The close proximity to beach access made it very easy to go to the beach. The Decks outside were well shaded and very comfortable. Plenty of privacy.
We've been coming to Isle of Palms for 15 plus years and have stayed in Wild Dunes many times. Upon arriving I appreciated the tip from another review about entering the 2nd Pelican Bay, as we did not and then I remembered its the next one so we didn't drive around to much longer to find the house. This house was a great place for 2 families with 4 children! We did miss seeing and hearing the ocean every morning, but that was just a 3-5 min walk. The pool was about a 8 min walk. The house was beautiful and met all of our needs for the week we stayed there. There are grilling utensils just have to look hard for them as we didn't find them until we used the grill. Wild Dunes is a gated area which is a huge bonus as the beaches are not packed nor are all of the bike and walk paths. We rented bikes this year as that was a first and it was great to have the bikes delivered (before we even arrived at the house) and picked up. We even called to change out a bike for a bigger one and it was done with an hour or so, great service IOP Beach Chair! I truly can't say enough about this house or Wild Dunes! If i had to rate anything low it would be the screened door, the screen was broke out so didn't keep the bugs away, but I know this area and always bring bug spray. On another note do not miss out on all the WONDERFUL places to dine while in IOP, Sullivan's Island and Charleston! See you next year, just on the beach!
The house was great will be going back soon and the food downtown great to. Would love to live there.
Wonderful house! We enjoyed one week. Great view, very clean, great porch, beach nearby. Wonderful space for 4 adults and 3 kids. We would recommend it to every one.
My family stayed here for a week and I will be back soon. The house was simply perfect! Great views of the lake, extremely close to beach, wonderful ping pong table and shower on ground level and plenty of room for the six of us. One tip, there are two Pelican Bay's. This house is in the second one, so if you find the first one, keep going it's the next road on the left. And early risers will be treated to magnificent sunrises and wonderful shells!
It was our first time in Wild Dunes so we weren't sure what to expect. The gated community is gorgeous. Beautiful trees, very well maintained road ways and bike paths. We rarely used our car, biking or walking to the beach/pool/out to eat. We are an active family so a 15-20 minute bike ride was right up our alley. The bike trails are very flat and even the grandparents biked around town.
The house was perfect for our needs (family of four plus two grandparents). Plenty of sleep options with the bunk bed and trundle beds upstairs. We also LOVED the addition of the outdoor shower. There's actually a few rinsing options under the house so no wait even with a large group to get the sand off before you go inside. The screened porches and deck out back were lovely. Peaceful lagoon view. Grandpa raved about the outdoor grill(although couldn't find any grilling tools in the kitchen - perhaps they have added some since our stay.) Need at least a pair of flip flops out on the back deck as the wood has some splintering but that didn't stop our fun. The porch off the dining area is adorable. Nicely decorated with a cute little nest chair we were all "fighting" over.
The walk to the beach is very reasonable. We preferred to go to the beach access on the right as there's a ramp which made it easier with all of our "stuff". Nice sandbars, beautiful sand - very clean and family friendly beach. The pool is a short bike ride or 5 minute walk away. Never got too crowded during our stay and again everyone there was sweet. Bathroom could use a little cleaning but overall the pool served its purpose.
We had a great stay. The home is very nicely decorated. The neighborhood is quiet and pretty.
Beachside vacation was wonderful to work with keeping us informed and up to date throughout the vacation. They also greeted the family with buckets and pails for our kids which was a nice touch. We have interacted with a few other rental groups in IOP and Beachside is by far the best.
We have been staying in Wild Dunes for many years now. This was the worst place we have stayed at. Paid to much for this house. We love Wild Dune but this house was nasty! We could not believe we spent this much on a house that had over 26 bugs in in. We were told the bugs we were finding were the state bug. A little bigger then a cockroach and looked just like them. I am luck that my wife is ok with bugs but this was just to much. If it was not for not wanting to deal with getting a different house we would have left and demanded out money back. But figured we would sit it out. Wish we did not because ever morning there were more bugs! Everything was dirty and spider webs everywhere. Looked like it was not cleaned for 3 months. Again we love Wild Dunes. We visit twice a year. I would not recommend this house to anyone unless they clean it before customers visit. Great location but nasty and dirty house. Sorry.
