Overview

About the property

2 bedroom, 1 bath. Peaceful sunrise view. Sleeps 4-6

If you love to cook our totally redone cottage has a gourmet kitchen, complete with double oven and full spice rack along with a weber gas grill and charcoal grill outside. There are two bedrooms with full size beds and a brand new queen, sleep sofa in the living room; however, my opinion is... you still need to be a little adventerous if you plan on sleeping on it for more than a few nights. There is also a walk out deck along with a dock to put your boat.

About Jimmy Gaudiosi

We have six children between the ages of 17 and 25. We wanted to have a place for everyone to go and all have fun and knew we wanted a place on the water. When driving around Highland Lake we were impressed and felt it was the best place to be. We looked at this property and instantly knew it was for us. It started out being a sweet grandmothers cottage that we planned on doing just a few minor renovations to. Once we got started it turned into a total remodel. The outside is very deceiving and we're sure you will be pleasantly surprised by the inside. .

Jimmy Gaudiosi purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Jimmy Gaudiosi chose Winsted

Our little cottage has most of the amenities of home in a vacation atmosphere which is why this is the place for us. The first time we actually stayed in the cottage, after renovation, the day started by sitting peacefully out on the deck sipping coffee. We watched as the mist drifted across the water just before the sun fully rose to chase it away. And the days only got better from that moment on....

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is located only a short distance to local restuarants, diners, a grocery store, cinema and antique shops.

Loved the lake and location

  • 5 of 5

This little house had everything necessary for a great long weekend. Perfect location on the lake. Kayaked and enjoyed late afternoon cocktails by the water.

Quaint Cottage for a quiet gettaway.

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and I were able to book this cottage for a brief respite while in town for a family wedding. The house is located close to a cute little Main Street where we found everything we needed to get through the weekend. Although the pictures are accurate to the actual accommodations, we were pleasantly surprised at the stunning view and tranquil surroundings. Our main goal for the weekend was to go hiking which we throughly enjoyed at nearby people's state park (moderate level hike). Other then that we were happy to relax on their awesome deck and watch the occasional waterskiier go by!

The actual cottage was more then sufficient and charmingly decorated. We found everything we needed and more. Looking forward to a possible return in the future.

Exactly what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

The only bad part of our stay was that we had to leave! My wife and I spent the weekend for our 5th anniversary and this place was exactly what we were looking for. The pictures are pretty but they do not to any justice to how well this property is maintained. It is completely remodeled and has everything you could ever need to enjoy your stay on a very beautiful lake. The weather was perfect and the house had every amenity we needed. The area is nice as well; the wife and I found a great little Mexican place in the "downtown area" as well as a breakfast place. Both were small, quaint, and had great food. On the night we cooked in, the kitchen had everything and more than we needed. The dock, deck, and outside area are perfectly maintained and in great shape. We had no issues bringing our boat, as the dock has good depth and is in a great location. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone, and we will certainly look to make this an every year destination.

Perfect weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the lake to celebrate my husband’s birthday. He is an avid fisherman and this location was everything we wanted. Debbie (the owner) is wonderful to deal with and super easy going and ensured that our stay was pleasant.

It is a lovely cottage in a beautiful area of the state. It’s comfortable, clean and very cozy. We felt at home the moment we got there. The kitchen is wonderful and Debbie even left some water and beer in the fridge and encouraged us to help ourselves to other items in the house. You really don’t have to pack much - the cottage was stocked with all the household items we needed. Every small detail was certainly thought out to make you feel as though you're at home while you're there.

Within 30 minutes of our arrival my husband was on the private dock fishing and caught 2 fish. Our good luck continued as we went on to enjoy a weekend filled with fishing and some incredible sunsets. The lake was so beautiful and at one point, the fish were literally jumping out of the water! I guess trout do that during certain times of the year. It was amazing!

I highly recommend choosing this place for your getaway destination- you will not regret it! We have already recommended it to several of our friends and we will certainly be back again next year. Thanks so much Debbie for letting us use your place.

Paradise on Highland Lake

  • 5 of 5

This cottage couldn't be more lovely. Although small in size it was huge in amenities and you never felt that there wasn't enough room. Everything that could be thought of was. The view was lovely and the area quiet. Thank you Debbie and Jim for sharing.
