Our stay at this water front home was perfect for my husband and I. We loved being on the canal and close to the bridge to walk over to all the restaurants and shops. We spent most of our afternoons sitting on the very large patio with a glass of wine watching the sun going down. We really enjoyed using the kayaks right off the dock. We used the bikes and took the ferry over to the ocean board walk and biked for miles. This beach home is equipped with everything you would need for a vacation, including a washer and dryer and garage. I loved the decor showing what Balboa Island was like in the 20's. We have been coming to Balboa Island for many years, as we used to live in the Newport Beach area. Renting on Balboa Island is one of our favorite vacations, and this was the best home we have rented on the Island!
This charming home, right on the canal, is wonderful. The home offered all of the amenities you could ask for and then some. The patio faces the canal and you get full afternoon sun. The kayaks on the dock made it so fun to be able to just hop in the water and paddle away for the day. Bikes in the garage were also a hit. The canal-front home is close to everything, i.e. Starbucks, market, shopping. It truly is the perfect beach get-away. I will definitely return to this Balboa Island home.
We loved this little house on the canal -- a perfect location, on the small island and the canal and just one block from Marine -- house is adorable, very beachy, clean and cute and very comfortable -- great front porch area and pier where my boys hunted down crabs for hours -- kitchen is very well outfitted -- even though its a little tight its nice to have a parking space -- Balboa Island is one of my favorite places and this house was a great fit for us -- house has a lot of extras (kayaks, bikes, life jackets, linens, washer and dryer, etc) but I didn't see beach chairs and/or towels so that might be the only thing I would suggest adding -- Alexandra at HOM Property Management was great to work with -- thanks so much for sharing your great little house and allowing us a great vacation!
Absolutely loved our time at this magnificent cottage! The home is spotless, well-maintained and the thoughtful owners have done a marvelous job of providing all household necessities. Husband and I have stayed at other properties on Balboa Island and so far this is our favorite. A wonderful bonus is having use of the bicycles and kayaks. If R&R is more your style, the canal-front patio and your favorite beverage are calling your name.
Our family of 4 adults spent a week at this property and it was perfect for us. Its on the quiet Little Island facing the Grand Canal with a large patio for enjoying the view, having a glass of wine or BBQing. Its one of the charming older cottage homes in Balboa and has its own dock complete with kayaks which we had a lot of fun with. Its just a few steps from Marine Ave and the shops and restaurants of Balboa Island and about a 10 minute walk to the ferry which takes you the Balboa Peninsula and the Pacific Ocean beaches. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation on quaint Balboa Island.
The beach house was delightful - the owners had provided so many items for us to use - we really appreciated it. My only complaint is the trash. The cans were full when we arrived and we could not set them out until Wed. they were quite smelly. Then when we left they were full again for the new tenants. Possibly the cleaning people or the realty office could remove the trash on Sat. so the new tenants would have empty cans.
