About the property

3 bedroom, 2.5 bath rowhome in a wondeful, quiet neighborhood, close to downtown

My home is rented full time, and as such is optimized for travelers! I am a full time host, and I take my responsibility to provide wonderful accommodations to you - VERY seriously!

This is a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath (2 full, 1/2 bath in middle floor) in a quiet, safe, family friendly neighborhood. The house includes two flat screen TVs (46' and 36') and has Verizon Fios TV and 50/25 (very fast!) wireless internet. One King sized bed, one full sized bed, and then the third BR includes a Twin size bed, with a pull-out twin sized trundle. Additional beds are provided via Queen/Twin sized air mattresses (provided!) The space would be most comfortable for groups up to 8, but if you are willing too, the space can accomodate up to 11 people, with 5 people staying on air mattresses.

I also have a Keurig, and all the free coffee you could want/need! Plentiful/free/unrestricted street parking is available. Samsung washer and dryer included in laundry closet of off kitchen. My deck also has a 300 square foot deck on the rear of the home, with a grill and chairs. Perfect for unwinding and relaxing after a long day touring the city!

I am located 1.1 miles from the Georgia Ave-Petworth Metro Station, and a one seat ride to everything that the city has to offer! I will do everything in my power to make your stay wonderful, and am happy to accommodate any special requests!

There are some terrific food options near my home, and I will be happy to help you discover these options!

Guest Access

You will have access to the entire home, including kitchen, all bathrooms, toiletries, and anything else needed to have a wonderful stay! There will be no other occupants of the home outside of your group during your stay.

I provide a unique code to the deadbolt prior to your arrival, so late arrivals are no problem. You simply come to the front door, enter the code, and gain access!

Interaction with Guests

I have an electronic deadbolt - you will be sent a unique to you code prior to your arrival. I may be there when you arrive (depending on time and schedule) Otherwise, the house is yours! I am available by cell phone or e-mail, and promptly answer any and all questions.

The Neighborhood

Petworth is a beautiful neighborhood, with row homes built in the 1920's. Many of my neighbors have been in their homes for 30+ years, and the neighborhood has a small town feel to it, with neighbors saying hello to each other and walking over to chat with each other on their porch.

Getting around

It is easiest to visit my home if you have access to a car, but with some planning it's also possible to use public transportation to visit downtown/national mall.

Car: Enjoy a spot in myprivate driveway or free, unzoned street parking.

Metro: I am located 1 mile from the Georgia Ave/Petworth metro station (green/yellow lines) or the Fort Totten metro station (red, green/yellow lines). Each of these stations is about a 20-25 minute walk from the apartment. For those who don't want to walk, the Fort Totten metro has $4.50 all-day parking available (free on weekends). The Petworth-Georgia Ave metro can also be accessed with a 10-minute bus ride.

Bus: I am located 2 blocks from several bus lines that go into the downtown area. During rush hour these buses can take a long time to get downtown, so I don't recommend taking them if you're traveling at those times!

Bike: I am located about 4 blocks from a Capital Bikeshare dock.

Taxi: Taking a taxi can be an economical way to access the apartment, especially if you're traveling in a group. Taxis from downtown will cost about $15-$25, depending on where you're traveling from. I often take the metro downtown and then come home in a taxi.

Other Things to Note

Just as an additional bonus, this house has solar panels on the roof, so you are doing good by staying here! Back-up power from the power grid of course, but most power is generated on the roof!

About Kyle WardDahl

I am a normal, 27 year old male who enjoys traveling and spending time at my parents house on the river. I love Washington, D.C. and hope you enjoy your time in our nations capital!

I am a very conscientious host, and really do go out of my way to make sure that my house can be a home to you while you are travelling!

Kyle WardDahl purchased this townhome in 2010

Why Kyle WardDahl chose Washington DC

My home was renovated from top to bottom in Fall '13/Winter '14. I spared no expense in this renovation, and couldn't be happier with the end result. The renovation included a top of the line gourmet eat-in kitchen with high-end appliances and finishes, as well as beautiful granite and plenty of cabinet space! A half bath and laundry room was also added on the first floor, and expanding the living room area to create an amazing entertaining space!

Upstairs includes an amazing master bedroom/bath, with a double faucet shower, and 72' his and her vanity. This is an amazing space that will please all travelers!

What makes this townhome unique

I run this property by myself, and use the same cleaner EVERY time to turn over the property. We have become incredibly good at this, and I go above and beyond to make each stay incredible for ALL of my guests. From providing free unlimited coffee, to regularly replacing towels, linens, and ensuring that all kitchenware and accessories are provided, I make your stay incredibly easy. Just bring your luggage and groceries (if you want to cook!), I provide the rest!

Good Stay

House is very nice inside and clean. Everything we needed was there for us. Back deck and grill area was also a great addition. The neighborhood is a little sketchy, but probably as good as you can get if you want to stay close to everything.

Beautiful Home, Quiet Neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

We arrived on Sunday afternoon and found the home to be clean, spacious and stocked with everything we'd need over our two day stay. We enjoyed dinner on the back deck. There was enough comfortable seating for all of us on the large sectional couch. The bedrooms were comfortable and stocked with a variety of soaps and shampoos, which was very nice! The large shower in the master bedroom was wonderful!

The home is centrally located near downtown and nearby shopping.

We'd definitely stay here again should the need arise.

DC visit...first time for us and our German visitors

  • 5 of 5

House was very comfortable and clean in a quiet neighborhood. We did not rent cars on our visit but instead utilized Uber rather than public transport. Worked great for us and Kyle was a great host.

Great house and neighbourhood

  • 5 of 5

First things first - the guest package that we received before we travelled is the most comprehensive we have ever had. Kyle always responded quickly to any email or query and it made the booking and arrival process really easy - there were no issues at all and the description of the property etc was exactly what we found. Kyle was an excellent host.

The property is well equipped and easily big enough (3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms) for our family of 4. It was comfortable and the air conditioning was appreciated as the summer temperatures in Washington can be very hot and humid. The coffee was appreciated and well used!

The neighbours were very friendly and the shops etc close by. We settled in quickly and enjoyed the stay.

Washington is a few miles away and we found that travelling by metro from Fort Totten was the best way into the city. That was very easy to reach from the house and three lines are served from there so everything we wanted to visit was straightforward.

Most of the attractions in Washington are free so, apart from food, we found that it was actually quite a cheap place to visit. There are loads of things to do but there can be fair walks between each attraction which needs to be taken into consideration especially given the weather.

Overall the house is highly recommended.

Kyle's home had all the comforts of what you would want in a house of your own.

  • 5 of 5

Overall I would rate this a wonderful home away from home. It was close enuf to downtown DC so that you could either take your car downtown or go to the metro and ride that. It was wonderful coming home after a very HOT day in downtown to a wonderfully cool house where you could relax and either cook a dinner or order take out. Kyle's suggestions were excellent. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting DC.
