Wonderful house with a dock and loons!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house. There was eight of us -- my three children and their spouses/significant others. On an isolated peninsula on White Oak Pond, surrounded by the water. There were movies for viewing on the TV but we found we had no need for media, with a screen porch and firepit, we were perfectly entertained in the evenings having quality time for the 8 of us. The lake is great, and my daughter and sons spent a lot of time kayaking around its entirety. The loons serenaded us at night and we watched them from the dock during the day. Kitchen is wonderfully stocked. And the beds are very comfortable with plenty of fans that kept us cool at night -- everyone said they slept like babies. We read, toasted marshmallows and played the Entertainment Game (a 1984 edition that was a flashback in time). I loved swimming in the lake -- very clean and warm enough. And my Son in Law fished -- we couldn't drag him away for any of our hiking ambitions. Holderness was minutes away. So access to supplies easy. Everyone loved it and are hoping we can coordinate again. One of the reviews mentions the road -- but we went up and down it many times, picking up family from the airport in Manchester and heading to White Mtns for hiking. Just drive slow and you'll be fine.

A Rustic Retreat

  • 4 of 5

Spent a great week with three families (10 persons) in this secluded rustic retreat. Plenty of room. Beautiful setting with water views of serene White Oak Pond in three directions. Quite secluded with no nearby neighbors. More fully equipped than other properties at this price point: everything you need in the kitchen, and bed linens and towels supplied. Furnishing somewhat dated, though functional. Huge fireplace came in handy during the cold evenings and many fans are provided for hot nights. Large screened porch was a great gathering point, though views of the water are partially obscured by the trees. Four kayaks and two canoes provided the means to explore the pond whose waters were often smooth as glass. Water great for swimming, and warmer than bigger bodies of water. Fishing is excellent also. Only issue is the 0.38 mile one-lane bumpy dirt driveway, whose intersection with the road is very steep. Exiting can be hazardous. Also folks with mobility issues will have problems mounting the stairs to get into the house or down to the waterside deck. Overall, a great lake house where we'd be happy to stay again.

wonderful vacation house!

  • 5 of 5

we were 11- 8 adults and three teenagers. the house was perfect as it was a comfortable fit for all. the area is beautiful, quiet and peaceful. the house is fully equipped-towels, kitchen goods, staples and play equipment. the teenagers had no wish to leave the place as the fishing, kayaking, canoeing and swimming kept them busy. and family dinners lasted long into the evenings followed by poker games at the large dining room table. we could not have asked for anything better.... it was our best family vacation and it will leave wonderful memories.

Beautiful, tranquil, and private spot

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful discovery Albiron Lodge on White Oak Pond was for us this past August. So much so that we've already arranged to go back next summer!

We have a full spectrum of ages in our family (ages 6 to 82) and everyone found much enjoyment of the loons, lakes, nearby hikes, quaint town of Holderness, and immersion in nature that surrounds this lovely, secluded house with enough room for a large family. We truly loved our week there!

White Oak Pond

  • 5 of 5

I have twice had the privilege of staying here and on both occasions the worst part was leaving.

I particularly enjoyed kayaking around Blueberry Island which is situated in the middle of White Oak Pond and getting a close-up look at the loons.

For sheer peace and relaxation, I recommend, without reservation, this most glorious place.

Owner's Response: Yes, a kayak trip around Blueberry Island offers special insights into the natural beauty of this quiet lake. Red-winged blackbirds, water lillies and perhaps an otter, a beaver or a deer. Always a loon!

Absolutely paradise!

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed at this ultimate vacation spot more than once- it is serenity and nature in its purest form! The dock and changing room, the bar-b-que, the screened deck, the classy dining room the bedrooms are just perfect in every way. It's clean and airy but, private and peaceful. I highly recommend this spot to anyone lucky enough to get a chance to spend some time in one of New Hampshire's best kept secrets. There's so many little treasure details to this spot you have to see it to believe it. Surrounded by the lake on 3 sides it's almost your own personal island with all the sounds of nature, loons, beavers and gentle wind through the pines....Great swimming, too!

Owner's Response: So glad you appreciate our little paradise too! A friend just reminded us that she loved the night skies with a canopy of millions of bright stars and almost always a shooting star blazing across the dark sky.
