Lake Lure Cottage Rental Photos and Description

MOUNTAIN VIEWS * INTERNET ACCESS * CLOSE TO CHIMNEY ROCK SHOPS & PARK

(no pets..no exceptions)

This heavenly mountain retreat offers a lovely direct view of Chimney Rock, the iconic feature of Chimney Rock State Park (Click here for Live Cam) featured on the front cover of Arthur Frommer's Sept/Oct 2012 issue of "Budget Travel Magazine . The entrance to Chimney Rock State Park, recent Platinum award winner for favorite state park in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a mere two blocks away. The quaint shops and restaurants in Chimney Rock Village and the picturesque, trout filled Rocky Broad River are just a stone's throw away. Located just a mile from the Beach/Marina at Lake Lure and the multitude of Lake Lure restaurants and activities. As an added point of interest, the "Indian Village/Tee Pees" scene location from the movie The Last of the Mohicans is directly behind the house near the top of the mountain. Enjoying the coveted direct facial views of Chimney Rock from the front deck or just watching the deer and wild turkeys, enveloped by the soothing sounds of the Rocky Broad and singing mountain birds spell total R E L A X A T I O N.

We don't just rely on the prime "LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION" and value pricing of our property to attract your business. In addition, our retreat is equipped with high quality furnishings, each personally selected by the owners as if they occupied the home full time, with YOUR COMFORT in mind. Your body will LOVE the high quality NASA memory foam mattresses covered with 600 thread count Egyptian cotton linens! Couple these with the refreshing mountain air and soothing sounds of the Rocky Broad for a sleep experience that will keep you coming back for more.

With the area's temperate climate and beauty, this home can be enjoyed throughout the year. Springtime brings the blooming of the dogwood and redbud trees as well as the azaleas, rhododendron, and mountain laurel. Summer brings lush greenery and the autumn colors are extraordinary. Winters are mild and, with less tree obstruction, views are incredible.

Western North Carolina offers a number of entertainment and activity options as well as some of the most beautiful views you will ever see. Just 29 miles west is Asheville and the Biltmore Estate. You can tour the mansion and winery, and at Christmastime enjoy the beautifully decorated trees and lights. Biltmore Village is home to many unique shops and, according the Food Network Channel, one of the most beautiful McDonald's restaurants in the world.

This area of North Carolina caught the attention of Hollywood years ago. A number of movies have been filmed in Asheville and at the Biltmore Estate including the Peter Sellers film Being There. Chimney Rock State Park is where a The Last of the Mohicans scene was filmed. This a perfect place to spend the day hiking and admiring the magnificent views. Dirty Dancing, My Fellow Americans, Firestarter, and A Breed Apart scenes were filmed at Lake Lure. As National Geographic's pick as one of the top ten most beautiful man-made lakes in the world, no wonder Lake Lure has been a popular filming site. Less than 50 miles away, at the DuPont State Recreational Forest, scenes from The Hunger Games movie were filmed including the 74th Hunger Games where Katniss Everdeen finds Peeta Mellark wounded and camouflaged among the rocks and leaves; earlier in the film where Peeta and Cato battle; and where exploding fireballs threaten Katniss as she runs through the forest. About 60 miles away is Grandfather Mountain in Linville where Forrest Gump, in the movie of the same name, was filmed running and the hairpin curve is now named after the famous character. The beauty of western North Carolina keeps bringing filmmakers back to our area.

Additionally, the Lake Lure area offers seasonal scenic boat tours, tennis, golf, horseback riding, biking, fishing, zip lining, phenomenal hiking and restaurants. Quaint Bat Cave offers unique shops. Just 20 miles away is Rutherfordton, where you can enjoy wonderful meals, great shopping, and a children's museum. Thirty minutes away historic Hendersonville boasts antique shopping and live theater. Click our VISITOR INFORMATION tab for details.

Just pack your clothes, pick up some groceries (an Ingles Market is just minutes away), then sit back, relax, and enjoy all western North Carolina and Sounds of Nature have to offer—be our guest!

Guestbook comments from the manager

We stayed at this cabin for a few days at the end of December. The location is perfect nearby Chimney Rock Village - lots of places to walk around and the Chimney Rock park is close. You can view the Rock from the cabin patio and yet the cabin is in a quiet, peaceful location. Only thing you hear at night is the sound of the beautiful river nearby. Loved it and will go back in Summer!

Chimney View Rocks!

  • 5 of 5

My stay at Chimney View was a fabulous experience. The cabin was clean, tastefully decorated, and very well maintained. The natural wood paneling, flooring, and cabinetry were beautiful. The location was perfect for the wedding festivities I attended at Laughing Waters Retreat in Gerton on Fri-Sun, shopping at Manual Woodworkers outlet in Gerton and enjoying the beautiful Flowering Bridge at Lake Lure. I will return and would recommend the property to family and friends.

Beautiful and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This home is located in a beautiful area with a GREAT view of Chimney Rock. It is well equipped with very comfortable furniture...especially the beds! It is tastefully decorated and our family was very comfortable. The high speed internet was appreciated although I kept asking myself why I was on the internet and not enjoying the natural beauty? Each evening about 10 deer were grazing next door...absolutely beautiful! The location is great. A few minutes to the entrance of Chimney Rock and Lake Lure about a mile away. The price was right too...in our opinion, this rental was a great value! The transaction with the property manager was seamless. This home was everything it was advertised to be. We loved our stay and will return again!
