If you are into a weekend/week getaway for gambling, Plainville, MA is a short drive away, as well as Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriot's. Come for history and fun, and enjoy a relaxing home.

The cottage is fully furnished with fridge, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, stove, flat screen TV with Direct TV, BBQ grill, fire pit, fishing poles, etc.

The cottage has one new window AC unit and several fans. The porch has a ceiling fan, as well. Nice relaxing, vacation spot in a quiet neighborhood.

One bedroom has a full bed, the other a twin bed and Coleman cot. Sofa and love seat in the living room with a bar table and stools. Large screened porch to camp out on, if you choose, on the hammock. The porch has chairs and a table for dining. Linens, dinnerware, towels, etc. are in the house for your use.

Smoking is allowed on the porch and in the yard - ONLY; not in the home. There are fishing poles and tackle in the shed for your use. There is no Internet, washer, or dryer on the premises. There is a laundromat in Middleboro, 10 minutes away.

Mi Casa es Su Casa. Spread out with the family for less than a hotel in the summer. Great get away for a week or weekend, but please be respectful of the property as it is a family vacation spot, too. If you didn't bring it with you, please don't take it.

About Debbie Bryant

I grew up in this area (MA) before joining the military and moving to Texas. Most of my family still resides locally, so a perfect opportunity for me to have a place to stay when I visit home.

I have since retired from the military, but still work as a civilian for the government. I take pride in offering a comfortable place for you and your family. If anything should come up, caretaker is next door, family is local and I am a call away.

Debbie Bryant purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Debbie Bryant chose Lakeville

This cottage is central to many outdoor activities. Myles Standish State Park, Plymouth and the Mayflower, boating and fishing excursions, New Bedford Whaling Museum, and 45 minutes to points on Cape Cod, and a more personal experience for families and couples than a hotel.

What makes this cottage unique

Newly painted outside, added a new Pub Table with two stools for quiet evenings at home. Large screened porch for entertaining, BBQ grill and fire pit, within steps of Long Pond, fishing, boating, and seafood in Plymouth fresh off the boats. A window AC cools the house fine in the summer months, and there are also several fans, if needed. Newly remodeled bathroom, as well as new furnace and water heater. The house is well maintained and the caretakers resides next door, if any issues should arise.

Nice place - a better alternatives than local hotels

  • 3 of 5

We needed a place to stay for a family wedding being held in the Lakeville area. We looked at the local hotels, then did a VRBO search for Lakeville and got this listing. Worked out. Good price - better then two hotel rooms for two nights. The cottage is on a side street about 200 yards from a small beach for lake access. Although we did not do a huge amount of lake time due to the wedding and family activities - Long Pond is very nice.

The cottage is well maintained. The neighbor comes in and does the housekeeping on change over day. She does a nice job and is very friendly.

A couple suggestions for the Bryants to consider - since we also own a family camp and rent it.

There is a 60 dollar charge for cleaning supplies. Can't say your neighbor really used 60 dollars worth. Although the place was clean. Plus, when we moved in, there was no toilet paper or paper towels etc. Might want to make sure those are always fully stocked. The three day minimum is kinda rigid. We only needed it two nights and left Sunday to get back to work. You could have had someone move in Sunday night for the week.

The master bed room mattress needs to be replaced. We realize this a cottage, but hey our backs do not know that - a firm mattress is always appreciated!

Aside from that, we would consider renting again, for it is in a nice location - and you can get to many nice attractions in the Lakeville area. And if you need anything from paper products to adult beverages there is great store called Savas about 2 miles away!

Owner's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, but left early. I was at the caretakers/Lakeville cottage about an hour after you left and was dropping off firewood for the pit; sorry I missed you. I apologize that there were not paper towels or TP when you arrived. It is usually well stocked, even the refrigerator with summer condiments. The folks before you were supposed to leave by 10:00am the day of your check-in, but did not vacate until 1:15pm and you checked in a little early. The $60.00 is for cleaning, washing of towels/linens, and keeping the yard maintained, although most often, it includes the TP, paper towels and trash bags (at least). I usually leave water in the fridge, as well as condiments. One tenant did not leave a stitch of anything when I arrived after their stay. Sorry, just can never tell what will be taken. I appreciate your candid review. I will be changing the lease agreement again next year. I have only had two 'flip-over' days so far, and both did not leave when they were supposed to, which caused little time for make-ready. Debbie
