I've been coming to Pawleys Island ever since I was a child and have a deep connection to the area. We purchased this beach house after getting married at Brookgreen Gardens and enjoy sharing our home with both new and seasoned Pawleys Island visitors.
Anna purchased this house in 2013
Perfectly placed between the beach and the creek, this home has been lovingly owned by the same family for 60 years before we purchased it in 2013. The home is a great blend of traditional Pawleys Island and modern comforts/updates.
This home is so close to the beach you can walk right across and be on the sand in 150 steps. With long covered porches, the home is perfect for lounging on the hammock in the shade and enjoying the sea breeze while surrounded by palm trees from the large yard.
Our family group of 6 enjoyed our stay at Gardenia cottage over the New Years weekend. The layout of the house is a little unusual, with one bedroom (plus a bonus sleeping area and laundry room) downstairs with the 3 remaining bedrooms, plus living areas upstairs. This worked out well for our group, as our adult kids appreciated the privacy of their own downstairs space, but the external stairways were a little chilly in late December! The location mid-way between the beach and creek was great. The younger tween kids could take themselves to the beach and we didn't have to carry our rented kayaks far to get to the creek. Beds were comfortable and the house was plenty warm despite the cool weather. I am jealous of the brand new laundry machines -- better than I have at home!
This is a perfect beach house! We loved it!
We will definitely stay here again!
We had a fantastic girls trip! Looking forward to next year !!!!
The house is in a great location on the north end of the Island. Great spacious top and bottom deck. There is a nice uncovered sun deck off the back as well if you feel like getting some sun, but not walking to the beach. The bedrooms are a great size and the kitchen has all the size you need for a good size host of people. The owner of the property was very helpful and was willing and prompt in answering any questions I had! I would highly recommend the property.
We had the best time at Gardenia! Laying on the hammock on the wraparound porch, listening to the waves was a little slice of heaven. The location is fabulous, my boys went down to the creek when they woke up and went fishing in their pajamas, and when we hit the beach it was convenient being such a short walk back to the house. Pawley's is a special place, and this house is the perfect home for any family wanting to enjoy the island. There is so much space, it's fully stocked with more pillows and towels and appliances and such - never been to a rental with more at your fingertips. I hosted my entire family (also staying locally) for a sit down dinner for 10 on that fabulous porch, and it was just as easy as if it was at my own house. Recommended for a quiet getaway, and absolutely perfect for families.
This little jewel is wonderful! What a cozy little place and so convenient.
We did a girls' mini vacation and stayed here for 5 nights. The Gardenia cottage had everything we needed.
The beds were all very comfortable. All linens were supplied and were clean and neat. We slept with the windows open at night - there was a nice breeze and the temps were perfect.
We spent most of our time on the porch - very spacious with a nice table and comfortable chairs. It was a great place to sip coffee in the morning and have a glass of wine in the evening. We could see the canal from the porch and the sunset sky was lovely.
The kitchen had everything you needed. We did a seafood boil one night and had all the cooking utensils required right there. The refrigerator has a glitchy door so be sure to close it tightly or it will stay ever so slightly ajar. And bring a good bread knife - there didn't appear to be one there.
The separate room downstairs was perfect for our friend who goes to bed early... we could stay up and chat while she slept soundly below.
The beach was just a short walk across the road. Pawleys is very quiet so no worries about traffic. We could hear the waves from the cottage.
The location is convenient to several nice restaurants - we tried the Chive Blossom and the Rustic Table - would highly recommend both.
All in all a great location!!
I'm always concerned about a rental living up to expectations, but this one really did! It's location (one block from the beach) was convenient, the screened porch was perfect, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was nicely set up with all the right conveniences. Anna also provided helpful information to take advantage of activities while we were there. I can happily say "a good time was had by all"!
