A nice home in a quiet Champlain Island setting

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed this lovely home. We recently spent a week there with our extended family which consists of 6 adults and 5 children, ages 2-9. The accommodation was very comfortable and well appointed. There is a huge yard totally fenced in for the children to run and play in. They also enjoyed the beach. The water depth is very gradual and posed no problems for children of these ages. They fished off the dock and we had a quick ride out in the boat which was enjoyable. The only thing I would say is there is some sulfur smell from the well. We bought bottled water and used that for drinking but bathing and laundry was fine. We would definitely enjoy going back to this home. Deb was responsive and very easy to deal with as was John, the caretaker.

Owner's Response: This multi-generational family was a pleasure to have in my home, treating it respectfully and clearly interested in and enjoying all the Islands have to offer. I hope they will return another year.

Wonderful relaxing Lake vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family, 2 parents, 2 teenagers, spent a glorious week at this secluded lakefront home. Nestled between a quiet dirt road and beautiful Lake Champlain, with a private dock the property is perfect for relaxing. There is not much activity on the Island, but Burlington is only 50 minutes or so away. We went up to Quebec Province farm country one day, also a short drive from the house. We highly recommend this property

Owner's Response: This lovely family was a joy to have as tenants, and it is our mutual plan to have them return. Their enthusiasm and respect for the property was evident, as was their love for Vermont and Lake Champlain.

Spacious house in lovely setting, private beach

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family reunion here, with seven adults, one seven-year-old and four children under two. There was room for all in the house; the proximity to the large garden and our own beach was very special. Steps from the yard lead down to a rocky beach and dock but there was a secure gate at the top of the steps to keep small children from going to the beach alone. Someone was out fishing in the rowboat every day; our grandson caught his first fish (smallmouth Bass). We had morning coffee in the Adirondack chairs on the porch, ate dinners at the picnic table in the yard, and had bonfires in the evenings on the beach, where we watched the moon rise over Lake Champlain.

We explored the island and were fascinated by the fossils. We enjoyed a Sunday concert at Fisk Farm and a visit to St. Anne's Shrine. On a rainy day we drove into Burlington (1 hour away) and took the children to the ECHO Aquarium and Science Center. We were pleased that the house was fairly secluded and the people we did see were friendly and polite. The house is well-equipped with all that we needed, from books to cookware to life preservers for the boats. We hope to return if we can get everyone together again.

Beautiful House & Location!

  • 5 of 5

The house is exactly as described, and the price is very reasonable. Debbie, the owner, is extremely solicitous and a pleasure to deal with. The house is large and comfortable. This house faces east on Isle la Motte, so there are beautiful sunrise views. The side deck and yard are great in the afternoon to enjoy a drink and a good book while the kids play. The beach is secluded. There are food markets and ice cream shops in close proximity, as well as the state park. For the runners out there, the road on which the house sits is awesome for a morning run along the shore. We took two families (6 kids) up last year and will be returning this summer.

Owner's Response: Many of my guests over the years have been families of friends sharing the house together or three generational families enjoying a reunion. I've not had a guest who failed to love being on or in the water, including many budding young fishermen hauling in the perch or bass! The fishing is particularly good, and it is a perfect spot for canoeing or kayaking.

Relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband, children, and I vacationed in this home for a week in July 2011 . The house is very private, with no other homes in sight. We have 4 children, and there was plenty of room for all of us. The home and yard are well kept, and Deb is very helpful and accomodating! We're returning for a week this summer, and are looking forward to it!
