Thank you for considering Fox Cottage,
This lovely new cape is set on a tranquil wooded lot, offering privacy and a great central location on Mount Desert Island. Equidistant to the villages of Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor, the hiking trails of Acadia National Park are only minutes away, as is fresh water swimming on Long Pond or Echo Lake. Just stepping out the front door is a treat, an open lawn area out front with a grill is perfect for picnics, while the cedar and pine forest out back invite exploration. Built in 2009, this nice clean house features all new furniture and appliances, and a modern, well-equipped kitchen. Direct TV and wireless internet are provided. For sleeping accommodations there are four bedrooms, with one king, two queen and two twin size beds. We have added Air-conditioning upstairs and downstairs this summer to add to the relaxing comfort of the house .
We gladly welcome pets.
Jim & Marilyn.
We recently spent four days in the Fox house. It was easy to find. Their home is situated on a secluded, peaceful property. All the linens, towels, dishes, pots, pans, BBQ grill and a lobster pot that you could possibly need are provided. There were eight of us, and we had enough of room to spread out and relax. The house is clean and well-maintained. The owners were very friendly. The house worked very well for us.
We spent 5 days on Mt Desert Island & enjoyed every minute of it. We were 6 adults & one child. We had plenty of room in the house. Well stocked with pots & pans. We enjoyed using the fire pit. The owner, Jim, responds quickly via email. We hiked in Acadia, visited Bar Harbor, & the other harbors. Definitely try Trenton Bridge Lobster while you're there!
Our family (2 adults, 3 kids, dog) had a wonderful Acadia vacation at this large house. Tasteful decor, kitchenware, furniture. Very clean with a great layout. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Loved the large open front yard which was great for the kids and dog to run around and for stargazing! Enjoyed roasting marshmallows over the firepit and grilling on their gas grill. The property was private and quiet with tall trees around the perimeter which was great for relaxing and getting away from other people. They also had a foosball table, books, and games for indoor entertainment. Drive to/from Acadia was about 20-30 min depending on which part of park you are going to. We will definitely look into renting this property again when we come back to Acadia. Thank you Fox Cottage!
Overall I would rate this rental an A+. The owner was very pleasant to work with and had very good communication. The property was set off the road so you had room to play outside in the front lawn without being worried of kids playing and cars being close. The house itself was very clean and spacious. Plenty of dishes. The only thing which could be an added bonus is a couple more large pans to cook dinner with. The appliances were new and all in excellent working order. There was a nice grill out back and a fire pit for campfires out front. We brought our kayaks and were very happy we could store them in the large garage when we were not using them. As for the location we were easily able to get to all Acadia has to offer and more with great ease. We could not have been happier with our stay. Our family would definitely recommend this rental and would love to come back and stay there again.
Our family stayed at this home from Sunday, July 24, 2016, through Friday, July 29. We had 6 adults and 2 children in our party, and the accommodations fit our needs perfectly. This was our first experience using VRBO, and we were quite pleased with the process and results. The weather during our visit was really hot and humid, so the air conditioners at the home were much appreciated. The house was very clean, and we had enough towels for our many showers. We ate most of our breakfasts and suppers at the house, and the kitchen was supplied with all the equipment we needed including a dishwasher. This was our first vist to Mt. Desert Island, and we liked being on the quietside of the island away from all the crowds and traffic in Bar Harbor. There is so much to do and see on the island and in the park that we will have to make another trip to see and experience more. Mr. Fox returned our cleaning deposit before we even got home. He was very accommodating.
We were 4 guys at this house. We each had our own bedroom. There was lots of room. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was large and fully applianced with lots of silverware, cups, dishes, etc. There is a washer & dryer upstairs that we didn't use. The house was in excellent condition throughout and was spotlessly clean. Very quiet setting - we all slept like logs. Not too far to get to Bar Harbor or Southwest Harbor. Nice TV - ask the owner for the DirecTV password so you can access more than just the most basic channels. Nice yard, too...we kicked a soccer ball around one day. I highly recommend this accommodation.
Jim's house is clean, spacious and well equipped. We stayed there for a week and had a great time. The house is about 25 minutes from the park. It's quite and perfect for relaxing after an active day. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.
This is the second time we came to Acadia. It offers so many activities, such as hiking, biking, and kayaking.
Plenty of forest and wildlife. Walking distance from trails of Acadia National Park. Cadillac Mountain is a 15 minute drive.
