Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 1 Full BA, 1 3/4 BA, 4-6 twins, 1 king

We are a LICENSED vacation rental, and offer 3 bedrooms, two with 2 twins each and one with a king bed, plus two twin high-end airbeds that can be reserved in advance for larger parties. All the beds, pillows, and linens are quite new. There is a great kitchen for group cooking, as well as a dining area with a large dining table for 8. Outside we have a pretty deck that is shaded in summer, and a large fenced backyard with 4 raised-bed vegetable gardens.

The house is in a quiet, safe neighborhood a short walk from Pearl Street. A grocery store, coffee shop, bakery, post office, pharmacy, several restaurants and other shops as well as a bus lines to campus, a rental center for the city bike program, and a city rec center are a few pretty residential blocks away. Ideal for 6, we have very comfortable high-end air beds that can be set up for a small extra charge per night of use. One will fit in the third bedroom, and one in the master bedroom.

We are a 15-minute walk from the Pearl Street Mall, and have parks, playgrounds, and a recreation center a very short walk away. There is a Sanitas trailhead walking distance to the west for a strenuous climb to the top of Mt. Sanitas, with its worthwhile views!

You have your own private entrance, and parking in the driveway, and a large entryway for extra baggage.

We can provide a high chair, infant bed, and safety gates, and have a secure fenced yard.

The full bath has a large tub and shower; the second bath is downstairs off the laundry room and has a shower. It is shared with us, but is kept in hotel condition and cleaned each day.

About Dedra Smith

I'm a local artist who organizes art workshops for other artists, usually overseas. I spend my time looking for appealing properties overseas that provide separate beds for participants who are often happy to share a room, but not a bed. I want to offer the same for Boulder!

Dedra Smith purchased this house in 2005

Why Dedra Smith chose Boulder

This house is full of art, beautiful light, and tranquility. The neighbors are mainly families or older adults, and the neighborhood is very safe and friendly. It's ideal for visitors who want to sleep soundly at night, enjoy walking on pretty residential streets with big trees, and who appreciate the option of preparing simple to elaborate meals in the well-equipped kitchen.

I'm happy to have you use spices, snag a can of tomato sauce you may have forgotten from my larder, or enjoy fresh herbs from the garden!

I also provide soap, shampoo & conditioner, hair dryer, toilet paper, paper towels, salt, pepper and sugar, cooking oil, and other sundries to contribute to the quality of your experience while staying here.

What makes this house unique

This house is wonderfully situated for hiking in the foothills, strolling to Pearl Street Mall (about a 15 minute walk) or catching one of two bus lines nearby. There are community gardens at the end of the street, a rec center near it, and the convenience of residential parking.

Great place to stay in Boulder

  • 4 of 5

Everything was great.

Our host was helpful and gave us privacy.

The value was terrific. The unit is nice and clean and is walk-able to town. There is hiking nearby.

We had no problem accommodating 6.

Boulder is a great place from which to explore Colorado.

I would rent again.

Thanks

Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind words. No one likes to get sick while on vacation, but your family was so sweet and together that I really admired you all. I was happy to help however I could. Thanks so much for staying, and sorry for the blizzard;-( Dedra

Perfect for small family get togethers

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for a small family gathering in Boulder.

This house is located in a quiet section of Boulder, not far from the downtown area. The house was clean, the beds comfortable, and the kitchen was adequately stocked for cooking in. Dedra was great to deal with. She answered any questions we had and even made sure there were toys out for my two small nieces.

Great, cozy and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

The house was wonderfully cozy, and perfect for our little getaway. We didn't spend much time at the house, but when we did, we felt at peace. The beds were perfect for our larger group. The backyard was a nice escape , and the kitchen came stocked with everything we needed to enjoy a good breakfast and occasional meal. Dedra and her husband were more than accommodating to help us out. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

Location! Location! Location!

  • 5 of 5

Three of us, college roomies in the 60's, stayed in this lovely home for one week.

We love to walk everywhere, and this was the perfect location for us. Strolling every day to nearby Pearl St. Mall, grocery shopping, restaurants, bagel shop, farmers' market, library, in town creek walking and biking trail, and also to bike stations.

By car, we also visited Celestial Seasonings factory and Rocky Mountain National Park. Boulder Reservoir was our destination on a warm afternoon for swimming and ice cream!

The home was very comfortable, with great beds. I love the bedroom that opens on to the deck, great light! The kitchen was well equipped, and there was room for all three of us to work in it together. We also took advantage of the goodies in the garden to accent some of our evening meals.

The deck was wonderful for morning coffee, and girl gabs!

The owner was very accommodating, and answered all our questions about Boulder, and suggested places to visit nearby. She even came running when

we had a minor crisis in the kitchen, how to work the coffee pot for morning coffee.

Overall it was a great place to stay in a lovely quiet neighborhood, and if we visit Boulder again, we'll be sure to call.

Great Home away from Home!

  • 5 of 5

We felt very lucky to have found this cozy getaway for our daughter's CU graduation. Great location. Lots of room to spread out and enjoy some time together instead of being cooped up in hotel rooms, and at such a reasonable price during graduation weekend! Everything was clean and ready for us. Dedra and Bob were there to assist us if needed, but very careful to allow us privacy (shared home with private entrance). They were quick to respond to our one query and more than willing to accommodate an added request. I would definitely recommend this property! Thanks for sharing your home!

Boulder is a great year-round destination with cultural resources through the university and other resources, outdoor activities galore, and a picturesque and charming setting.

I love hiking in the nearby Eldorado Canyon, or from the house, joining the goat trail up Sanitas. Sometimes, I like to walk along 4th or 5th Street and just look at the beautiful houses!

In the summer, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival provides phenomenal productions on the CU campus, and in the winter, there are music recitals in the acoustically excellent Grusin Music Hall, many for free.

Strolling to Pearl Street to experience all that pedestrian thoroughfare offers is always pleasant, and stopping in at the various restaurants, bars, and shops along the way is a great way to spend a few hours anytime!

Chautauqua is another jewel in Boulder's crown, whether for kite flying, kid playing, dining, music, hiking, strolling through the summer city or sketching the Flatirons.

Personally, I wouldn't miss a trip to the Jamestown Merc on Saturday night where the live music is always great, and the menu is full of tasty options. It's great to see how the town has come back from the devastation of the 2013 flood.

Finally, for me, I wouldn't want to leave the Boulder area without a drive along the Peak to Peak from Nederland to Allenspark, and on over into Rocky Mountain National Park, which still ranks as my top not-to-be-missed destination!
