Welcome to SeaGlass Cottage in East Boothbay! Nestled between a steep hillside and the edge of the Linekin Bay, at SeaGlass you will be surrounded by stunning beauty and immersed in nature. Set on Perch Cove, which is renowned as a striped bass fishing hot spot, the cottage faces west and you will enjoy stunning sunsets right from your bay window. There are panoramic views throughout and you will be sure to see many boats, Osprey, loons and a seal or two.
There is an incredible 200' long deep water dock with a large sundeck and sitting area that has a swim ladder, and can accommodate anything from a kayak to a 25 foot boat. At low tide there is a large 250' private rocky beach area (this area is underwater at high tide...so please don't think white sandy beach), that is great for beach combing, digging for clams or catching crabs. Bring your water shoes!
The cottage itself loaded with charm and filled with nooks and crannies. It features an open floorplan with high pitched exposed beam ceilings, and is covered in wainscotting. SeaGlass was professionally decorated and features high quality linens, including down bedding and soft towels. There is also fast high speed internet, WIFI and a 32' HD TV. The main bedroom, on the second floor, is open to the first floor and is accessed by a small spiral staircase. It has beautiful pumpkin pine floors, a high pitched ceiling and great water views. The second bedroom is accessed by a ladder and is a small sleeping loft. It has a queen bed and two small dressers. There is also a screened-in porch which provides another cozy spot to read a book or surf the web.
This location provides an incredibly peaceful retreat to get away from it all and relax, surrounded by some of the most beautiful views anywhere. But, if you are looking for more action, it is only 4 miles to Boothbay Harbor, which is home to many fine dining and casual restaurants, shops and galleries. It is only 3 miles to the popular Ocean Point where you can relax on the rocks and take in the breathtaking views. One of the areas most scenic hiking trails, The Linekin Preserve, is only 2/10ths of a mile away. Also nearby is the Boothbay Country Club, the Maine Botanical Gardens, and numerous boat excursions including whale watches, schooners tours and trips to Monhegan Island and Ram Island Light House. It is also a great home base for daytrips, with much of the mid-coast's favorite attractions within an hour's drive.
**Access - The setting for the cottage is stunning and unique. It is literally built on a rocky ledge at the bottom of a steep cliff, and sits right beside the edge of the bay, but there is no way to drive a car down to it. So guests park up by the owner's property and walk down a more gradual, grassy slope that goes around the steeper part of the hill. The total walk is about 75 yards long. We have a couple of carts to assist with luggage and supplies. For this reason, the cottage would not be suitable for those with mobility issues would be.
**The bathroom is very small, has a small door and has a shower only. The shower is larger than a typical camp shower but has a low ceiling. It may be uncomfortable for those over 6'3". There is an outdoor shower but there is not privacy provided for it.
** Both bedrooms are open lofts so there is very little privacy. The master is accessed by a spiral staircase. The second bedroom is a sleeping loft accessed by a ladder
**The setting may also be inappropriate for young children, due to some steep drop offs.
**Parking is limited and there is no room for RV's large trucks or trailers. It will fit up to 2 regular sized cars but is better suited for 1
**The large dock, known locally as 'Daddy Long Legs' is also home to our personal motor boat. Although, we will occasionally walk by the cottage to access the boat, we consider the dock and the area surrounding the cottage to be your private space and spend no additional time there at all. If we are to pass by we will notify you in advance.
* We accept boats up to 25' at the dock. The water is approximately 4' deep at the very lowest low tide and about 5' at a typical low tide. There are no moorings available for guest's use.
This property is managed by Chill Vacation Rentals. We hand pick our properties to ensure only the highest quality. All are high-end waterfront cottages that have down bedding and great linens. Our cleaning standards are second to none.
Growing up in Ct, I spent alot of time vacationing in Maine and always wanted a home here. I absolutely love the area and am so happy to share this beautiful part of the country with my guests.
Pam Cunningham purchased this cottage in 2013
I love the peace, serenity, and the interaction with nature. There is an osprey nest on Perch Island, and many types of ducks, gulls and birds that feed here. The tides are amazing and the view changes constantly. The sunsets are absolutely breathtaking and the only other houses you see are across the water. I also like the fact that the waters of the bay are very functional and usable. One can boat, fish, swim and kayak. The dock is huge!
