot of run off so had to walk around running water. (It is a mountain).
The deck was so nice to sit out on and the fire pit was great in the evening.
I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did ours.
Great weekend getaway!
Stayed at the property for a long weekend with extended family. Spacious and clean house in a picturesque setting. Bob was an excellent host and very accommodating. Would definitely come back.
