About Bob Alexander

Professional working couple in the financial services and software industries with two college age children. Primary home is outside of Saratoga Springs. Bob, who recently retired, has been an Adirondack enthusiast for 61 years.

Bob Alexander purchased this house in 2013

Why Bob Alexander chose Great Sacandaga Lake

The couple truly loves the area and own two houses adjacent to the Foxrun property. Their 220 acre estate was accumulated over the past 15 years with the first home purchased 30 years ago. The 220 acres are pristine and contain wildlife diversity: fox, deer, racoons, wild turkey, pheasant, bald and golden eagles, bear, and other species. No hunting is permitted and signs are posted throughout the property.

What makes this house unique

Whether you want to kick back and do nothing, or you are a busy tourist, you can enjoy both in the Great Sacandaga Lake area and never sacrifice privacy or pleasure.

Great

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at fox run 7/5 to 7/15...it was wonderful. Booking a home online can be a little uncertain, but our expectations were fully met. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the house, the playroom...and great deck and fire pit. My 3 year old grandson had a "ball" with the outdoor play gym. We went swimming, white water rafting. Pontoon boating and enjoyed the attractions in Lake George village. Bob and Ann were wonderful hosts and made sure we were well informed and had what we needed.

Wonderful vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family vacation at Bob and Ann's house. The house was spacious with lots of places to gather. Great kitchen, lovely deck. We hiked up the mountain behind the house a couple of times--what a spectacular view! The only thing that was a little disappointing is that I somehow got the idea from the pictures that the house was right on the lake. To get to the lake, you have to cross a road and walk down the shoulder a couple hundred yards--not a big deal, but it would have been awesome to be right on the lake.

Family Vacation 2017

  • 4 of 5

My family and I spent a week at Foxrun and had a wonderful time. It was just what we were looking for. Close to Saratoga Springs and Lake George. We hit most of the hot spots Bob referred us to. The house was clean and the kitchen well stocked with utensils, cooking items, spices, coffee etc. The rooms were nice and everyone (17 people at one point) slept comfortably. The Lake access wasn't as convenient as we would have liked but we did get there and use the kayaks and canoe. It was great having coffee on the deck in the morning and playing pool in the lower level of the house at night. It's a great place to relax and have fun! Thanks again Bob!

A great family getaway home

  • 4 of 5

A lovely home that allowed our 3 families to each have our own floor in comfort. The swing set and fire pit made for fun times with the kids, along with the spacious deck for eating dinners. The lake is further from the home than we would have liked, but once we got there, it was fabulous. Bob is a great guy and offered to accommodate us in any way possible.

Great house for large family vacation

  • 5 of 5

This house has 3 floors....top for one family, bottom for another with Grandma in middle.....all had their private space, with plenty of open area for all. We enjoyed hiking up the mountain from right outside the back door. The view at the top was spectacular! Even the 2 yr. old made the trek. Campfires, fishing, we rented a boat and found a beach to anchor in. Drove to Saratoga State Park 1 day...highly recommend that...all in all, it was exactly what we were looking for....a week in the mountains enjoying everything it had to offer...

Great house! Frustrating walk!

  • 3 of 5

Positives:

The owner Bob, is a very nice man. He takes the time to make sure you are well taken care of. The linens and towels included is great. The house is nice and big! The five bedrooms are roomy and the living space is huge. The backyard fire pit area was perfect for night time, and the hike behind the house was fun to do and led us to a beautiful view. Great distance away from Lake George for a visit; not long of a drive (about 30 minutes).

Negatives:

We were very upset with the lake access. When I initially inquired, I asked if there was a steep drop off to the lake because we had a toddlers with us and we didn't want the danger. Bob replied saying there was no steep drop off, which is true .... but no one cared to explain that the walk to the lake from the house was long (I would say a 1/4 mile?). This walk was also on the main road in which cars fly on at very high speeds around a subtle bend. If I said that I had toddlers with me, a 6 month old, and a 2 month old, I think that information would have been shared out of common courtesy. I understand that the description of the house says a 3-minute walk. I anticipated that walk to be mostly the long driveway as seen in pictures. I thought the lake access point was relatively in front of the house. There is no picture of the road you actually need to walk on to get to the lake. With kids, and with a lot of people, it really made us all upset. We were exhausted by the time we got home at the end of the day. Every neighboring house who had that same distance had the luxury of their own golf cart to drive them back and forth. We had our legs.

We vacation on Lake Sacandaga to be at the lake. You could not see the lake from the house; the trees blocked it all.

The beach was rocky; you need water shoes for sure.

I hate leaving any negative reviews, but no other review stated any information about that walk. If it did, we might have reconsidered.
