|Minimum Stay||5 nights|
Whether you want to just relax, swim, walk or jog on the beach, do a little shopping in local trendy boutiques, or experience the best food in the Caribbean - this is the place for you! Our charming apartment is on a quiet beach and only a short 5 minute walk to Grand Case village. We have a friendly, knowledgeable property manager who will help you with any questions that you might have during your stay.
The unit has a main level with a living room and eating area, a bathroom, and a simple kitchen. The upstairs bedroom has a bathroom and a deck overlooking Grand Case bay and Anguilla. Cable TV (english, french, and spanish channels) is provided should you wish to keep up with current events. Wi-fi coverage is throughout the unit and on the beach below.
Grand Case beach has pretty much everything you need to relax your day away. Friar's Bay and Happy Bay can be both reached on foot should you require a change of scenery. The fun-filled Orient beach is a 10 minute drive.
There are no chain hotels or restaurants anywhere in Grand Case - only authentic small intimate hotels and unique restaurants serving outstanding original food. The vast majority of the top 10 restaurants on the island are within a 10 minute walk of our apartment. The Dutch side has more North American restaurant options and is only a short drive away.
Grand Case has several small grocery stores - all within walking distance. A large supermarket with gourmet European food is a 5 minute drive. If it's North American food you crave, there's another large supermarket 15 minutes away just across the border on the Dutch side.
A car is not required for your stay but is nice to have in order to see the rest of the island. There is parking in front of the building. You can also rent a car virtually across the street if you only need it for a day or two.
We needed some serious down time.... Island time to be exact. Grand Case is a quaint village on the French side of the island that suits our needs perfectly. We opted once again not to rent a car, but to bus and cab everywhere as it is a challenge to find parking throughout the island. But most days? We didn't! Ocean Sounds has a perfect view. A typical day looked like this: wake up to the sounds of the ocean lapping up on the beach, head downstairs to make coffee and enjoy the 180 degree view while you sip your first cup of java. Make breaky and eat oceanside. Take chairs downstairs to the beach and drop yourself there for the day. Revel in the most calm, turquiose ocean as warm as a bathtub and a light ocean breeze to help beat the heat while you read your book. Take leisurely walks on the very un-touristy, un-crowded beach and say bonjour to everyone you walk by. Lunch at one of the french cafes on the ocean with a glass of Rose. Late afternoons back on your deck with a fresh baguette from the Patisserie down the street, french cheeses and charcuterie and a cocktail to watch the sunset. Head out for dinner and walk the beach in the moonlight along the way. But now a problem confronts you... Where do you even begin to make your dinner choice? The village of Grand Case is known as the "Culinary Capital of the Caribbean", and has the reputation for having the BEST restaurants and food throughout the Caribbean. Over thirty of them on the same street as the Ocean Sounds condo! Whatever your tastes, there is something here to DIE for. Go high end with fine French cuisine, seafood (lobster there is incredible), Italian, etc. There are casual cafes and funky little beach bars where you dine with your toes in the sand while listening to the regaee band. There are local outdoor BBQ's where you can eat for under $15 - share the plate, and still have enough for lunch the next day! The options are endless, your waistline could become that too lol!!! The most stellar part of Ocean Sounds is its views, whether you are upstairs or down, its just amazing. And the proximity to all the restaurants, no driving and parking to go out for dinner! You will smirk to yourself as you are walking the street from the condo.... seeing all the people coming in from Marigot and Phillipsburg to have dinner and not finding anywhere to park! Stay at Ocean Sounds folks. The hosts are wonderful, its all wonderful. We will be going back again and again...
We thoroughly enjoyed our week, with two minor exceptions: the local cell phone did not work, even though Jeraldine brought her own personal charger to try. There was no follow up, and when the TV did not work, there was no one to call to get it to work. Nevertheless, the wonderful location (proximity to great restaurants,) the beautiful beach and water, as well as the apartment layout helped us to overcome these issues, and we had a wonderful stay. However, the traffic was bumper to bumper most of the time, and maybe next time we will try another season
This was my second visit! Absolutely the best way to experience Gran Case! The place is spacious and clean, right on the beach - fantastic location to relax for the day, and sleep at night with the waves' lullaby. All the most beautiful restaurants of French St. Martin are in the walking distance and offer the wide range of cuisine for any budget. Amazing time, highly recommend the place, and will be back next year! Thanks a million !
We spent 10 glorious quiet days here. Peter and Jitka made sure all our needs were met. It is close to restaraunts and shopping. The beach is pristine, calm and so quiet. All the comforts of home, including Wifi and TV with a great selection of channels if you want to keep in tune with the world. They even supply a cell phone for local calling. The view is spectacular. We have discussed with them a few minor upgrades, but this is a little piece of heaven for sure. Do we recommend Ocean Sounds, most definitely and look forward to going back.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ocean Sounds. The beach here is incredible and it was nice just to sit on the patio and listen to the ocean sounds. The unit is as described, fairly basic but comfortable. The restaurants in the area are amazing. Would definitely like to come back again!
The condo was great! It was nice and clean when we arrived - it even smelled fresh and clean. We were met at the car rental agency and escorted to the condo, given a tour around the unit and then left with a little box of food (wine, beer, eggs, cheese, coffee, etc). to get things started. A classy touch!
It was a great place to kick back and relax, and we loved the location. Grand Case is just a few minutes walk down the street (or beach), with convenience stores, shops, a great little bakery and - our course - the restaurants! We ate at many of the restaurants in Grand Case and had a wonderful meal every time. Calmos Cafe was our favourite - after your meal, make sure to ask to try the house made infused rum!
This was our first visit to St. Martin and the condo was a great "base" to explore: Orient Beach, Friar's Bay Beach, Marigot, Oyster Pond, Maho beach for airplane watching - nothing is really that far away. It was a great experience staying on the French side of the island - Caribbean with a European flavour!
In the end, we spent quite a bit of time relaxing at the condo. Everything worked great: the kitchenette for making breakfast in the morning, wifi, air conditioning, etc. We even turned on the TV for a couple hours one evening. You just can't beat the spectacular view from the patio - a great place morning or night for enjoying a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
Support from the management company was great, and the owner checked in with us a couple times during our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation, and highly recommend Ocean Sounds!
Ocean Sounds was the perfect getaway! Beautifully furnished, spacious, comfortable, and the most amazing view! The condo is literally "Beach front" as the pictures suggest. Grand Case is a great location to be staying as there are so many awesome restaurants and bars, just around the corner. The king size bed is extremely comfortable, quality linens and towels, fast Wifi, very helpful staff. If you are planning a trip to St Martin, I would highly recommend checking this place out! We will be back, for sure! Russ & Tala.
