Dream Vacation Home

Whether they stayed for a romantic getaway, honeymoon destination, or family vacation (sorry, no four-legged family members), guests consistently say that Limerick Lodge is a "dream vacation home."

Just imagine . . .

. . .soaking in master bathroom's large corner bathtub.

. . .admiring the beautiful sunset while canoeing on the small lake.

. . .fishing right from the dock.

. . .a gentle breeze while you nap on the deck,

. . .enjoying a game of pool or foosball with you family.

. . .the warmth from the fireplace on a cool autumn night.

This is just a small sample of what this lovely home has to offer. Limerick Lodge is the perfect mountain vacation home. This home is 9.3 miles to the Beach at Lake Lure, 10.6 miles to Chimney Rock State Park, and 18 miles to the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC).

Room for Everyone

Plus, with over 2000 square feet of living space, there is room for everyone and all of the conveniences of home (plus some). If you visit once, we are confident that you will return again for the fun, hospitality, beauty, and comfort.

Main Level Space

When you walk in the door, you enter the fully equipped kitchen complete with ceramic cook top range, refrigerator with ice maker, coffee maker, microwave, and dishwasher. There is a table with seating for 4.

To the left is a hall, with large storage closet, and entrance to the master bedroom. The private bathroom features a large corner bathtub, shower, and long vanity.

Straight ahead from the kitchen is the living room, complete with gas-log fireplace (with windows on each side), a line of windows overlooking the yard, and doors to the deck. There is also a 50" high-definition LCD television with DirecTV and DVD player (bring your favorite movies to watch).

To the left of the living area is a bathroom with large shower and the second bedroom. Walk up the stairs in the living area to the loft for two twin beds, queen futon, and half bath. This space is great for children to have a space of their own.

Dine in or al fresco! There is a gas grill, ample seating, and beautiful views from the deck. It is a great place to relax with a book, take in the fresh mountain air, or just to sit and take in the beauty of the area.

Lower Level Entertainment

The lower level has so many entertainment options that you will need at least a weekend to enjoy them all! There is a seating area (sleeper sofa) and large flat-screen television with the DirecTV and DVD player. There is a gaming table that seats four. Plus, there is a foosball table, ping pong table and pool table. Large windows let in plenty of light. Also on this level is the washer/dryer and a full bathroom (with bathtub/shower combination).

Outdoor Fun

The yard is huge (the lot is 1.79 acres)! Walk down to the lake and there is a small sandy area. In the garage is a canoe for use on the lake. Grab some poles and go fishing (a license is required); the lake is stocked every year. Build castles in the sand. There is also a fire pit. Just imagine roasting marshmallows under the stars! There truly is something for everyone at this mountain retreat.

Very clean, nice cabin

  • 4 of 5

I recently stayed at Lakeside Retreat with 8 other close friends for a Girls Weekend Getaway. The house was extremely clean and comfortable, and we had everything we needed and more. My only negative comment would be that we were expecting to be on a LAKE that we could swim and float around in, but instead, this home is located on a large pond. The water is probably great for fishing because it is not moving and therefore more stagnant, and a breeding ground for mosquitos. We had to go into town (Lake Lure - about 10 minute drive) to be "on the water". Tubing nearby on the Green River was a ton of fun, too!

Beautiful and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

Overall, great place. Beautiful scenery and very accommodating. The lake is nice and cool which was great for an evening swim. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was the lack of a landline telephone in case of emergencies(cell phone service is spotty and next to none with some providers).

Better Than Great Time Was Had By All!!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place and location. Private area so we were able to enjoy the lake and all this home had to offer in private without being accosted by noise, other vacationers, etc. The lake was fantastic for keeping the kids and adults happy and cool. This is definitely one our return locations for future visits.

Poor property and management

  • 1 of 5

We just returned from a three night stay at this property. It was supposed to be four. We left early. The property was subpar, though likely a result of poor management. The ad looked great. But when we got there we were immediately disappointed. There were dead bugs all over the basement floor. The foosball table had no foosballs. The pingpong table was broken, as were the paddles and balls (seems people have been using the pingpong balls for the foosball table, and as a result almost all of them were dented up). Most of the sand was missing from the beach, weeds were growing, and the plastic tarps were nearly all visible. The pilot light for the gas fireplace wouldn't work. We contacted the management company and they said they would send someone out the next morning. The rep arrived the next afternoon but the only issue she corrected was the pilot light. It subsequently went out again and we could not get it to come back on and stay on. She said she would have to drive 30 minutes to a Wal-Mart to get more foosballs, and made it sound like it would be a hassle. The worst part was the list of things for which the management company would charge us if we didn't comply (not fully emptying out and transporting garbage to the local dump, etc.). The list was long, and playing housekeeper at the end of the trip was an especially relaxing way to end our vacation. I just wish I could send the management company a bill for all of the things advertised that turned out not to be.

Owner's Response: Our # 1 goal is to have happy guests and happy homeowners. It is never pleasant to find out that anyone is disappointed or did not enjoy the property they reserved. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to some of the issues above so future guests can make an informed decision about renting this property. Regarding dead bugs, we believe you are talking about the basement garage floor, while it is swept or blown out, it is a garage and difficult to keep out occasional pests. We do not advertise this home as having a ping pong table at all. We have replaced the old pool table, that would accommodate the ping pong table, with a much nicer and more expensive one (not yet in pictures). No ping pong table shown in photos or in written description. Missing Foos balls; yes, perhaps they were lost from the previous reservation and we overlooked accounting for them and we apologize. Regarding sand, we had two major rain storms just prior to your, we did not realize the sand washed away into the lake but did contact the home owner immediately and he contacted his service person and asked that they come the next morning to remove exposed plastic and rake entire area smooth so it would be nicer for you. We did send a service person the next morning and in fact she drove there three times but no one answered the door the first two visits. On the third visit she lit the gas logs, looked in the Foosball table and found one ball (one ball is all you use in Foosball) and provided a brand new package of ping pong balls for the kids to use as well. We would like to clarify a few additional things; we are in a MAJOR heat wave and setting record high temperatures so it isn't very kind to run the air conditioner full blast and the gas heating logs at the same time. Upon your departure we found - garbage under the kitchen sink, urine on the Futon, ping pong balls including new ones smashed flat, gas grill was deep cleaned prior to arrival but was left very greasy and dirty, owners boxes and supplies in garage were all opened and all over the place and a gallon can of paint was opened and left open, thank goodness it was not spilled. Lakeside Retreat is one of our most popular homes and many guests have enjoyed their stay and have returned for repeat visits, often 2 and 3 times. We apologize you did not enjoy your stay.
