Having lived in Santa Fe for five years full time, my husband and I still visit frequently and were thrilled to be able to purchase Casa de Alma. Although we live in Texas we are able to manage our property with the help of trusted caregivers.
Virginia Hughes purchased this house in 2013
This prestigious area of Santa Fe is close to Canyon Road and the Plaza, within walking distance of both. Additionally the historic East Side is a wonderful area to walk and view the architecturally significant homes in the area. Leafy and an easy walk, the nearby Acequia Madre is a beautiful walking area. Located on a quiet dead-end street, Casa de Alma is the perfect getaway in Santa Fe.
We've stayed in 20+ vacation rentals and this is one of the best - we would definitely return! Virginia was very friendly. The location is super convenient, maybe 5-10 min to the Plaza. We were three couples traveling with toddlers in tow and the space was great for us. The decor is very authentic and offers a true sense of place, definitely a luxury feel. Loved the wood beams, kiva fireplace, and antique door headboard in the master. The enclosed outdoor patio was a popular spot for the toddlers to run around. The things that could be improved would be adding a wifi extender to enable a strong signal throughout the home (it was hard to get a strong signal outside the kitchen) and perhaps replacing the tube TV with a more modern model. We also went to the ABQ balloon fiesta one day (which was awesome) and it was relatively easy ~1hr each way. 10am felt a little early for check out, but there was another party arriving later that afternoon and it takes 6-8 hours to turnover. Best restaurants were The Pantry, Maria's, and Pasqual's. Intl Folk Art Museum and the Plaza were also highlights.
Our family of 5 plus a friend (that's 4 teenagers!) had the pleasure of staying at this lovely property for spring break. It is a true slice of Santa Fe - beautifully decorated and lovingly cared for, down to the tiniest detail. Little things like an abundance of thick, designer towels in each bathroom, incredibly comfortable beds and gorgeous light pouring through the windows and skylights. It was spacious yet cozy, and the location was excellent. Will definitely stay here again! We usually stay at the Inn at Loretto, and this was much more luxurious at a better price!
Our family of four and grandmother spent a week at Casa de Alma. It was a fabulous set-up for us; the home is beautifully designed, in a lovely neighborhood, and provides for easy walking to Canyon Road and beyond. The home is well maintained and we were all very comfortable. It was a long-time dream of grandmother's to visit Santa Fe and Casa de Alma provided us with the perfect home base as we explored the city and other New Mexico sites.
Amazing home in Santa Fe! Casa de Alma is a fantastic place to stay with your family and friends. This is our second time staying at Casa de Alma- just as wonderful the second time around.
There is plenty of space inside and outside of the home for kids and family to enjoy. The location is ideal, a few blocks off Canyon Road and a quick drive or walk to the plaza. The house was a perfect place to relax after a long day skiing. We ordered great food and sat by the fire. The owners have an amazing eye for detail creating a truly Santa Fe style stay. They have a wonderful book of suggestions and information for local attractions as well as a collection of Santa Fe and NM guidebooks to help you plan your days.
We walked to Canyon Road and then on to the Plaza one morning spending the day at the museums, shops and restaurants. It was a memorable vacation made even better by our stay at Casa De Alma. We look forward to returning next year!!
Casa De Alma is a beautiful luxury home with old world charm in a great location. This home has all the modern conveniences with the character of an old world adobe structure. It is in an upscale neighborhood within walking distance to all the best shopping and restaurants. A short stroll to Canyon, and convenient to everything. The house is gorgeous, decorated beautifully. Very comfortable, and relaxing. Loved the kiva fireplace and large well appointed kitchen. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Santa Fe.
Had a wonderful 5 day stay for a ski vacation with kids. Beautifully decorated and convenient to both downtown and historic Canyon Road. Property was well maintained and had every comfort of home. Worth every penny!
