Love, love, love this place!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and wanted a place to enjoy with our dogs - we definitely found it! The cabin had everything we could have wanted! It's in a great location for day excursions and is also a great spot if you wish to stay local on the beautifully secluded Thunder Lake! The fire pit was great, with benches which made it easy to have dinner by the fire! We just got home today and have already recommended this place to others! Stay here, you will not be disappointed!!

Great place to go.

Great cabin, well located and well stocked. It can sleep 14 people if there are only a few adults; the beds at doubles and two adults per is a tight fit. Overall we had a blast and would rent again.

The Perfect Rustic Get-A-Way

  • 4 of 5

My boyfriend and our dog had a great time at this secluded cabin! It is the perfect compromise for the nature-loving couple, group of friends, or family. There is a nice amount of clear open land for a dog(s) to run and play without getting lost in the woods too quickly. The cabin comes equipped with everything you could need for technology free escape including a grill, fire pit, canoe, paddle boat, and a fun spiral staircase. There are hiking trails near by, but make sure you wear bright colors if you are going to visit the area during hunting season. We heard gunshots pretty consistently throughout the day. I had no cell service the entire time I was in the cabin so if you are planning on bringing speakers to listen to music via spotify or pandora, make sure you have things downloaded to your phone.

Overall, I had an amazing time and I would recommend this location to anyone!

Secluded Cabin in the UP

  • 4 of 5

My husband and our two dogs had a great time at the cabin. We wanted something deep in the woods, private, rustic, with lake access and we got what we asked for. The cabin is small but has everything you need. Be sure to bring DVD's with you as there are none at the cabin, but there were some games and coloring books as well. We really liked how the house is set well off the main road, so sitting on the deck you felt completely private from the rest of the folks on the lake. Bring lots of bug spray with you as the mosquitoes come out in force around 5pm, but our nightly fire in the fire pit helped keep them away.

Note, most all cell carriers do not get service at the cabin, and there's no landline in the cabin. I could see this being kind of scary if you have small kids and there's no way to call in an emergency.

Regarding the lake access, it's a short walk to the dock, but it's not the kind of dock others have on the lake. The water is very shallow and full of water lilies, so there's no swimming or fishing from the dock. If it's not too windy we suggest you do what we did and take the canoe across to the other side of the lake on the point, dock the canoe and fish and swim there. It was a fun little private place to hang. And if it's too windy, head to the public boat launch. We waded in to our waists in the warm water and fished from the launch and caught blue gill, pike, bass and some sunfish. Nice little spot.

Great vacation spot for sticking close to the lake, but also a nice central location for people looking to drive to places like the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore as well. Great little getaway!
