We love the wine country and Sonoma in particular. Our Sonoma home provides us with the life we enjoy when we are not at home in Milwaukee.
The Owner purchased this house in 2006
We love Sonoma, wine, and living and the San Francisco Bay area.
Relax and enjoy the good life while being close to everything if you ever want to leave the property.
This was our second stay at this marvelous country estate. Feels so much like being transported to Tuscany! We love, love, love the multiple, beautiful and enjoyable gathering places around the property. We love feeling like we are a guest, not a renter. The beauty of the furnishings and the setting combine to make this a home I want to return to again and again.
Thank you so much for sharing this special place with us!

My family stayed at the home while in Sonoma for our son's wedding. The house could not have been more perfect for our needs with great indoor space, lovely places to gather by the pool, and the many outdoor seating areas around the house. Everything was clean, comfortable and in good shape. The rental manager and the homeowner were very helpful in answering my emails ahead of the visit. When we arrived, the AC kept resetting because apparently the renters before us did not know how to work the simple thermostat and had mistakenly set multiple programs on it. The owner and manager were immediately responsive and addressed this small problem right away. I have seen the two reviews before this one and really do not understand what those people are talking about. Although I would agree that the outdoor space has too many levels to make it a good fit or small children. I wish I owned this property! It is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. We all loved the wild turkeys that gathered at the foot of the hill each morning, the deer grazing outside the fence, and the cattle in the field next door. The house is only a short drive to everything local, and also convenient to both the Napa and Sonoma wine regions. We walked to the square one day--while not a really short walk, it was not terribly far, and it was a fun walk. I would love to stay here again and hope to do so!
I wish I had read the review before us. But it was posted after we were there. This is a great house and property. It was good for adults, lots of room, outside grounds beautiful, inside nice, seemed clean. On the other hand many windows and screens need to be fixed. We had a mosquito and spider problems which could have been taken care of. The outside area needs some TLC. decks, railing, awnings all need good power washing. The railing going to the pool needs sanding couple of people got splinters, chairs with cushions in the pool area had spiders under them I got bit. The lighting going down front steps either isn't working correctly or the light bulbs need to be replaced. My friend didn't see the last step because the light wasn't working and she fell on her knees and elbow. We BBQ and did all our dinners, the patio off the kitchen is nice but the old wood table and chairs are falling apart and need to be replaced or burned. We have rented many places in California, USA, and Europe. This was our most expensive rental, for the price it needs repair, such a shame it's not taken better taken care of. The property, gardens, landscaping gets more care.
My husband and I got married in Sonoma and come back for an annual trip. We wanted to stay near town this time and so we chose this property.
- close to town
- really big house, it's probably the biggest we have stayed at in Sonoma
- the pool and hot tub are well kept
- nice appliances and a lot of places to sit outdoors to eat dinner
- nice beds, sheets, blankets. Everything is very comfortable
- we had to call the owner twice upon her request. The first time she let us know that the house had mice problems and that there would be an exterminator coming in the day after we arrived (note: I didn't see any mice but I did see some traps hidden). She cancelled the exterminator and I asked that we not have to wait around for him during our vacation. The second time Cathy voiced her concerns about having young children in the house. I understand the concern however we were already there and had stated very clearly in our initial inquiry that we would have toddlers in the home. It should not have been a surprise
- the home is a little more dated than I thought it would be per the photos. The guest cottage was rather small, a little musty smelling and wasn't as nice as the rest of the house
- owner deducted $100 from our security deposit claiming we left the home messy. We have rented many homes and have never had this feedback. We own rental properties so we make a point of respecting the rules of the home
- safety was a minor concern. There are many doors and windows on the first floor. Not all the windows lock shut (ie sliding window in front of the sink of the kitchen) so this was a little bothersome. There is a gate at the front which helps
We have stayed at some amazing properties in Sonoma and we have never written a negative review until now. My advice is if you have children, definitely do not consider this property. It's a nice place to stay if you don't mind the owner/property manager being a little overbearing. We will certainly not stay here again - there are too many nice rentals in Sonoma.
What a wonderful house in a great location!! Equipped with all we need and the stunning views made the week a blast. The outside pool area and fireplace were used alot along with the hot tub. The deck on the upper level was used alot for dinner, overlooking the pool and views were nice while enjoying wine during dinner. It was hard to leave, luckily it rained just the one morning of our departure. So it made it just a little easier. The deer in the backyard were neat to watch and the cows and one billy goat next door were a riot. We needed two more days there to get done all we wanted but what a great place... If I have my way we'll be back very soon :-) Erika Howard; Rochester, NY
Friends stayed to celebrate a recent wedding and a milestone birthday. Our first impression continued each time we entered a room, turned a corner, woke each morning...WOW! Thanks for thinking and anticipating the needs of the guest! From extra bedding to the abundance of cooking spices to the multiply seating options, it was all included. It was not actually walking distance to the market, but certainly close enough to make a Starbucks run for the addict in our party! Please note that the driveway incline is TOO STEEP for a limo to drop at the door. Ask them to pull halfway up and then take your luggage to the bottom of the steps. We could not get the outside grill by the pool to work even with the instructions in the very detailed book! Later we were informed that it did not actually work and used the Weber grill on the rear deck which worked perfectly! It was great that the items left by other visitors were left for us and we in turn left items to be shared (sealed of course!). The arbor lighting switch is actually not in a black box, but in a gray box on the fence that faces the pasture! We discovered that best thing was to eat outside and enjoy the views! However, the bees were in abundance!! Not to sting, but to steal our food! The traps helped but there were still plenty to go around! Please note that this is not suitable for handicapped individuals or those who cannot climb stairs or get winded easily! A perfect location for visiting wineries and enjoying Sonoma.
We plan to return!
We were four couples coming in to have a long weekend reunion. We decided to splurge and rent this beautiful house, and we are so glad that we did. Everyone had a comfortable bedroom and bath situation, but we spent almost no time in those rooms. This is a house for outdoor living, and we proved it. There were at least 7 outdoor tables and chair sets in various places around the property, and we ate or lounged at a different table every meal, and we still didn't get to them all. The pool and spa were great - even though it was early in the year, we had really warm weather, so we enjoyed them both. The house is beautifully furnished, has everything you would need in the kitchen, and is set on a hillside with no other houses very near. While we drank coffee one morning, we saw deer, goats and even a few cows grazing up the hillside next to the property. The landscaping is incredibly lush, with a small grape arbor, several avocado trees, a rose garden, an herb garden, cascades of rosemary falling over the wall near the parking area, etc. The sound system allowed us to play our music through the outside speakers, and even though the house rules prohibited playing the music loudly enough that we would disturb the neighbors, we found that it wasn't a problem. We simply kept the music at a volume consistent with carrying on conversations, and it was fine. The location, too, was terrific. The historic center of Sonoma is very charming, and we did the Overlook Trail hike, which was wonderful. We used our location in Sonoma as a base to explore Healdsburg, Napa and St. Helena, as well as other places. We would love to return here again sometime with our whole family - our adult daughters would really love this place. AND, our security deposit was returned within the week! I can't recommend it highly enough.