The dock here is really like a pier. It juts out into the middle of the cove to the deepwater, so we don't have to worry about timing the tides for boating kayaking or swimming. The views are just spectacular!
We have had a wonderful stay at your Seaglass cottage this past week. What a great time to be in Maine. 😎
The cottage was wonderfully equipped and a delightful space to enjoy the harbor view and fall leaves. Pam and Kelly have given a lot of thought in how to make the cottage comfortable and pleasant for their guests. The cottage has everything you need. Just be mindful that you will have to get your suitcase up the winding staircase.
: ) Once settled, we had a fabulous vacation!
The property was just amazing - views from every window. The owners have put a lot of thought and attention into each and every detail. It was a delightful stay and we will certainly return.
My husband and I stayed at Seaglass Cottage for a week in August, and were so glad we chose this adorable little place! The cottage is very well laid-out, with amazing attention to detail. It is bright and cheerful, as opposed to some traditional Maine cottages, which can be a little dark and dreary. The property gets lots of nice sunlight. It sits very close to the water, so you can watch the many moods of the water and be entertained by the antics of the seagulls.
I am an artist and did quite a bit of painting there. The property itself has plenty of subject matter for painting. You are surrounded by a classic Maine environment, with rock outcroppings covered in their own natural "rock garden" of lichens, mosses, ferns, and tiny wild flowers. Lobster boats and sailboats go by in front of you, and the sunsets are incredible. As the tide goes out, interesting rock forms and tidal flats appear, making the landscape even more interesting.
The house itself would be best for a couple with one or two kids. It is small, so four adults would be a tight fit, around the kitchen and bathroom especially. Otherwise, there are plenty of places to sit and have some privacy. The loft bedroom with the ladder could be used by adults, since the ladder is very stable and easy to climb, but kids would fit better into that space. Walking up and down the grassy slope is not too bad, although you may be a little winded when you get to the top. We are 65 and 68, and I have a little arthritis, but is was OK. The slope is very well maintained and well lighted.
The owner is a very nice person, and very responsible. She kept just the right balance between talking with us and leaving us alone. The cottage and even the dock are very private and cannot be seen from the main house. We hope to stay at Seaglass again some day.
We brought our canoe and found the water not too rough for canoeing. We brought bikes too, but the roads there are too hilly and windy to use them--it would be dangerous. My favorite spot nearby is Ocean Point, especially for photography and acquiring material for painting. East Boothbay is a beautiful, quaint town. We hiked the 3.5 mile Linekin Preserve Trail, which starts about a quarter mile east of the cottage. It is a slightly hilly hike, with not much view of the water, and I have never seen so many tree roots!
All in all, I highly recommend this cottage!
The Sea Glass Cottage is cozy and relaxing seaside retreat and a sort drive to Boothbay Habor. Pam and Kelly are great hosts and have outfitted the cottage with everything one may need for a lovely stay. Pictures and review are very accurate and you will not be disappointed with this gorgeous spot!!!!!!
This was our 3rd stay at SeaGlass Cottage, June 2014, 15 & 16. We love the location and always want to stay longer. Pam & Kelly are great and the cottage is cozy and relaxing. We love it and will be back in June 2017, a perfect vacation. Paul & Debbie
Seaglass Cottage was the perfect place for my husband and I to spend our 3rd anniversary. The property was very cozy with everything we needed for our stay on the Maine coast. Everything was clean and comfortable, right down to the awesome bed linens (the best linens we've ever had at a rental property!). Pam and Kelly were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome.
The view of the harbor is breathtaking, and there are lots of nice outdoor spots for you to enjoy it, including a huge dock and a nice table on the porch. If you have to be inside, there are tons of windows from which to enjoy the ocean and wildlife. We spent almost every night reading in the screen porch.
The cottage is a short drive to Boothbay Harbor and is also convenient to lots of other great spots on the coast, including Portland, Freeport, and Bath. If you're looking for a wonderful place to get away, you won't be disappointed with this gorgeous spot.
Seaglass Cottage is a peaceful retreat surrounded by water and nature, yet is only 4 miles from all of the action in Boothbay Harbor. The location is also a great home base for daytrips. Within an hour are Camden, Rockland, the Pemaquid Penninsula, Freeport and many beaches and lighthouses. We are also about halfway between Boston and Bar Harbor.
